Okay I am looking for honest feedback here.....
The chrome on my taillight bezels is cracked and pitted. Can't find nice originals for a decent price and repros are about $70 a piece, so I decided to do something with the crappy ones I have. Having them re-chromed is out, and chrome paint looks, well like paint and not chrome.  I kind of like the Boss all black look, but I am not building a boss. Trying to stay close to a Mach I look with the wide rocker moldings and the black honey comb tail panel. So I decade to try painting them black (Boss like), but then bring in the body color to ascent the three light portals and break up the all black look. So here is the result...
You won't hurt my feelings if you don't like them or think they look cheap. Honest opinions are what I am after....

Okay. I am really getting excited! The paint is on and it looks fantastic! Still needs color sanding. Need to paint a few more parts and paint the black Shaker hood stripe. Cant wait to get her home and install the steering and suspension and put her down on wheels.

I've been on these forums for a long time and have never made a build thread for my car, mostly because of the slow progress. Well I decided to create one to somewhat document the progress such that it is.
Some background. This car is the 3rd (of 16)(2nd 69) mustang I've owned. I bought it in December 1983 when stationed at Blytheville AFB Arkansas. It changed hands a couple of times before I got it but had come from Texas with a young airman. It actually got the 351C engine from my 72 Gran Torino sport at one time. It had a 351W 3 spd in it by the time I got it. I drove it for a while even moving it when I transfered to Grissom AFB Indiana. Sometime around late 84/early 85 I traded my frozen 429 SCJ motor I had for the 72 Gran Torino Sport for a 70 351C with completed machine work and ready to build. I built the cleveland and swapped out the windsor replacing the 3 spd and 8 inch rear with a close ratio 4 spd and 9 inch with 3.00-1 gears from a 70 cougar at the same time about March 85. I drove it pretty regularly till mid October 86 when I decided to rebuild the car. It's been in various states of dis-assembly ever since.
This past fall I contacted a guy on pro-touring forums who does renderings and contracted him to do one for my car as inspiration and to help motivate me to do more. I'm not getting any younger! This represents my vision for at least the exterior of my car.

    Condition when bought.

    In Indiana after engine rebuild

    At parents place spring 85

It's far from being done but I'll be adding more pics in the next few days till I get to present state.

It took me a bit to get it to the shop but the fellas have been getting some big bits done:
    Tubs widened to the rail

Chassis plated, anti roll bar tacked in. Springs moved inside the rails, rear crossmember and front crossmember with exhaust cutouts (tailshaft cutout to be done once we're back on the ground). Chassis connectors started as well.

Engine and box fitted, angles set, mid and box mounts to be done.

Next on the list is making the fuel tank, and mounting the dry sump tank and battery in the trunk.

Well after much deliberation I decided to build another center console and take my time and do some upgrades like Cup Holders, USB Ports and such...I built one to about 75% completion and didnt like how the face plate looked so I trashed it and started over, heres the end result.
Wish I was better at installing upholstery but it doesnt look to shabby.
Have to order me a billet bezel and leather shifter boot and she will be all buttoned up

    Hi all!
Giving a shout out from Sweden. Been in the forum for some years but haven’t had a Mustang since 2014. Recently came across a barn find here in Sweden. And got it for a price I just couldn’t resist including shit load of parts. It’s a 69 Mach-1 R-code, my dream car.
It was I fairly good shape when I bought it but I knew there was a lot of stuff to do to it. It ran, very nice interior and so on.
Could see hidden bondo repairs, that turned out really bad. Most of the car is original, the engine for instance.
Have started to tear it down, the engine is at the machining shop, the original crank turned it to be a bit crocked, so looking for a “new” one.
Found 2 build sheets when I removed the front seats, one in good shape and the other one not so good shape, so my plan is to let it stay there, maybe but a clear coat over it :)
and yeah, if you wanna follow my Mach 1 Instagram: the_69Mach1_resurection
Will most likely use this forum a lot more from now on.

    cheers!

RogerC reacted to JET 445 in Door alignment
Wow, so much debate and so much bad information, all he needed to do was adjust the hinges. The reason body shop guys and assembly line workers bash and bend things is because they need to get it out the door as quickly as possible and get onto the next car but 50 years later that is never the best solution. Take the striker off, adjust the door and refit the striker ,simple, easy.

Glad you had a good time. I was there back around 06 or 07 as I was in dearborn for training. I spent some time in the research library. Got a lot of info on the 62 prototype mustang and the GT40. Had some copies made. They were very accomodating. I asked for info on the 62 prototype and they brought out a large folder with drawings, articles and inter-office correspondence. Had to wear white cotton gloves to handle the paperwork.

Wether it’s a 1 of 1 or 1 of 7000, it’s a 69 Stang. It’s 50 years old!! I can’t count the number of people I’ve sent to the chiropractor due to them snapping their heads around to get a glimpse of my 69 or 70 while out for a cruise. What about that poor guy under his wife’s thumb wishing he could have a older Stang.  I hear so many comments about people either not liking the coupes and or the fastbacks. It’s 50 years old, still running, still snapping necks, and you know there’s prob not even a third of them still around. All mine, even the 82, are all 1 of 1 in my book and yours should too.
    Built not bought!!

So I've owned the car for more than 35 years and I ordered a Deluxe Marti Report earlier this week. Built Friday December 6th 1968.
A nothing special mustang and why I've had no reservation whatsoever of modifying this car.
