15" Magnums.....have the original 14" slotted chrome steel wheels as backup. Got mine (Coker's) from specialty wheel. TIP: buy them one at a time and shipping is around $15 per rim.....buy all 4 and shipping is $200.

    Hello bswor,
Thanks for fixing the avatar thing.

I like our car and I think it looks pretty cool.
As far as chasing trophies - -NOPE - - I have a few from
before we had it painted back to the Grabber Green.
Trophies are not really what my wife and I care about.

It is hard to put into words - -when we go to shows - a lot of
people comment on the car and that is cool.
I guess I was just a little BLUE about not wining at all this year.

Yes winning a trophy kinda validates all the work I have done and
had done - (paint and body)

I agree that judging is not really all that accurate at most shows
and a lot has to do with popularity.
My wife thinks I should put the original valve covers and all that
stuff - -but I am leaning towards leaving things the way they are
just do a little neatening and cleaning

One thing I know - -there area a lot of cars worse shape than ours
and there are a lot of cars that are just better.
I often run into a guy that bought his car from a museum and it
haws low low miles = =that car is special - - - - he deserves to win

Nope - - trophies are cool but meeting people and sharing scraped knucle
    stories are priceless

Thanks all - -I am fine now and I know our car will be part of the family for a
    long long time

    Be well

Sam, no validation from an outside source is important or needed. If your happy with what you did to your car then "that" is all that matter. Who cares what others think!

car show judging is a joke.

for the most part, i've found it much nicer, to simply register, then put a display only/do not judge sign on my dash and hang out.  then i don't have to worry about what might have happened with the awards.  i'm the hardest and best judge of my car.

RPM got a reaction from JoryikRet in Are Oil or Trans Temp Gauges Necessary?
I for some reason bought a 2 pod gauge insert which replaces the forward ash tray in the center console. I was thinking about getting a trans and oil temp gauge, but really don't know if they're needed or they're just something else to go bad. Any experiences or your thoughts on me doing this? And if I do buy the gauges, which temp range should I get? The selections are 100-250* and 140-300*.
    Thanks guys.

    Thanks Guys.
Rechecked the timing with my light and it was dead nutz on. don't remember the maker of my timing light, but its just got an on and off button, nothing special and its a few yrs old and works fine on my car, which has ALL of the same components as my biddies car does.
His Dizzy and coil are new and his 6AL box is several years old.
They did check the 6AL box before he brought it to me and it was fine.

So last night we marked the balancer and took it for a ride and it ran like a top with no problems and balancer marks appear to be in same location as they were when I marked them.
Distributor gear pin was not sheared off and looks just fine as well...This thing is Odd.
So we will be driving it for 5 plus hours to Cruising the Coast next week but we will have a Spare MSD box, spare known good Parts distributor and spare Coil Just in case HaHa

RPM reacted to danno in 1 wire to 3G alternator
I am kind of with Ashlees on this.  I have done a "load analysis" on a car with a factory alternator, and the audio amplifiers and brighter lights can be taken care of fine with the old factory setup.  I have the huge audio amps in my car, along with AC, halogen lights, power windows, and a factory alternator.  Been driving with it for 10 years without a problem. I do not have one, but an electric fan can put that into question.  If you have an after market 1 wire alternator, then the odds are it has a lot more amperage, probably 100 amps.  100 amps is plenty to run everything you could ever need, unless you do something like electric power steering.

A couple things to also consider.  Do you have AC?  The Factory AC clutch takes a lot of amps, but aftermarket compressor clutches are a lot less. So consider if you do not have AC or have an aftermarket AC compressor.  And one more thing.  If you switch to LED lights, they take about 10% of the amps that conventional lights take.  The only place the lights make a significant difference is in the headlights, though.  So if you ever switch to LED headlights, that completely removes  the need for anything larger than a factory alternator, no matter what other gadgets you have on your electrical system.

But I could also understand wanting to switch.  Just take your time to do it, there is no hurry.  By the time you make the switch, maybe the harness you need will be available.  It is also possible midlife would make one for you.

Just remember that a shaker will limit your intake manifold choices.  I have an early Mach 1 style hood with the 4 pie cut outs.  Hopefully by next month I'll have my 427 medium riser dual quad set up on and dialed in.  It all fits under the hood and nobody knows until the hood is opened!

From the body shop that is. My best recollection is that it's been there since about 1999. Been in this stage for many of those years. Got side tracked with a divorce, built a shop, got married, had a shop at the new house but never brought it home, another divorce, sheesh!
Anywho, gonna start on fabbing up some round chromo control arms and coil overs, steering, 4 wheel disc, fit the engine/C5 trans and make a driveshaft, electrical, yada yada...
YEE HAW!!! I'm excited she's home.

When I read about Shaun's convertible inner rocker install over at VMF, I was hooked and decided to do it along with the one piece seat riser. I had already removed the stock seat risers because the NPD Ventura phone sales guy said the conv and sportsroof were the same height. This after I axed him to compare the two. I found out otherwise when I went to pick them up. You don't need a tape measure when they're side by side. Because the conv seat riser raises the seats by one inch, I figured I could just splice in the center hump piece which goes over the tunnel. After measuring twice I cut into it. A the center piece is 1" higher than the stock risers, I made several relief cuts in it and bent down the hump ends and tacked them. Surprisingly I only had to add one small filler wedge piece on each side.

The inner conv rockers were fairly easy to install, just time consuming. I can't imagine doing them without a rotisserie. The fun part was welding a zillion plug and tack welds.

Crap, shoulda uploaded all my pics when I had the chance :(

So I snuck the Mach One around the corner a mile to fill up the gas tank. Gas gauge works just fine. I had so little gas in it the gauge did move just a bit when the key was turned on, but I was concerned.

I had forgotten what a crowd pleaser Mustangs are. I wasn't ten feet out the car when a fifty-something gal walks up and asks "what ya got in it?" and she complimented the sound of it right away. When I mentioned it had to much resonance at 1,000 rpms, she replied "too bad King Muffler isn't still in business". Who are you? Pretty neat a gal gearhead. Took about ten minutes to get in the store to pay for the gas as three more folks initiated conversations. Walking back to the car after paying a lady copper drives thru the pumps, uh oh! No windshield or seat belts. She drove thru without even looking at the red Mustang. Two more compliments before I returned the gas nozzle to the pump.

Gotta love the compliments and attention she gets. Pretty much made my day.

How did you guys who switched to an Auto Meter mechanical speedo connect it to the cable. The A-M has 5/8" threads and the stock cable is clipped on iirc. Mine works but is currently held in place by pressure of the cable.

My Dad passed about a year ago. I'm bringing his Mustang over to work on it and get it running.  I'll still be able to get the Mach out of storage and run her, she just won't be "home" and that will make me very, very sad.  I had it at the transmission shop overnight and had separation anxiety with it out of the garage... :P :P :P
