  1. Are the tail lights in good condition? Do they have the trim rings?
  2. Back in the day when my engine was stock I could get about 20mpg on the freeway with my 2bbl 302 and 2.89 rear end. In the city that would drop dramatically. I have no idea what I get now, nor do I care.
  3. I was hoping it was as easy as the wrong firing order. Are you absolutely sure you have the wires on the dizzy cap set correctly? I had mine off by one to the left and it threw everything off. Is your #1 wire connected to the spot where your rotor is pointing at the #1 cylinder at TDC? With #1 cylinder at TDC the rotor should be pointing at the #1 cylinder. The #1 plug wire should be on top of the rotor at that point. Then follow your firing order around. You didn't connect the wires on the dizzy going the opposite direction by chance?
  4. I agree to post your cam # to verify, but I'll bet you need to change to 13726548.
  5. Which 302 firing order are you using? If you used anything but a stock cam you probably will need to use a 351 firing order.
  6. What kind of tires do you want? You'll have more "sporty" options with the 17" Will you be adding large brakes? If so, there are more options with the 17". I had the same dilemma as you and ended up getting a smoking deal on some used 15" with tires. I'm very happy with the older style look. My '01 mustang has 17" wheels. I'd stick with a 45 series tire to avoid any harshness.
  7. The saga continues. After having some over heating problems this summer I decided to install a 3 row radiator. While I was at it I replaced the thermostat...again. I also added concours hoses (I like to look original where I can, even with a restomod). While at it I damaged one of my transmission cooling lines so I needed to replace them. They needed it anyways since they had been cut and spliced previously. Had a heck of a time getting the lines to fit and had to order a set directly from Classic Tube. They worked much better. Also added new valve covers and air cleaner. Took the car out yesterday and really enjoyed the drive. I'm just slightly off on my alignment with a slight drift, but I can fix that. Next project is going to be new rear leafs and bilstein shocks. Sometime in the next year I'll complete the engine conversion from 2V to 4V along with the heads.
  8. Way too much work for a coupe. Maybe buy it to part out and make some money, but even that is more work than it is worth. Definitely no more than $500.
  9. You pull the handle straight towards you. Sometimes the handle gets bent because people step on it instead of the pedal, which makes it difficult to disengage.
  10. I have the fastrax and like it. You can do it with simpler things and I'm sure someone will tell you what they use. Oh, turning the front wheels while sitting on top of folded plastic trash bags helps as well. If you're lucky enough to find the turning dial plate things instead (sorry, can't remember what they are called) off of craigslist they would be nice to have.
  11. Unplug your sending unit at the tank and then ground out the wire to the frame or something else back there. Have someone look at the gas gauge while you do this. If your gas gauge goes to full then your sending unit is bad. Don't keep it grounded too long or you can damage a good gauge. Don't forget to turn the key to give power to the gauge. It is possible to get a bad unit, I had to use 2 as the first one didn't register properly. I like the plastic as I don't have to worry about it corroding.
  12. What Bruce said. I replaced all my vacuum lines when I redid my car. It was very easy because of the color coding and instructions. I've never had any problems with my system. As long as your car's vacuum system is working you should have no problems.
  13. Stupid question, but if your car originally had power brakes isn't there already a canister under the passenger wheel well? Edit: I just realized I have that because of my a/c...at least I think that is why I have it. But either way, that is a stock option for you to do.
  14. Not sure if your valance is repop or original, but if it is repop get yourself something original. My repop valance wasn't even close to my original. Ended up reworking the original. Good luck, but I'd also let the shop do it to minimize paint damage.
  15. I have their front coilover and love it. You can read my impression at the end of my project link below.
  16. My series starting from way back in the day.
  17. Yes, pics! I can only imagine how much better it cruises. So now when are you moving on to the next big mod?
  18. Looks great. Can't wait to see the final product. Is this a picture of the car mentioned earlier?
  19. If you don't care about originality go for these. They are super nice and easy. You may be able to borrow/rent the correct size wrench from an auto store. http://www.streetortrack.com/Street-or-Track-Adjustable-Strut-Rods-pr-16135.html
  20. I'd say the main problem with 16" is the limited tire choices, but I think it is a good size for our cars. If you look somewhere on the last few pages of my project thread you should be able to find some pictures of my wheels. They are basically 15" minilites.
  21. Very nice looking. You have a right to be proud about your work. Engine looks wonderful, hope mine can look so good someday.
