  1. See the pictures from Brian Conway in this thread, they are correct and what I was referring to. 69 is different than 70 if that matters to you. The 70 trunk lids had an oval hole punched in the under structure in the right location for where the same bracket would be used. You can use the same deck lid if it is in good shape and you want to weld up the holes. I don't know where that deck lid comes from but I have seen generic versions that look like the originals that have been sole to fit ' any application' so it is my guess that what it is. Either that or it was bought at a swap meet and they though it would work....then they made it work Bob
  2. You have the writing wing in that the width of the pedestals is not correct. You also do not have a deck lid that originally had a spoiler as there should be 2 round holes next to the hinge ( for 69) that a bracket bolts to the hinge bolts and holds spacers that go up through the round holes. The spoiler mounts to that bracket Bob
  3. Can't really adjust the front valence but you need to look where the fender meets the windshield to see of they are adjusted about the same. Also you may want to check corner to corner alignment and see that the rear end is square to the car and to the front suspension. May need to adjust it a little and then alight to the rear end ( aligh in relation to) which is called a torque thrust alignment or 4 wheel alignment. If it was me I think I would want to find an old school alignment guy that really knows his stuff verses the kid operating the fancy machine Bob
  4. I don't think so. I think the shaker opening is a little wider than the Mach scoop If I remember correctly Bob
  5. Dimension to fender is not reliable. Fenders can me moved forward and back and could vary location pending the door alignment as well as gaps and fender alignment. Alignment rack says it all. Bob
  6. The only, reason to,run through an external, cooler and the radiator cooler is to warm the trans faster in cold climates and that is assuming you even drive the car in the cold. Otherwise I would run external cooler, only Bob
  7. You will have a mile of slop in the wheel otherwise it's fine slow around the block Bob
  8. Pickle fork is fine on the spindle but bad on the ball joint. Use it Bob
  9. Take a look at the mounting tabs for the interior fiberglass and you will see that they come in from the factory tubs. You can move the inner tub in till you reach that point but there is also some reinforcements inside the fiberglass that will have to be removed so that they will sit flat against the tub. You don't gain much but there is a little to gain. With that said, I could be wrong and we could be in big trouble on what were are going with his car. But that is what it looked like to us so we started to move foreword. Bob
  10. We are doing this with a friends car now. You can only go in about 2" on each side before you will run out of room. We actually discussed narrowing the seats and fold down but didn't want to do,it Bob
  11. I like the forged center and would even think about painting the center to match or compliment the car. Not on your list but I think I would love to see some custom biller versions of the original GT when your car would have come with. That would be totally different and bad-ass Bob
  12. I like, the car low,but think it will,be too low,to,drive without problems. I also think the spring rate is to low for handling and for the height of the car Bob
  13. I think the ford pump us about 800 to 900 psi You need pressure and volume flow. If I recall the ford pump has lots of flow and not so much pressure verses some of the newer cars pumps that have more pressure and not as much flow Bob
  14. How modified is your car going to be? And what are you going to use the car for? I have done a couple of cars where I install the convertible bracing in a coupe. I like it because it's stealth and doesn't hang down like, other frame connectors. Pick up a copy of the ford trans am suspension modification guide. The information in that manual comes from ford and the engineers that designed the mustang chassis. Many of the modifications or at least the basis of the SN95 modifications are based on the ford engineers. If,you don't want to go that far you can always add just the torque boxes and not the inner rockers, you have to remember that ford added the torque boxes to many of the big block coupes and fastbacks so they knew it was needed. In the chassis manual they show to weld,up the towers and to add a triangular plate to the towers to reduce flex. I have done that to several cars and it works great Bob
  15. They are different. Very different I bet I do have one I can sell Bob
  16. If you were to do it what I would do is cut from the crank hole straight up to the top and make a big U shape cut out. Pull the trans back and slip the plate upward past and onto the alignment pins. If it was my car I would remove the trans and do it right, but above is how I would do it if I had to Bob
  17. Not sure if it's too late to say this but I think I would have found a coupe and taken the section with the qtr, rocker, and door post off as an assembly and installed onto the convertible. You would add the inner rocker in at that time and convert the upper part of the qtr as well. I am in the process of a rebuild of my 66 conv and I have the rear part stripped to the frame rails and the entire rear qtr section and trunk floor is coming off of a coupe and then will have the upper part of the qtrs converted to conv by using the original conv metal parts Bob
  18. bad is the metal on the car? where is the damage? depending on whats wrong with the car i would be tempted to hunt up a good used coupe qtr panel and splice it in rigth below the top of the qtr body line bob
  19. In many ways attaching under the shock mounts is better than in front of the tower. But the problem is that to do work to the car you may have to remove the whole brace verses just the MC bar How good at fabricating are you? You could make a couple plates that mount under the shock mounts and then make a tube that attaches to those plates. You then have an MC bar that you drilled no holes and is still removable for service Bob
  20. I just did the R&R of the transmission on the 69 All I used was the big jack stands. I don't like ranks either. Bob
  21. I have the MC bar on all,of my cars and I like having it there. But I do drive my cars anywhere from spirited to hard. If your car is stock and you drive it easy then don't worry about it. If you want to drive it hard then add the MC. On my. 69 I did not drill the added holes as the car is a survivor car and I think it's fine without the added drilling. So,what are you going to do with your car? Easy or hard? Bob
  22. Decent car other than the hood, grille, front valence and light buckets Bob
  23. You can look for an. 8" posi, or you can install that unit you show. Either way you have to take the pumpkin apart and reset it. Installing an 8.8 is easy if you can weld or know someone. You need to buy the perches and weld them to the rear end You could also do some fab work and modify your car to use a 4 link like the factory setup If you got the sonar car as a wreck I bet you could cut the rear frame sections out and weld them into your car and use the rear with all the stock late model suspension Bob
  24. Remove original piece, weld this one in Bob
