  1. I have new information from Daniel Stern. See my first post above for the latest.
  2. see my first post above for the latest information
  3. Correct, but there are now two schematics depending on the lights you choose. See my first post which has been edited.
  4. EDIT, EDIT, EDIT see my first post which I have edited Below is LED information that was in this post originally: Also, there are finally DOT approved LEDs but they are very expensive and look like multifaceted bug eyes to me, but he swears they are excellent headlights. http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/led-headlights-model-8630-evolution/ with no DL, and no turn signal, or http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/led-headlight-model-8631-evolution/ with internal halo ring lit in dim white for the parking light function, bright white for daytime running light function, and bright amber for the turn signal function. He says they are thoroughly outstanding but cost $330/390 each respectively. Not my cup of tea.
  5. The chart "Variation in Fuel Load versus Ride Height" is really interesting. As the tank empties the rear goes up as you would expect, but the front goes down??? I don't get that- the tank is behind the rear wheels and they are measuring "E" at the pivot point of the front wheels so I would expect it to stay the same! Hmmm. I don't see "D" in the data anywhere.
  6. The schematic is almost complete- I sent an email to Daniel Stern to get the part numbers so I can lookup the bulb and specify the wire gauge- because I know someone will ask (and rightfully so). Patience is a virtue (I don't have).
  7. Talk to Stern to get the part numbers and see my first post which has been edited.
  8. I misspelled it, it is Cibie. By the way, the 4 stock 69 lights have a total of 6 filaments, and it needs to be reconfigured to only 4 filaments when installing the relays for the halogens. I edited my first post and added schematics.
  9. EDIT EDIT This is the latest information as of 1-20-18. The 69s have a problem because of the small 5.75 diameter lights. New lights have become available in the H4 format that are acceptable. While the Koito H4 is not as good on low beams as a Hella BiFocal H1, the Koito is still substantially better than the old sealed beams. This information comes from Daniel Stern, and the halogen lights he suggests are the only lights I found that have photometry to show you the actual light pattern. They are DOT approved. Too much light going up tends to reflect back and bedazzel the driver, especially if there is rain or fog. Stern suggests several brands and they are all detailed on the attached schematic titled Headlights.pdf. Pictures are on the accompanying MS Word.doc titled Headlight3.doc. The different types of lights require different wiring, so I made a schematic for each type. It took many many emails to Stern to pry all the information out of him. He does not give part numbers, so if you want to get the correct parts you will have to get them from him. His website shows the bulbs, Cibies, and Hellas, but as of this writing the Koitos are not shown. He also has some relays and harnesses, but I don't think he has both types of harnesses, so beware of what you are buying. You will need to add a couple of relays and a harness wired directly to the battery because these halogens pull substantially more amps and will fry your light switch and wires. Stern has finally found DOT approved LEDs. The link is in a later post below. I don't care for them because they look like multifaceted bug eyes. All the other LED lights that I looked at are made by tiny little companies that don't do any testing. They are not DOT approved and I don't recommend them. HEADLIGHTS.pdf headlights3.doc
  10. Well I might as well extend the hijacking- I noticed you have cranks on your rear windows (mine just leans out at the rear) and your top belt attachment point is behind the rear window, while mine is above where the two windows meet. This is different, what model are you driving? Mine is a 63C with 3AA trim.
  11. I agree that's a beautiful car Larry, with a perfect ride height. I reviewed the CJPony video about the 4.5 Scott Drake mid eyes. He says they are intended for light duty use on 64.5 to 66 six cylinder cars, or on V8s for a softer ride. I'm just wondering if you get wheel hop? Of course we need to know more about your drive train also- are you making good HP or is it more of a cruiser? My Mach is currently completely stock and only a 351w 2V, but it lights up the tires and hops all over the place in second gear. I intend to improve the HP considerably and will need to stiffen-up my rear springs. Your help is greatly appreciated.
  12. It doesn't sound all that different than southern California. My sis says its going to be 80 degrees there today, and it never snows unless you're in the mountains. Mid you're in Florida? Must be similar. You would think that Georgia would be warmer, since its right next to Florida, but its 28 degrees right now. I do miss California's weather, but not much else.
  13. Mine has four rubber pads. cut pile is not stock: which can be described as sewing strands of yarn into a backing material - creates thousands of yarn loops. When the loops are cut, we create a CUT PILE carpet, often known as PLUSH or texture carpet and even friezes.
  14. Let us know if it works out, and what ya got please.
  15. I've seen the upper arm support tool ranging from $60 to $100/pair. Jeez
  16. Considering the door and 1/4 panel, I don't think it matters much
  17. I'm a little confused by your statement- You still have an electronic transmission control like Baumann or similar I assume?
  18. I traced the origin of this. In 1970 in California only, Ford came out with the vapor canister system for the tank only. They improved it and put it on all cars from 71-73. The 71-73 tank is substantially different. It has an air space at the top with a vent tube that runs over to the fill pipe and mates with a baffle in the fill pipe. These cars also have a floor in the trunk, not like the older cars that use the top of the gas tank as the trunk floor. There is a vapor/fuel separator that connects to the top of the tank at the air gap. That goes to the vapor canister and from there to the air cleaner. Since the plastic parts become very brittle and it was only used in California for one year, there aren't many of those parts still available. It may be easiest to go with a 69/70 tank (used in all the other states) and fill tube. That fill tube has a little indent tooled in the gas cap sealing surface (at the top) which becomes the tank vent.
  19. Sure. Power comes from ignition switch A on wire 297 to a splice, then goes through a 10 ohm resistor wire (#30 violet) and through the circuit board plug to the constant voltage regulator. Anything that interrupts that circuit could be the problem. Connect one lead of a voltmeter to chassis and start probing for voltage with the other lead. The plug doesn't appear to have numbered pins, but has a tab near one end. start counting at the end near the tab and count up 6 pins. That should be wire #30 violet. If you don't have power there with the ignition switch in "on or accy" then that's the problem.
  20. Mid, I think he may have misspoke; look on page 2: there is a fuse in the instrument light circuit, but not the instrument gauge circuit. The line from Light switch "I" it goes to 4A fuse #5, that feeds the ash tray light, heater light, radio light, clock lights, and the 8 dash lights. MAC390, which fuse are you talking about? Look at the position of the fuse in the block on the top of page 1. Since you have dash lights the fuse in question is probably not #5.
  21. Yep, Mid has it covered as always. If you want to SEE what the circuits look like, go to "How to's" on this forum, then the first pinned post called "A REAL Schematic". The dash lights and gauges are on page 2, while the headlights are on page 3. The 69s and 70s are very similar in these areas, except for the headlight changes- four vrs. two. The schematics are for a 69, although I did do another post on exterior lights for a 70 to show how their crazy side marker lights work.
