JoryikRet reacted to Caseyrhe in 69 Black Jade Rebirth
Kicking myself everyday for the last 30 years for selling my 69 Aculpulco Blue Drag Pack Mach, then finding it 4 years ago, unaffordable of course. The 70 conv came close, but once you've owned a big block Mach, there isn't a comparison in my book. I was able to get a 68 J code coupe at a good price, restore, then flip, in which I finally reached a financial part of my life where I could fulfill my dream of owning another FE 69 Mach 1. I was able to persuade a buddy of mine, after a year, to sell his project to me in April this year. He had owned the car for the past 3 years and had done very little to nothing to it, he had bought it from the second owner where it was dismantled, boxed up, and sat for at least 10 years. The last state inspection was from 1986. The 390 had been rebuilt and never started ,so started there, then the brakes, then the suspension, after many steps forward and a lot more back......she received her new coat of Black Jade, today. I'm going to catch up with a lot of photos to this point, then post as she progresses. I have found this website to be very beneficial along with the pleasure a giving back.

Coming home, how she sat for 10 plus years, sanded down

Yeah private sale is probably best, you're right about the dealers, that's why I was curious. Although I have to say I was pleasantly surprised how much Hyundai wanted to keep a loyal customer when I had to update my DD already. I drove my 2012 on the lot recently with 113,000 miles on it and was surprised to get $3900 over what I owed out of them against a new 2014. Between that and the dealer discount and factory rebates I left a few hours later with a payment that was $80 less per month than what I had.

I took a quick look and seems everything equal the V8 is worth about 3K over the V6 so yeah, that could be a loan issue for the potential buyer. I am sure some wide eyed kid will find the way to get it though, maybe you can still insure it as a V6. I think that would be trouble in a claim but hey worth casually mentioning if it helps close the deal.

I am selling a 69 Q code Mach-1. Its a project car but is well worth the effort. This car has been off the road since 92. The car has always been a southern car and has its original, block, heads, crank, rods and pistons. The block is standard bore. It is a very early production 69 from the Metuchen NJ plant. Car has both original fiberglass 1/4 end caps which were only on early 69 cars. The car also has its original body buck tag as well. Original color was silver jade with a black mach-1 interior. Car was painted resale red back in the 80's. Asking 18K. I have a deluxe Marti as well. Please P/M me for additional information and photos.

So this Russian kid who now lives in Germany loves American muscle.  So he decided to go to Texas and buy a 69 Mustang, then drive it around country to see America.  His eventual plan is to ship the car back to Germany and restore it.  Pretty cool.  I wonder if I can fly to Frankfurt and buy an E30 to drive around Europe for a month.

Ok, so I've just completed the second round of stripping, painting, "regraining", and staining my rim blow steering wheel and I am still not happy with it. It doesn't look terrible, I just can't seem to find the right coloring.

I used a hacksaw blade to get the graining effect and that part seems ok. But I think because the wheel is plastic/gray primer I can't get the staining part right. Has anybody else done this? What did you use, what tips do you have for applying the stain??

    Thanks,

I wanted to share a few experiences from the last month. I've been trying to get 69 back on the road for 3 years and have been driving it as much as possible the last month. What I've been really pleased with is there are a lot more 69/70s out there than I thought. And Close to me. Plus beyond just cruising in a nice car, I'm finding each drive to be an experience for other reasons.

The first time I took my wife on a cruise we saw a 1969 sports roof (from the stripes it was probably a mach), and a red 1970. That was on a 90 minute Sunday drive.

The next time I went out I stopped to look at an Old Galaxy on the side of the road and found a Classic/Hot Rod consignment place:
    http://www.hookedonclassics.com
Burned and extra hour of my time than I expected and got lost going to my original destination, but who cares.

Finally today was the kicker. I took a lunch time drive (as I'm working from home this week) and a guy in a random neighborhood 3 miles away flags me down. "Nice car he says, what year?' He says. We talk for a few minutes then he says. I've got a 70 Boss 302. I'm thinking 'Yeah right ok'. Sure enough he opens the garage and there on blocks, not driven in decades is a survivor. All Original Grabber Orange Boss 302. He's owned it for 43 years and is the second owner. He insisted I sit in it and work through the gears! Really nice guy (like most Mustangers I find).

