Ardmxurfal reacted to geraldchainsaw in power steering cyl
hi,  i can't find it in the repair manuals,   the power steering cyl that mounts to the frame,  the bracket on the frame has a 3/4 or 7/8 hole that the cyl rod goes thru,  does any one have a picture of what or how is used to hold it in place?,    i made a nylon type washer to fit in the hole and 2 nylon washers outside the shole to hold it in place,  but  i don't think its right,   does any one know?,  thanks    jerry

Ardmxurfal reacted to Caseyrhe in 69 Mach
New to the site and have already benefited from it and given back some as well. My newest project is a 69 Mach 390, auto with factory ac, ps, and pb. Will be going back all original including the color, being black Jade and black int. I'm hoping this one will replace that lost feeling of the 69 Mach 428SCJ Drag pack car I owned in HS, then selling it in 85 due to not ever driving it and my parents telling me to come get it out of their driveway. The 70 vert I finished last year didn't due it, the 68 J code coupe A start to finish in 8 months didn't do it either, so maybe this FE Mach will. It took me 1 1/2 years of bugging the guy before he finally caved and sold it to me, finally!! I will be using Triple F for the paint and body, same restoration company that did my 70 Vert. Plan to get it to them in a few weeks, in which they will have it for 8-9 months. During that time while she's away, I will be cleaning, polishing chrome, restoring dash and gauge components, carpeting fold down, and.......... Check out my gallery for other cars in the stable and the Mach's progress. Plan is to have her ready for the first 2017 local car shows.

I thought this was a fun build.  I like the paint but think I'd personally swap the wheels out.  The one thing I'm trying to wrap my head around is the math.  They said they spent 40k on the car and parts (seems low) and 310 hours on the build.  It sold for 56.5k.  Now if you were paying straight rates at shop that is at least 20k in man hours probably closer to 25k.  Even if you own the business and pay 1/2 that, it doesn't seem like a lot of profit.  But most the time was volunteer time I think.  Not that I'm knocking them building the car I just always have a laugh at the prices and profits they show on reality shows.

I purchased this on ebay about a year ago anticipating using it in my rebuild.  Plans change so I'm offering this up here before I return it to ebay...

Let me know if you're interested, I really don't know the market for these, it seems to be all over the place.  Make an offer.

Hi All, I'm tossing around the idea of painting my coupe black with silver striping and tail light panel. Same basic scheme as what's on it now, just silver where it's black and black where it's blue.

    Thanks Shaun

Ardmxurfal reacted to cobra3073 in 428CJ Exhaust System
As some of you may know, I am getting REAL close to completing the 428CJ install on my '69 (original H Code) Mach 1.

As it impacts the exhaust system, the car has been modified in part with staggered shocks, subframe connectors,an ADDCO 3/4" rear sway bar and Hooker Super Competition headers.

I have done a search and have not been able to find any threads that seem to address this configuration as it relates to the exhaust system. I would love to run a 3" system all the way back to the rear of the car and was wondering about "REAL World" experience of Members who are or have tried to run this type system with the staggered shocks and the 428CJ motor in a '69. I realize it will be EXTREMELY tight to run the 3" pipes over the axles and that I may have to settle for a 2.5" limit. As to mufflers, I am more into the "bite" rather than the "bark" as it relates to performance. I am not necessarily into the "sound" but rather the performance. The 428CJ motor, while relatively mild, is using a 282S Solid lifter cam and is bored .030 over with about 10.3 compression ratio with a 3:91 gear. So, again, I would like to get some REAL world inputs as to what you 428 owners have or have run with your cars for an exhaust system.

    Thanks!

Ardmxurfal reacted to Dave R. in tire treatment
Is there a tire treatment that leaves the tire looking like new not shiny like it is covered in grease? I dislike the shiny, wet look and would like to to find a cleaner that leaves the tire looking like the tire did when it was new. Any suggestions? And no, I have not tried any cleaners as I am unsure which one will suit my need.  Thanks.   Dave R.

Watch this show when I can and had to do a double take earlier this week !!   It was the star car of the day so it was in a number of scenes.

Pretty clean looking dark blue '69 Hardtop with Hood Scoop & Mirrors (no engine numbers on scoop, so Sports Appearance Group if orig and guessing a 302 under the hood), standard black interior ... wheels looked like Torq Thrust style.

Funny thing is we then are watching Saturday Night Live on HULU today and on an episode from last Spring the EXACT SAME car on is on the show !!

    Pretty strange stuff.

Ardmxurfal reacted to 7TCatvert in New aluminum Radiator
My 390 had been running a little hot around 200. It was new heavy duty radiator from MU.

I decided to switch it out to an aluminum one off eBay. I have a Griffen one in my Cougar but was not going to spend another 600. So I thought I would give this one a chance.

Lowered the temp down to 185, all day long. Fit was perfect and it looks good in natural color.

I now have an extra radiator if anyone needs one.
