Hi, I'm new to the Mustang world. I recently purchased a 1969 Mustang Grande with a 390 and hooker headers and am having a problem with header/pavement clearance. The previous owner installed CS8330 front springs, but had one coil removed to lower the car to a ride height of 26". As a result, if I hit a big enough dip in the road, the front of the car will dip down and I end up scraping the headers on the pavement. The car has an Edlebrock aluminum intake manifold, and is an original A/C car which has been removed. It has P215/70R14 tires up front, P245/60R14 tires in the rear. I can't go with larger front ties because there is not much clearance between the tire and the wheel well lip. I would like to change out the front springs to gain some ground clearance and am wondering which way to go. I am thinking of either installing new, uncut CS8330 springs again, installing some other constant rate spring, or possibly going with XXXX progressive rate springs. Alternatively, I was thinking of installing stiffer shocks to better control the spring action. Unfortunately, I don't know the brand of the shocks that are installed right now, though when I do a front bounce test, the car does not bounce more than about 1 time, so I think that the current shocks are not shot. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Brian
