I absolutely love that colour. I have seen two 2016 models in that colour here in Aus and I think it is by far the nicest. Right on dusk it has a lot of depth, absolutely beautiful.

Well done on getting to this point. For myself I feel it is many years away. I can't wait for the day when you can see the bottom of the list of the things to do. Enjoyment time from then on in. Congrats. Especially that you got to do the last bit of the adventure with your son!

This winter break, I have almost completed a 4 year or so restore of my old 69.  My dad got it for me in 80, I drove her for about 10 years, and put her "down" in the garage.  Didn't stay much outside, dad kept her for me for years, then kids, and when the boys turned teen, I brought her out and began the restore.

I've taken a TON of help from the kind people on this forum - which I am greatly appreciative of, and I've finally brought everything into a near final condition.  I haven't posted many pics up to now, but I feel like with the addition of the final side stripes, and new wheels/tires, this old girl is ready for prime time.

After a big push over this holiday season, with fantastic help and encouragement from my son who is home from college, we have these pics from today:

Good for you! You built your car for you and your family. You may have had a son or daughter pitch in , maybe your wife. Also a friend may have contributed somehow.  This is what this hobby Is about. The love for our cars to be sure , but most of all it's about the important people in your life. Also when some say nice car, That's good too.
Just recently I went to this cruise night with my Mach 1. There was this young man oogling my car. He took pictures and  ask a ton of questions. I answered them all. Then when the evening was winding down. I let him start the car. He was absolutely thrilled! His Mom and Grandpa were stunned I would do this. They took pics of him in the car and he was very happy. THIS IS WHAT IT"S ALL ABOUT!
    just my opinion!

What you fell as "play" in the steering wheel is probably relative movement between the inner and outer parts of the spool valve.  This relative movement must occur for the spool valve to direct fluid to provide power assist.  Without that movement, no play in the steering and also no power steering.

Car no longer needs work. Looks and feels brand new as is. So all I am left to do now is enjoying it.

We took it last week-end to a major European car show for display. Got a dozen offers on the car. Serious money as well. How proud were we!!

Not selling though. Not after 20 years of happy ownership. I have put too much sweat, blood and tears on that one to let it go. And I honestly never had a classic car that felt this perfect on the road.

Too funny! Had to search for his welding table post. Roger, I did look at your pics, but do you have a build thread?

Lol! I think my wife is starting to get suspicious with the parts I have stacked next to the stove.

I don't have a build thread. The time I get to work on the car is sporadic at best. I do add pics to my photobucket on occasion when I do accomplish something.

I got a request for a few side photos of the ruby red based on this thread.  Posting them here as I could not figure out how to send via private message.

Caveats:  The wheels are just "shop wheels" (15x6 with 70's) - old and functional, certainly not what she'll roll around with in public) , there is little to no chrome on in these pics, and a lot if not all of the vehicle trim/weatherstripping etc is not on.  It makes the views a bit plain.  Also, the stance is "unadjusted" from original other than it now has the shelby drop.  The back end is high, but the vehicle is lacking a lot of weight (interior/windows/and anything in the trunk) and the shocks are new.

Ditto above. Plus the 69 has a spring on the shaft that the extended ends rest on the pedal and the other books around the vertical pedal arm.

Is that the correct pedal for the car? It looks as if it has the chrome trim.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the 69s had this as an option.

I wanted a 69 pedal that was chrome trimmed to match my brake and E-brake but couldn't find one.

The 68 chrome trimmed pedal has a different mounting. It is the same size and the chrome trim popped off the 68 and fit perfectly on the 69.

I have run into the same thing when I recently did the 70 bolt in glass conversion. I have not found a solution but the fore/aft positioning of the window is definitely affecting the seal around the window in my convertible. However, I have not paid too much attention as the windows are down 99.9% of the time anyway.

I wonder if this is supposed to be floating connection such that it has the freedom to self seek it's position? I hope not because it is causing problems for me.

I watched the video from WCC many times but it is not the same on my car. The Cougar in the video has elongated holes such that the window regulator can be slid back and forth whereas my door has fixed holes.

Completed the install of the rear louver and spoiler. Inserting the rubber seal around the louver was a real pain. Started using silicone spray to aid inserting the rubber in the channel but it was very difficult. After thinking the silicone may swell the rubber, I cleaned it all off and used a light oil. It went better but still very difficult. It took about two hours just on the rubber seal. All else went well.
I'm very happy with the results. Now it looks like the car I remember when I was 18 and dreamed of owning.

Check out midlife first.  He can send you one for your car that will be cheaper and it has all the proper connectors.  I used one and it was super easy to put in (of course my dash was out). http://midlife66.com/

Started the install of the Scott Drake rear window louver and spoiler on my 1970 428CJ. The spoiler did not come with the inside support bracket so I had to order that today. Will post another pic when the job is complete.
