SM69Mach replied to J's69Mach1's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
Bilstein Shocks all the way around. Got them with the front CO set up from SoT and matching rears. Could not be happier with the ride. -
That looks awesome!!!!

Sounds like they are going to work with you on this, so that is good to hear. Good luck with the repairs and upgrades.

I used a Vintage Air Kit and had everything I needed. Good kit and works great.

Front suspension and rack and pinion steering

I would suggest calling and talking with Shaun at Street or Track. I did that a few times before deciding on his Coil over set up in front with matching rear Bilstein shocks. He also will probably recommend unisteer PS setup, which he did for me and I could not be happier. Install was easy for all of it and the ride is SO much better. I went with the street set up as my car will see very little track time, but I will say car still handles great and doesn't beat me up over bumps any more. One of the best mods I have done to the car and Shaun was great to work with and we talked through several options before I pulled the trigger. Good luck as there are a lot of great options out there, just letting you know my personal experience. -
Yep. Factory Console here.

Street or Track for me as well. Kept the leaf spring set up out back an put on the matching Bilstein. I got the street valving because that is about 97% of what the car will be doing. Good thing I could always just change the shock if I wanted to get more aggressive, but absolutely love this set up. I would call Shaun and just talk to him. I talked with him a few times before deciding what to do and he was a wealth of knowledge and was just great to talk with and work with.

Looking good. Like the side scoop modification, looks good and close to stock, but still modified. Those are always my favorite. -
Valve Covers for Edelbrock Victor Jr Heads

Both good looking engine bays. Wish we had more options on the FE motors. I don't like putting Cobra script on mine for some reason. Just doesn't make sense. -
I put a TKO 600 in mine last year. It is really close, but I did not have to modify the tunnel on mine. I think it depends on the car and because I have seen other posts that say it wont fit with out modifying the tunnel or a lowered rear cross member. I used my stock mount with no issues or clearance problems.

NICE!!!!!!! I feel like sometimes I had more fun in mine before the body and paint work.

Nice runs and good looking car!

Well good luck with what ever you get done. I looked at doing a 3 or 4 link, but with what I am doing with the car the cost was hard to justify, upgrading the front was good and made a big difference for me.

Mike, Quick question that I thought about when reading about pulling in the tires. Did you clearance the inner fender wells? I was running a 305 and with leaf springs and had to clearance the inner front fender well to get those to fit. If you plan on pulling the wheel in, you may need more room there. If you have already, I missed it, but just wanted to through that out there in case you needed to work on it while it was all apart. Good luck either way.

I am running a Unisteer setup on mine with a big block and headers with ZERO issues. One of the best upgrades I have made.
-
100% agree with this. I did the same thing and raised the car about 1" from previous and still get the look I want. Also not more bottoming out just driving down the road. Sometimes it will if it catches a good dip, but no more just bottoming out on the road. Plus the coil over and shock set up and significantly increased the ride quality on my car where it doesn't beat me to death and much more civil to drive.

I am not sure what he is currently using for his kits. I bought my stuff a few years ago in including the front disc brake bracket for disc spindles which I don't think he sells separately any more, so not really sure what he is using. I am using the SN95 caliper with bear Cobra brakes on my setup. I would just give him a call, really cool guy to talk

This is similar to the kit I bought from Street or Track a couple of years ago. I didn't buy the calipers as I already had them. http://www.streetortrack.com/Street-or-Track-11.65-Rear-Disk-Brake-Kit-pr-23990.html Just pulled off the drum brakes, and put on the new brackets and it all bolted right up. I ended up not changing MC and installed a proportioning valve to adjust the rears. Been running it this way for a couple of years now with no issues. Hope that helps.
