bigmal got a reaction from RPM in Mounting Rear Speakers in a 69 Fastback
I ended up fitting them in the side panels. Pretty happy with how they turned out. Thanks for all the suggestions.

bigmal got a reaction from Shep69 in Fitting a Retro Sound Radio aint that simple
Me too, but sometimes on the longer trips it's nice to have a radio. Also like the hands free. Not sure if I will be able to hear it though. Haven't driven it yet. Just used it in the garage.

All bolted up, ready to fire up.The car is filthy, will get a good detail Saturday morning.
Here is a couple of pics of the garage mate 70 R/T Dodge Charger 440 4 speed , i am the 4th owner and 94,568 miles.
I restored the car about 3 years ago but i have owned the car for about 10 years.

I think that ceiling needs some gyprock and some nice downlights to finish it off.

Try mounting one in a front bucket seat with a 4 speed and a center console it has a sound you will never forget.
In the east we always used pioneer super tuners for the best sound...
And with no overhead lighting the bright dial was always welcome
I think I need to go sit in my car with the radio on for a minute or two or three...

bigmal reacted to barnett468 in Engine Installation - headers & transmission
You can determine if the vibration is in the engine or flexplate/convertor or not by doing the test below. If there is little vibration , the problem lies elsewhere like the driveshaft etc, but check the engine and trans mounts to make sure they are good.
ENGINE VIBRATION TEST
To test for engine vibration you can sit in the car then hold the gas pedal down around 1/4 of the way for around 10 seconds, then hold the gas pedal down around 1/3rd of the way for around 10 seconds. If the amount of vibration changes much between the 2 gas pedal positions, or is excessive in general or is "cyclic", meaning that it vibrates for maybe 2 seconds then stops for 2 seconds then vibrates again etc, there is definitely a problem and it can cost literally thousands of dollars to fix if the engine has to b e disassembled to fix it.

bigmal got a reaction from MAC390 in What to do and see in St Louis - April 2018
Not sure. It was in the carpark and I thought MAC390 would like it being a Charger fan. It was way beyond economical resto unless it was a rare model. I couldn't anything that didn't need fixing. The interior was as bad as it gets. I follow them on Facebook and they had it on about a week ago so it must be for sale. Maybe its like the original Bullitt or a GT500 and a collector will save it.

I have mine in boxes just sitting on the fold down. I do have another set of interior panels laying around that have speakers mounted just like yours, plan to swap them out.

I used JB weld and glued some sheet metal on the back. It would also help to stick some insulation on the inside of the panel.

Does this apply to wives? I've moved her around the shop more than 7 years and she still won't leave...

bigmal reacted to 1969_Mach1 in Need Advice on Removing Air Filter Horn
Don't sell it, or worse, give it away. I've learned over the years, do not sell good parts unless you need the money. Especially original parts. Years down the road you'll regret selling an original part in good condition.

bigmal; Your forgetting rule #1 in this game. ' Never get rid of anything ' unless you've looked at it and moved it around the shop for at least 7 years. Brian