I didn't really expect to find all this stuff in a Northwest Suburb of the Twin Cities. Next trip on Friday if the weather is ok - Off to French Lake Auto where the Fast N Furious guys found a killer 69 last season.

Amazing. Besides the 2 cars on the street I wouldn't have know any of this was close to my house. Anyway just thought I'd share because beyond just getting to drive a cool car, I'm finding the coolest things, and meeting the coolest people. What more could you ask for in a hobby?

    Hey everyone,

So got my car back a few days ago and I noticed for some issues with my c4. When cold, it doesn't want to upshift when in Drive. It does go in reverse and 1-2 are fine when shifting manually, but when I go into drive it over revs, or seems like it goes back to 1st.

When the car is all warmed up the car can shift through all 3 gears, the shift points are much wider now as I assume they adjusted the shift points but they are denying they didn't touch anything. When Cold, I check the fluid level and it shows little to no fluid, when warm the fluid is at level.

the thing shifted great before I dropped it off, I spoke with the owner of the shop to look into this.

I checked vacuum on the modulator, and I am getting pressure. Any suggestions? could it be incorrect fluid? or stuck relief valve? Its push-in modulator and trans was built by Performance automatic a few years back.

    Thanks,

I for some reason bought a 2 pod gauge insert which replaces the forward ash tray in the center console. I was thinking about getting a trans and oil temp gauge, but really don't know if they're needed or they're just something else to go bad. Any experiences or your thoughts on me doing this? And if I do buy the gauges, which temp range should I get? The selections are 100-250* and 140-300*.
    Thanks guys.

Yeah I know all the load is now isolated to the Frame rails, but there sure aint much up front in the way of thick sheet metal.
I am planning on running some supports behind the inner aprons and through the firewall to tie into the cage when the time comes, and then tying them to the front of the frame rails up near the Rad support.
I still need to purchase a tubing bender that will do a good job and not cost a fortune.

JoryikRet reacted to Print Dad in PAINT color dilemma - suggestions
    Hi All,
I know this is kinda a stupid thread but I would like some ideas.

As some may know - we have owned our 70 Mach for about 36
years. When we bought it - it had been painted black.

Now finally we having the body done over. The car is in real good shape
and only needed a very little metal work.

The guy doing the body is suggesting going back to the original Grabber Green.

When we took the car there - -we had planned on BLack with Burple stripes.
He pointed out a few things that has us thinking

    1. - The car would be worth a little more with the original color (not that important)
    2. - The car would stand out - there are a lot of Black ones around.
    3. - The paint car would be easier to keep looking good - -trust me he is kinda right - out 08 is Black as well and our Z-28 was black/

I know no one can really answer this question BUT I am looking for some thoughts and suggestions.

If is matters the car is numbers matching

At times I think it might be nice to have a different color BUT then I am afraid what if I get sick of the color. Just not sure what to do - but have a few more weeks before we get to the paint stage.

Well - I would appreciate some ideas on what people think may be a way to go with this. In any case - I think the car will look good and all the gaps
and alignment will be great. That alone will help the car look better.
    Just can't decide - -

    Thanks for thoughts and ideas

    Hello All,
Well the season is about over for us and up to now we have not
won a trophy of any kind.
I know that trophies are not really that important but it would have been
nice to win one once this season

I think our car looks pretty damn good on the outside and interior.

I have been talking to a few people at shows and they are suggesting I
do some work under the hood as far as looks

currently the car has Chrome Moroso valve covers
Braided hoses and a blue specter flow air cleaner

I pretty much like the looks - but now people seem to think
I should go bak to complete stock looks

I understand that the car is ours and beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I was just wondering what you people think would help our car
    look better

One friend suggested putting on 17's and low profile tires but I sure like
the 70's look of the keystones

Gotta admit it is a little discouraging to not win one trophy all season
I honestly think the car looks pretty cool
I should and will post a picture of the motor - but for now what
do you guys think would help.
Should I go back to stock look including hoses, clamps
and all that goes with it

    Thanks all
