det0326 got a reaction from RPM in Seat riser repositioning?
The only thing that comes to mind is where the seat belts mount. If using OEM belts probably want matter but some of the aftermarket 3 point belts that stock hole right behind the seat is where the retract mechanism  mounts. My seat riser is in the stock position and with the seat all way back is against the retracter.

    Hi Shep
The rear bumper came fro NPD, I was amazed how well it fit. One of the only things that fit right out of the box.

Not sure if he has ever changed the flex plate or not.  Barnett maybe right an internal engine problem and when it comes to engines he usually is.  That is a nasty vibration tho and one would think if an internal problem the engine would have come from together by now.

Time to inspect that flexplate. You mentioned it was marked with felt pin which  probably means not original to the car and it was purchased at a bone yard and could have been marked wrong.

Thanks again Guys and yes fvike it is trilling to drive it for the first time. Then put it back in the garage and start fixing problems. Been driving it now for about 2 years and fixing a few problems along the way. Just finished up the A/C  a few weeks ago.  Waited a little over 2 months for delivery on the console. All and all tho it hasn't been to bad. Time to enjoy now.

In this video I assume you have the rear axle on jack stands and the whole drive train is turning. Is this correct?  Also is the vibration as noticeable with just the engine running?
That's a pretty big vibration the way the steering wheel is vibrating or is that just a nervous camera .

As Docwoc mentioned to check the fan or really anything externally that moves before removing any major components to see if it solves your problem. I am very suspicious of your flex plate that was marked with a felt pen. I wounder if the flex plate may be 50 ounce imbalance.

det0326 reacted to Midlife in Correct way to Burp the Radiator/Anti-freeze
Just throw the radiator over your shoulder, and with a thick cloth, tap the back side of the radiator until you hear the burp.
Seriously, these old cars are easy to get the air out.  Fill the radiator, start the car, fill the radiator if the water goes below the interior panel, and wait until the water starts moving across the top of the radiator, indicating the thermostat has opened.  Run the heater, just in case.  Fill the radiator to the normal fill level and shut the engine off.  Put on radiator cap.  You're done.
Only the more modern cars have an issue with air pockets above the radiator cap.

det0326 reacted to RPM in Caster Issue ?
Me thinks Brian has a toe alignment issue. I believe Brian's caster not being set as it was before the new strut rod replacement, has resulted in toe out of the r/f tire which makes his car now pull to the right. I'd bet that if he fixed the toe by adjusting both the upper and lower and keeping the caster the same as now, it wouldn't pull. Imo, assuming his prior alignment was good, this would not be the way to align it, just showing it could be done. I would adjust the caster via the strut rod until the toe was set.

det0326 got a reaction from mwye0627 in Which brake booster is right for me?
Not my thread but to follow up on what I mentioned about my brakes I found the booster to be bad. This booster is about 3 years old from purchase date, only been running it for about 1 and 1/2 years. I called Leeds brakes  and he gave me steps in testing the booster that was in more detail than most tests I found on line and it failed a couple of the tests. I called him back the next day and he told me to send him proof of purchase which I did and he sent me a new one no questions asked. Also told me to either keep or discard the old one.  awesome customer service. Even tho I only have about 13 inches of vacuum at Idle the new booster made a huge difference.

det0326 got a reaction from RPM in Which brake booster is right for me?
yes, there is a difference in the distance from pivot point to booster/mc rod.  The distance is 5 inches on a power pedal and 2 inches on a manual pedal.

det0326 got a reaction from MUST in need some good pictures of the exhaust system with AOD
Don't have any pictures but those doug's D669Y is the same that I have on my 351w with AOD and they clear the AOD fine.
I have the CPP steering box and one pipe is really close to it and had to clearance it a little other than that they fit fine. If you have OEM steering box that may not be a problem for you.

det0326 got a reaction from GregoryCet in Replace the burlap? Modern equivalents?
The new foam I used had the burlap made to the back sided/bottom but I also used new burlap on it anyway. If you'er not going to use new foam I would recommend it, to just be sure to get rid of any old car smell. Most any fabric shop would probably have burlap. Hobby Lobby which is a craft type store is where I got mine and was a good quality.

    My Bad
I have been known to get things backwards.
A friend of mine was restoring a 69 the same time I was and we were installing driver side mirrors at the same time. He has an earlier 69, 68 build and mine is a june 69 build. He researched this and told me that the round one was earlier and rectangle was late 69 and 70's and I took him for his word without researching.  After doing a little research on this myself today I question the Feb change over too because if my door panels were original to the car and I think they were they had the rectangle hole long after Feb.

Put a 35 ohm resistor in series with the fuel sender wire to ground and adjust the regulator to get a fuel reading of half a tank. Assuming all your sender units temp, oil, and fuel are correct ohm range you should be good.
