ray1970 got a reaction from ernaqe3 in What's normal operating temp of 351W?
Not wanting to turn this into a dist. re curve thread.
You could make up a bench top dist re curve thingy with very little effort
Most of the time your just changing the spring rate to what RPM you want it all in by and how fast or slow
it gets there.
This can be done by anybody that HAS a tack and a good TIMING LIGHT.
Having some springs on hand helps a lot too..
This is the way I see it.
Me... I have gotten lazy and just push numbers on a key pad..

ray1970 got a reaction from RPM in I Step Forward 2 Steps Back
Not much help on this one..
I have found that working on an old car is more like a pendulum..
You are always back and forth
Sometimes more back than forth. THATS the fun of it ?????

Back in the day..We started with gloss paint and added flattener and did test
panels till we got what looked right.
Looking right did not mean its was right..

ray1970 got a reaction from lancaires in HEAD ROOM ISSUE
Im 5.10 and have never been a lay back driver.(up close stile)
Redone the seats twice and they still bag out in time..
BUT if I needed to move the seat back I would just re drill the floor pan as needed...
Or cutoff and re weld the rail bolts as needed.
OR both

ray1970 got a reaction from RPM in It is Time
After 30+ years of not being in the BUDGET this past Saturday I pushed the order button on one..
Going to start my own redo thread soon..I already have a Lindsay 100 sand blaster.
Its a pain just for random small parts...
Trying to do all the things I can do and still drive it..
As not to overwhelm myself half way threw the project...
Tinman is going at it the same I have....Drive and Fix. Drive and Update. Way more fun...

Bent it with a floor jack? You can do better
Was hoping you went off road at speed...Missed every tree and landed on a stone wall at the end only to drive it out throw a swamp.
(With your best girl) And still get her home on time.............
I didn't make this up........
Truth be told we were a little late....

ray1970 got a reaction from Mach1 Driver in rear main
Dont know about a 302 but i had to redo the rear main seal on my 351C shortly after the install..
1.Remove cross member
2.Remove oil pan.
3.Get covered with oil.
4.Remove main caps(All)
5.BE happy to see bearings are still good..
6.Push(spin) seal out with special tool NO.321AB& (bent coat hanger)
7.Install new seal... Hoping it dosent get hang up half way threw and mal the rubber....
8.Wonder if you put the seal in the right way?????
9.Go get more beer.
10.Clean up all parts and reinstall.
11.Tell every body how easy it really was...
12.Tell your wife what a living hell you just went threw...
13.After all this find out it was the oil presser line on the back of the block leaking..

ray1970 got a reaction from shaun071 in Opinions Needed -- Engine/Drivetrain Mods in 69 Mach
Hell ya its worth it.
Do we need FI
Do we need 5speeds and lower gears
Do we need sup. upgrades
Do we need 4 wheel disk breaks
Do we need 550hp
Do we need to piss the wife off by working on are cars
when she thinks a bathroom redo would be a better use of time.(money)
The answer is.__NO_______
But it make the driving experience far better and sometimes safer with each one I do.
The car I got off the side of the road 39 years ago is not the same car I have today.
Its safer-faster and far more dependable .....
WAY MORE FUN TO DRIVE..
