" The ribs on a shaker scoop are painted argent. Some folks paint the shaker semi-gloss black then sand the ribs clean, but that's not accepted by MCA judging if that's a concern. "

I've done a fare bit of sheet metal cutting in the last few months and found an air powered nibler invaluable. Two things. Buy a good one and you need a decent compressor that won't run out of puff every 10 seconds. This was a good excuse to buy a new compressor as well. Sometimes I need to justify my spending and an excel spreadsheet won't always work.

Time well spent on the engine, it looks very tidy. I love those rocker covers too, I once had a similar set on a 351C that had "CLEVELAND" embossed in the top.

Mal, the engine looks really neat and clean. I have slowed down a bit also and cold does me no favors.

Anybody have a finned set laying around for a 351W ?

Looking good, you sure do work fast, I've been doing mine for 7 years and I'm still not finished!!. By the way you will probably have to drop the rack down a couple of inches if you want to install the engine and trans in one unit, the bellhousing will catch on the rack.

Looking more and more like a car again, Mal. Your goal is becoming very close to completion.
Just to let you know, flashing red tail lights are fine. Mine are and I have full NSW rego. If I were driving in Sydney like yourself though, I would change them too. To many people on those roads with no common sense.

The dash looks good. I like it more so than the wrinkle. Nice work.

Give the motorcyle engine case paint a try ,you will like it .It is made for aluminum and magnesium and it is very tough. I use fine line tape that is the same with as the fins ,after painting just pull off the tape from the fins

I had the same dilemma but ended up cleaning them real good, fixing the blemishes, primering with aluminum compatible primer then painting with VHT wrinkle paint.

I saw an episode of Gearz where he polished the fins, lettering and high spots, cleaned it good than used a rattle can of high temp paint. He waited until it was dry and used lacquer thinner to take the paint off the polished areas. It came out nice. I've been thinking of using blue like the block also.

If the paint on the dash doesn't work out you can recover with textured vinyl over the dash not to hard to do if you have a heat gun.

Find a place where they have a vibratory polishing machine. I had it done to a set of aluminum wheels I had. They came back better than new.

Those intake ports on the heads are huge!!!
The valley pan is also known as a Turkey pan, and is used to keep oil from going where it shouldn't go, but it is not absolutely required.  Lots of folks run without the pan.
