Yes! And, if you scroll down just a littler further in that passage,  you'll find this:  “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal."
This Mustang of mine is very dear to me and sometimes I wonder about that. It was my first car, my father helped me acquire it and I have good memories with it. I turned 60 at the beginning of this year and I've not driven it since 1983. It was weird turning 60, no other birthday has bothered me as much as this one. Knowing that most of my life was over with and wondering how much I have left and thinking about what I have and have not done. Lots of thoughts.  One of those thoughts was would I ever drive the Mustang again. Would I finish it before I pass this life. I think about those thoughts and the above scripture and think that perhaps I put too much into something that I will leave behind one day. I saw this the other day while I was feeling sorry for myself, "life is not about what we consume, but what we give away". Thanks for giving, Rich!

Wow Rich, what can I say! That is incredibly kind of you and I am deeply touched by it but I would feel, for lack of better words, uneasy in it. Uneasy in that I make a good living and there are others out there with projects that only wish they could afford some of the things I lost. In time, I will re-coupe what I lost. In fact, I've already spoken with both Modern Driveline and Opentracker Racing and I think they are going to help me out a little in cost of replacing the stolen parts. Between that and what you offered, I am moved that there are still very good people out there. I probably don't need to tell you, but when something like this hits you, you become cynical, negative, and lacking in trust of others. I don't want to be that way. Your offer lifts my spirit. And btw, I am grateful for your presence on this forum. The builds you post here and your tutorials provide a wealth of knowledge to guys like me and I know it must take a ton of time out of your day to provide those things. You give a lot when you do that and I appreciate you for it. Thank you so much!

You may want to talk to a lawyer just to see if you have any recourse with the facility. I'm sure you signed an agreement that says "the owner of the facility assumes no liability" but there is such a thing as "reasonable expectations". It is reasonable to expect a storage facility to be secure against fire and theft, etc.

whatever you do, you should not replace only 1 rotor, because that may cause the car to pull to one side some when braking.

Bendix and Raybestos still make the oem rotors. Rock Auto or Summit for best price. Couple that with a set of Porterfield pads and shoes for an excellent brake setup.

That is awful. I hope that you get some compensation from insurance. Its’s odd that they put a cheap lock on after breaking into your storage unit.  If you haven’t already, you might speak to the police to see if they have any information about this happening to other people.  I am really sorry this happened on you.

No there is no contact with the headers.
If you have or are worried about contact you could tether them to the shock tower.
As for me, I positioned the hoses, torqueing them away from the exhaust before tightening the fittings

Oh the irony of having an engine so big that you can't put in good brakes!.....  Good luck - without the extra pressure created by the booster, you're going to need an entirely different kind of MC.  Not sure I have seen one, but there must be one out here somewhere.

As I sit here typing this, my hands are shaking and I'm filled with anger and rage. I'm trying to restore my Mustang and as such have been accumulating parts for it for years. With the exception of but a few small things, I have just about everything now. The car is fully taken apart and on a rotisserie now. I'm trying to do the mock up, as I'm changing a few things.  As my shop is small and my car is apart leaving me little room, I've been putting some parts in a storage unit in my home town. My car was once in there and I've had that unit for many years now. No one knows about it and when I visit it I try to guard the opening so no one can see in. Today I went there to check on some things and noted immediately that the lock that was on it was not the lock I used to secure it. Talk about a bad feeling. I cut the cheap lock that was on it, lifted the door and noted that my TKO 600 trans and all the other items need to make the conversion(car was previously an auto)  were gone. I just pulled the invoice on that purchase, $4,750. There may have been some other items taken, but the trans was the biggest financial part of it. I am sick to my stomach and mad as hell. I detest a thief and my hope is that somehow the pain this person has inflicted on me is returned to him ten fold.

