I ended up going on the conservative side with a 235/60 on the front. If there's enough room I will change to a 245 later on. Here's how they turned out

The headers that came with the engine were not even close to fitting even with some tweaks, I was probably a bit optimistic there... They came in handy though, new headers made up following the same step design 1 3/4, 1 7/8 to  2" but the bends configured to fit easily. We able use the collectors too. Headers bolt on and off no problem at all and the rest of the exhaust finished as well.

My old girl made Ford Muscle Magazine! Story is pretty close, about 80%... but overall I'm pretty proud!!  https://www.fordmuscle.com/features/a-51-year-survivors-tale-rob-simons-1969-mach-i-mustang/

We do things differently at MTF, we take of the customer first, then deal with the manufacturer  :)

    Scoop finished

We are getting close to finished - minor rust repairs in the doors, hard lines for engine oil to and from the trunk, fit rear bumper a little closer, and a strut brace rod and we're good to start on the exhaust.

Radiator support done and made removable. I hope I'm not pulling the engine and trans out often but this will make life alot easier when it's required.

The scoop almost finished, we aren't allowed to have carbs etc hanging out the hood here in QLD unless under a scoop. This will bolt on from underneath so it can be taken off if desired though.

Theres always the "cut and fit" option for a steel bumper.

Fuel tank construction underway, it's looking great.

And the wheels which were only just ordered have arrived already! Trans Am Race Engineering are fantastic to deal with and they are available in the States as well. They even machined up and fitted the steel inserts for the 5/8 studs. For anyone that is interested I weighed both the 10's and 8's and took a couple of pics so you can see the different spokes.

The fuel tank is finished and sump tank recessed into trunk. The fuel tank holds 75 litres which is about the standard capacity I believe

The engine breathes out the bottom of the sump tank. I'll see how it goes but depending on how much oil residue results from venting there I may have to weld fittings on the outlets and vent to a separate catch tank.

Thanks fvike, they've made the crossmember already. The engine sits further back than the factory location and it incorporates a route for the exhaust as well.

My understanding is because an 8 inch wheel has an overall width of 9 inches. The 8 inches is measured where the tire bead is located. Half of 9 is 4-1/2.

Bad news on the fires here. A Canadian C130 Hercules with a USA crew crashed on Thursday 23 with no survivors in the 3 man crew. Pretty shocking, we've had helicopters and fixed wings crash but nothing this size.
At this stage nothing is known why it went down. I am part of fire aviation and the flight trace looked normal until it went down. It dropped retardant for 2 seconds just before we lost sight of it.
We have had a lot of US and Canadian aviation people over this year and they have been some of the best people we work with. Their level of expertise is very high and they all hit the ground running. They found that the word 'mate' has many variations from positive to negative but can be used in every social situation.
It's bad enough to loose people in fires, worse still when they are miles from home and away from family helping out strangers.
    RIP B134 and thanks.

A bit of a break over Christmas and back into it, gearbox crossmember done and master cylinders mounted up. We are going to need to make new pedals to move them to the right to allow heel toe gear changes. Until I get down to the shop to sit in the car and measure them up that's as far as we can go there. There's still plenty to do - Fuel tank, dry sump mounting, make new dry sump pan for the engine and sorting total engine height and bonnet clearance (or lack thereof).

    Hello
I have just released an new light design.
Daytime running lights for the 69-70.  These turn your park light to white DRLs.  The turn lights remain amber.
The turn lights are about 5x brighter than the 1157A bulb.
LEDs on the left, 1157A on the right.
Just contact me thru my web site if interested.

It took me a bit to get it to the shop but the fellas have been getting some big bits done:
    Tubs widened to the rail

Chassis plated, anti roll bar tacked in. Springs moved inside the rails, rear crossmember and front crossmember with exhaust cutouts (tailshaft cutout to be done once we're back on the ground). Chassis connectors started as well.

Engine and box fitted, angles set, mid and box mounts to be done.

Next on the list is making the fuel tank, and mounting the dry sump tank and battery in the trunk.

I had the axles machined to accept the new press ins and had to get the disks machined as well to fit over the 5/8 studs.

To get it rolling I had some BA Falcon rims with 2nd hand tyres. I had to put the rims on backwards with spacers because of the Falcon offset and shortened housing.

Worked out ok and this week coming we're off to the body shop!
