BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted August 10, 2013 here is a video from this evening for the very first time i have ever had it touch the street. everything thing seemed solid and stable. probably put about 3 miles total on it. i chopped the video, but i could hear it throughout the 9 minutes i was out on this first trip. probably wasn't quite legal without the bumpers and front turn signals though.... stangme428 33 Report post Posted August 10, 2013 awesome!!! sounds great!!! im sure you had more thumbs up than you could count while driving that 3 miles....
prayers1 153 Report post Posted August 10, 2013 I must admit, I was a little jealous watching the video, I thought my car sounded good but yours takes it over the top. I grew up near Raceway Park, Old Bridge NJ and your exhaust reminded me of Funny Cars lining up. You've crossed a great milestone, it won't be long before your cruising. Machspeed 219 Report post Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) Nice there Buckeye, but you need to put that camera in the car like 69sportsroof and Maxum did. We all want to go for a ride! Edited August 12, 2013 by Machspeed

BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 thanks for the positive feedback. i will get a good drive by and in car soon (few weeks). i took the lady for a ride yesterday and i was surprised when her first words in the car were something along the lines that it wasn't that loud. it will break the tires loose at 40 mph pretty easily. I split the cost of a trailer with a friend of mine who has a couple old challengers. I spent the afternoon checking the tongue weight and checking the winch, straps, etc. I tried the double wheel tie down and hate them. anyone else secured a car by the tires? Mike65 475 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 I have towed my 69 Coupe several times on a trailer with the tire tie downs & on a tow dolly that uses the tire tie downs & have never had a problem. One of the trips was long distance from western NY state to southern NJ. The trailer with the tire tie downs also had straps for the rear also.

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 I see you got the correct color trailer. I trailered a BMW 525 with my Escalade over 200 miles from LA to Fresno without issue with the tire straps. Velly nice car. Bob

Bob i don't have security issue with the tire straps. the style in the below picture was very cumbersome to use, plus the strap over the wheel was too long and if the setup wasn't pulled down as much as possible could flap and hit the fender. the third complaint is simply not having a spot to ratchet it down to in the area of the axles. do you have a link to the style you are referencing? prayers1 153 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 Here's a picture of my car when I just picked it up from the bodyshop the other day. I rented a U-Haul, this was the first time I ever used a wheel tie down and was impressed how tight and secured it was. I usally use a tow chain on each end and wrestle with it to tighten it up with a lever load binder. You might want to visit a local U-Haul dealer and check how it's set up. Here's a website that sells tow equipment (TulsaChain.com)

BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 Picture did not come out above. Here's another try. that's the same style of u-haul i rented. it's just not a configuration i want to put on this flatbed.
RPM 1,190 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 Mine was also a u- haul, no pics. Bob

MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted August 13, 2013 If I recall, we did the same as prayers1 -- a single car flatbed (from U-Haul) with tire tie downs up front and over the axle tie downs in the back. Pulled it from New Orleans to Panama City, FL without issue. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures. Chuck
prayers1 153 Report post Posted August 31, 2013 Can you please post a picture of your Quarter Windlace, from top to bottom. I'm having a tough time with these repros finding the best place for it to end near the window. There seems to be a little flap at the top end, should that flap lay flat or tuck over to the rubber 1/4 window channel where it is held by a screw? Thank You! 69_mach_1 10 Report post Posted September 2, 2013 Hey Buckeye, You reference Epoxy paint several times in your earlier posts. Could you elaborate on that process? Are you spraying it on? Dipping? Brushing? What is the brand? Sorry to be asking so late in the build. Thanks
BuckeyeDemon 211 Report post Posted September 2, 2013 You reference Epoxy paint several times in your earlier posts. Could you elaborate on that process? Are you spraying it on? Dipping? Brushing? What is the brand? I use the PPG Deltron DPLF series of epoxy. It's just the brand I'm used to and I can't comment on the others (I guess DP years ago...). I always spray as it's easier to get consistency. I've used a 1.8 tip and a 1.4 tip. Generally I always reduce it per the instructions and apply two coats. I always use DP401LF catalyst. They have a few colors and in some instances mixed them to get some other shade. A link to the datasheet can be found here: DPLF Series
