bryonbush got a reaction from bigmal in grounding issue
I couldn't sleep the other night after posting this so I went back out to work. I had a cable about the thickness of my finger from another project laying around. So I ran that from the back of the block to the frame rail where the metal is thicker. I then made a ground from the same spot in the block, to the grounding tab on the fitech. I also found that the wire I was using for 12v cranking was dropping to 4v at cranking. I switched that to the fuel pump wire in the aaw kit. Sucker started right up after that.

Go just as big wire size on the body ground. I think I have 02GA for both and no power issues at all.

Got my car delivered from paint. House of Kolors Candy Brandywine over base black. Stripes and lettering all painted along with blacked out bright work throughout. Now onto the interior.

Posting in The Garage doesn't have to be about Mustangs brother.
Hey Rob, you sure that ain't from California? When did the good guys become the bad guys, and vice versa? The Po Po recently recovered a stolen pistol of mine, and the hoops I had to jump thru to get it back would make your head spin. I know it made mine. Here's a small example,  if I also wanted to get my stolen ammo back, I would have to do more paperwork thru an FFL dealer. All my stolen stuff was mine legally. Already purchased  and registered. Ya, I don't get it either.
These libs have lost their minds, and it's the honest citizens who will suffer. So nobody thought of revamping the bail system, and the only option was to eliminate it? Give me a fu€king break. The bad guy who shot me and my partner when I was a copper did a whopping 6 years. And he had priors.  Texas is looking better every day.
    I need a drink. And I don't drink :)

I am going to go ahead with the 69 hood with a 71 ram air top skin ,this will be a steel hood and later pull a mold so i can make them in fiberglass.
I peeled the top skin off the 69 hood ,had a lite rust film in the inside of the underbracing so i took my little sand blast pot to it in a small spot just to see how it would clean up . It cleaned up very well with no pitting so this under brace is good to go . This is a very straight underbrace ,i will finish blasting it then i will epoxy primer before i put the 71 73 top on .
I used my small angle grinder and ground through the edges of the 69 top ,the fold over only had 3 spot welds and two of them didnt hold .the peak of the hood had about 8 spot welds that i ground through and the top skin just fell off ,the glue ford had used let go a long time ago .

There’s nothing that needs rebuilt. The booster is only about two years old and works fine.
But I’m working with wilwood now. They just released a more compact MS a few weeks ago. After talking with them, that’s what I’ll go with. It’s about a $50 difference between what I have now and that unit but I won’t have to mess with my booster.

bryonbush got a reaction from Grabber70Mach in thoughts on selling fastback
Technically my dad did for him. And it was well before my adventures into Mustangs. Both his cars were impeccable restorations that would win awards everywhere he went. So much so he stopped bringing them to shows. He ended up with parkinsons and as time went on, turned into dementia. The last straw was him "working" on the car fixing an issue that he had back on the car many moons back. My grandmother told my dad to sell them and unfortunately for my dad, who grew up restoring the 34, didnt have the time, or drive to keep it around due to him having to take care of gramps. Sad story all the way around but its life.

Also this weekend I started working on finishing up the stereo. I worked on the kick panel speakers and wiring. I would have worked on the package tray and rear speakers, but one of the speakers is defective and has to be replaced. I'm hoping to get some answers to questions I have on some installation challenges and get the radio in this coming weekend. FYI this design makes for a VERY tight fit with the parking brake.

You haven’t used this system have you? The hoses they have suck and run OVER the headers which means they bake then crack and break. My hoses lasted a week while on the power tour. Anyone who actually drives their cars with their borgensons hoses are on borrowed time. It seems like you’re set on an argument on why we should stick with brogeson over rack even after I pointed out two kits that will be around the same price. Never the less, a search for my posts on borgeson will quickly show the issues they have for someone who drives their car a lot with this system.

yup. the shop who did it did a very good job. one thing I don't like though is how they connected the headers to the pipe, they hang quite a bit and these are on Dougs Try-Y's. You would think for them pulling the collector out away from the trans a smidge, running it close together and through the brace, then nice and tight over the exhaust, they would've don't a little better at the collectors.. oh well, it works and I aint changing it.

forgot to add... my trans tunnel gets pretty hot in the summers with the pipes so tightly in there. Vick: I would recommend putting some type of heat shield in there if you do it. I was actually thinking of taking some of the heat shield off a totaled ford fusion. I was under my wifes car changing the oil and noticed they have a pretty good run of that padded aluminum heat shielding stuff that would probably work pretty well.

Continued mocking up my brake tubes with the steel brake lines.   Got them bent and installed the master cylinder.   I used the Ford Ranger master cylinder body, and the Mustang reservoir with my Master Power Brakes proportioning valve mounted underneath.   I am also going to use an in-line, pressure actuated brake light switch, so I routed those lines from the front brake line outlet.
Looks like that arrangement will work nicely.  I will now re bend all of these lines in their final configuration, making sure they are not over bent, scratched, dented, etc, and mount my brass tee and brake light switch securely.  Then bench bleed the master cylinder, and call that part done.  I also need to hook up my rear brake line, but that is the easy one.
Took a brake (no pun intended.....) from the tube bending to assemble my adjustable motor mounts and take some measurements.  I have both the stock height and 1/2" drop, and after several iterations of measuring, decided I had at least an inch clearance from my big oil pan to the center link.  So, I am going with the 1/2" drop, as that will help me with my high rise intake/shaker hood fit up.  The picture of the engine bay shows the adjustable motor mount plates attached to the front crossmember support.  You can see the slotted hole that runs horizontally, that allows for the side to side adjustment of the engine.   The picture of the other mounting plates show the front to back slot and that adjustment.  What is missing in the pictures is the rear leaf spring poly bushings that go into the engine side assembly.  Those are on the way.....
This should also allow me to steer the engine clear of the Borgeson box, my big-ass C-6 transmission, and the shorty headers that want to hit everything...   Should be fun...

Picked up this 69 yesterday. Typical rust in spots from a car that's been in a barn for 20+ years. Had a 302 w 3 speed manual and 9" rear. Non PS&PB. Guy bought it from original owners son, cleaned it up, then burned up the rear end doing burnouts. He pulled the motor and never did anything with it. I really would like to make a trans am themed car out of this.

there are a few rules i always follow when traveling:
    1. Never fly into/out of Chicago.
    2. when making reservations make a separate folder with information about everything. this includes names and ID# of people i talk to.
    3. If someone in the business im spending money on starts being a dick, i record it and make sure HQ gets a copy. but i also make sure to go out of my way to let HQ know if a member was very helpful.
