  1. That's why I asked @mikee what the stroke of the Astra rack is. It may have more stroke and no or less reduction in turning circle. Even though Astra is GM, may be the gears inside are different.
  2. That is a good picture you found Mach1 Driver. Looks like the adjustments change the sweep angle of the needle, and the needle position at full and empty.
  3. No worries, I'll bump into the truck gauge I have one day and open it up if it has the holes and cogs.
  4. I have a pair of Sage brown 70 doors which appear to have original paint, the bottom of the doors are light brown. I have an originally yellow 70 vert with black standard interior, the door bottoms are black. A 69 in lime gold with standard black interior, door bottoms are black.
  5. Randy, I couldn't find the fuel gauge I have from an 80's Ford truck to check, can you remove the back cover on that gauge and see if the cogged wheels only adjust the high and low stops of the needle or do something else?
  6. I buy the parts I expect to replace later on vehicles I don't plan to sell from Autozone as they have life time warranty. I recently bought a Duralast fan clutch and it was made in USA; this does not mean all their parts are made in USA. Get their new MC not the rebuild one as the rebuild one I put on my Bronco in 2009 leaked this year and Autozone replaced it. This time I paid the difference and got the new one. Other parts stores also sell parts with life time warranty.
  7. My paint supply gal scanned my 69 nugget gold door panels to come up with the formula as the color was not available on charts she had. Also, I remember seeing spray can for nugget gold vinyl at summit, but it was not PPG.
  8. What is the stroke of the Astra rack? Are you going to loose turning radius? I assume you are going to change the center take of and make a custom one so you do not have bump steer.
  9. Are you having the generic stick on window tint done on rear and side glass?
  10. Are you going to keep it or replace it? What are you going to use as replacement, foam or make cotton padding like originals?
  11. Actually that is a good idea; just make sure to use new ones, not used :)
  12. #4 on that sketch looks like the window adjustment bracket inside the door, not the plate with two holes that gets painted.
  13. Their is a plate that goes on item 4 which 2 bolt #D goes through and also one just above the door catch on the pillar for coupe and verts. So 2 on doors, 2 on pillar which the bolts for window adjustment bracket goes through.
  14. Holley #12-305 sender and pump is what I am using with my original style tank. Don't know how long it takes to bleed, just looked at my car which has not been started for 3 weeks and pressure gauge was at the bottom. The fuel line from the pump to the EFI body is full of gas, it shouldn't be draining back to the tank as injectors are closed when ignition is off so building the pressure after it bleeds off should happen in milliseconds as fluids are not compressible.
  15. Looking good, and good luck on getting it tuned for all conditions. By the way, Holley has a returnless sender/pump that fits to stock tanks and outlet and wires are on the sender mounting flange like yours.
  16. An old timer body man told me to fill that gap with brass/silver braze and using a cut off wheel create the factory looking gap on filler metal so it won't crack later on.
  17. Do you have old electronics repair shops left around you or know someone who tinkers with electronics? I know an old timer who fixes radios etc but he is in Europe and don't know if it is worth shipping it for him to check it out and see if he can fix it.
  18. I would match the new, floor support to other side and check a few spots like motor mount area , front of the frame etc and see if both right and left frame rail measurements from your datum line match in those locations.
  19. This is how the car was assembled, after years of usage, bending, twisting and sagging, you may not get all the dimensions on that sketch without putting it on a frame machine and adjusting by bending/pulling/pushing etc.
  20. The bottom of the front floor support should be level, starting from where X-6 is pointing and back; this is how I interpret that sketch. Also, there is no general tolerance given but dimensions E, F and G say plus or minus 3/16; I would use that as the tolerance for other dimensions. You are aware that X-6 1/2 is from center of spring hole, not bottom of rear frame, right?
  21. You do not need a long level, just make a water level using clear tubing, a jug of water and a stick or level. You should be able to find some pictures of this setup if you search the net. I have a 25 feet clear tube I use for this purpose. You can level your jack stands and the points of the body this way. I marked some spots on my floor after using water and use those spots when I am doing alignment etc. I use floor tiles to get jack stands or tires on the low spots to level with other tires or stands. I tape my tube to a level which has markings in inches so I can measure the height difference between 2 points on the car.
  22. Are you going to use epoxy primer? If I use epoxy primer when I paint my 70 vert, I wouldn't paint the interior areas that are not visible and the cowl buckets; just a couple coats of exopy should be good for rust protection. I will paint the cowl under the grill as a lot of it will be visible through grill and paint inside the trunk.
  23. I hope you are working on a level surface, might want to check that first. Concrete garage floors are usually not level. Let us know how it goes.
  24. Are you asking how it was painted from the factory?
  25. You folks down under have to do a lot of cut and paste.
