  1. I also will jump on the Dynacorn train. Used them in 2 different jobs on my car. First round was frame rail/shock tower/apron piece for both sides, torque boxes, toe boards and floor pans. Then when I got in a wreck the same body guy did the work again and used their hood, core support, front valance and drivers fender.
  2. Continental Western Insurance Company, is the legal name, its a W. R. Berkley Company. I believe my broker said its a subsidiary of Buffet. If you would like I can pm you my brokers contact information, he is a car guy out of St. Louis. I have never actually met him since I live in Kansas City but I have had 5 other people switch to him after I started using him. The policy was 150 bucks for 16,200 worth of coverage.
  3. Yes, he does AMAZING work, ended up spraying the whole car and not charging me or the insurance company extra. Also helps that his wife is an employee of my dad's, and takes an extreme pride in his product. Car had been wrecked before in the early 90's. Hit a deer and was painted. I tore out the frame rails and put in new rails/shock towers/aprons 5 years ago. So while it was mostly stock it was not completely factory. I am going to try to re insure it for 21k this time around. The insurance company I use does not make me get an appraisal as long as the value is with in their guidelines. I however don't know that it breaks it down between say a Mach 1 (bigger money) and just a base like I have. So I believe I have a lot of room to insure it with out having to pay for an appraisal.
  4. Well she is 99% done and coming home. Waiting on an A/C line that is back ordered so I am going to bring it home this weekend and then take it back to him this spring when it gets warmer to charge the system. Pics below
  5. Well what I was concerned about the most happened. He could not get the paint to match up the way he wanted to. So he decided to just respray the rest of the car so it will all match up. On an OCD scale of 1-10 he is easily a 10 and will not let anything leave his shop unless it looks like he would want his car to. I am going to leave off the black vinyl stripe that ran down the side and also leaving off the tribar pony the original owner put on the fenders. Waiting on a couple brackets and an AC line to show up and then she can come home.
  6. Update. Body guy got it back together to test fit everything and then took it back apart to paint, now getting a second test fit before getting the door and fender get sprayed sprayed. I decided to go ahead and have him fix the door as there were some minor rust bubbles forming. Also the original owner put the tribar pony emblem on the fenders next to the cursive Mustang so I had him fill in those holes as well.
  7. Looks like around 5,500 in parts and the rest labor.
  8. Body shop got the ok from the insurance today, $10,017 in damage. Bad part is the body guy broke his leg a week ago so its going to be a while before he can really work on it. Good thing its winter.
  9. Well she is off to get a makeover.
  10. Looks like my spot in the shop will be open on Tuesday. I will keep updating this when I get pictures and or news. Thanks Chris
  11. Thanks I will let him know. Not so much for period correct, going to stay with the factory color but would rather have the more modern (deeper) shine to it. That was my next plan when it comes back from the shop. My son is only 2 so he has a long time before he gets it, however this really made me realize that I should have put disks on 5 years ago when I was thinking about it.
  12. That thing is sweet, If I wanted to put a coyote in there this would be the ticket.
  13. Well I got a call from the adjuster late afternoon saying he was close to my house and wanted to stop by. Met him and he said that my insurance company takes 90% of value to total it so they will fix it. Sounds like thy will pay to paint the doors forward, so talking with the guy who has restored a couple cars for my dad and friend, he also put the dynacorn pieces in this car when they rusted out a few yeatrs ago. He said if I want to pay to reshoot the rear quarters and trunk I would be better off going that way with a base/clear instead of a blended single stage. The process so far was easier than expected. The adjuster was pretty nice and said that he wanted my body shop to give him an estimate and then if he agrees that it is reasonable we can proceed. I am pretty happy that they are going to fix it to be honest. I really wanted to be able to give this car to my son when he gets older.
  14. I know it can be repaird, its just about how much will it cost and what parts will be used, junk yard parts or remanufactured parts. I am mostly worried about the paint, as a few years ago the entire front frame, shocktowers and aprons were replaced due to rust. So its not the first round of tearing it down. I don't honestly expect them to repaint the entire car, you can hope right?, but what do I do when the body shop cannot match the paint and it looks bad when its finished am I just hosed? The insurance company already agreed that the value of the car is set and there is no disputing that. Thanks for the replies.
  15. We are fine, and I am happy to say the recaro car seat did its job for my son. Hurts more emotionally after so many years with her from my senior prom, to getting married, to my sons first ride. Just want to make sure I am covering my basis when the adjuster shows up. If they fix her I want to make sure it is done right.