Thanks Barnett! Say, I wonder if you might know.... I believe my car came with 1.75" wide rear shoes. I do see however that 2" is available, as are the drums. If my car came with 1.75" shoes and drum, would there be a problem in going to 2" shoes and 2" drum?
    Thanks,
    John

If you want to improve on the stock setup, you can run EBC Green Stuff pads, and shoes if they make them.
If you drive it hard occasionally, ENDLESS RF650 brake fluid will give you the firmest pedal feel without fade.

Here is my not-so-popular take:  If you can rebuild and adjust the back  drums and mash the parking brake and lock them up, what more braking power do you really need in the back?  I hate drums brakes more than your average guy, but I've got my front discs dialed-in for almost no pedal, solid feel and back brakes adjusted carefully to provide maximum assist without dragging.  I've got more brakes than I need.... however, I've just a driver, not road racing.  The road racing is the biggest differentiator - but are 4 wheel disc really required?  If you don't have more weight in the back than my stock car, how can you get much grip back there?  The ass end of these cars weighs next to nothing, and I don't feel like rear-disc is required.

Hi, I converted my 70 from all drum to all disc. Have not driven the car, so I can only speak to the conversion and installation.
I bought the whole thing from CPP and the brake lines from inline tube.. I used Granada front spindles/disc. The install was straight forward. The Granada flex lines required a adapter to connect to the stock hard line. The 69 disc/spindle not as strong as the stock 70-73 or the Granada units. Both will require changing the outer tierod ends and the Granada hub diameter is larger (70mm) and will not fit stock wheels. The 70-73 stock setup will connect to the hard lines without an adapter like the Granada brakes and works with 14" wheels. Converting the rear complicates things a little more. These kits commonly use a GM Eldorado rear brake caliper. It comes with brackets to adapt them to a Ford 8" or 9". Depending on rotor size they require a 15" or larger wheel. They typically require cutting the drum hard brake lines to connect to the flex lines in the kit. If you have stainless steel lines, you need hydraulic equipment to re-flare them after cutting. I chose not to use the flex lines and avoided needing to cut the lines and just had to bend them. The big challenge for me was what proportioning valve to used. If you stay with a disc/drum setup, a stock 70 valve and stock brake lines will work fine, but if going all disc a GM PV4 valve is needed. With this valve there will be master cylinder lines, brake line, brake light switch, and valve mounting modifications, as well as line adpters needed. Also, the parking brake cables will need to be modified or partially replaced with a Lokar type kit. So rear disc brakes are a nice upgrade but cost, and installation effort is greater than staying with a stock rear drum setup. The cheapest and easiest is disc/drum for all the reasons stated above.
One additional comment, you mentioned converting to a Tko or tremec 600, if you also convert to a hydraulic clutch, i believe a small (7"-8") brake booster is needed for clearance reasons.

I know Jay, and I've thought about what you said prior to posting. I've never really been disappointed with the factory equipped brakes, it's just that I need to replace everything. My booster, which I will keep, needs to be rebuilt. The MC, wheel cylinders, calipers, rotors, drums, all need to be replaced and/or rebuilt. If I've got to do that, I might as well look into a slight upgrade and discs are not that much more than drums from what I'm finding. The conversion appears to be easy, though I'm a bit uncertain about changes needed for the MC. Thanks!

Thanks for posting pics of the headliner, as I've wanted to see the texture of it.  I keep going back and forth on going that route. Big thing about the OEM headliner is putting it in before the glass. And, if for some reason there is an issue after the glass is put in, you're hosed.
    The car is gorgeous!

you don't run a disc/drum prop valve on a disc/disc system, and in fact, you may not need a prop valve at all. you could try it without one, then if you need one, add it then. irregardless, a basic prop valve from wilwood "should" have enough adjustment for your app.
i never heard of the brake line kit you have or why it would affect braking bias.
you should check to make sure there are no residual valves in your master cylinder.
if you add 2 lb residual valves to the brakes, it will reduce pedal travel slightly but may also cause your brakes to wear a little faster.
