Drove the 69 as well this week-end. 600 miles. Cruised along the border between France and Switzerland with a bunch of other ponies. Car performed like a dream... Sweet wife came along and enjoyed every second of it.

And France qualified for the semi-finals of the Euro.
    Life is good.

Check my reverse lights that I plugged in yesterday. I got blind too! These are the brighter (7 LEDs) version.

Thanks Barnett. We call it "self-ignition" here. Why is it called "dieseling" in the US?

USAA finally sent us their check. It took 8 months, tons of stress and useless discussions over the phone, but they finally paid and they did cover all my expenses and a little more.

    Amen! ;-)

Today, in addition to being Halloween, was an incredibly beautiful fall day in France. Amazing light which allowed a few nice pics. For those who like wine, we live in the Beaujolais vineyard. The 68 belongs to a good friend and neighbor of mine. Now that we are done restoring them, we just enjoy driving and looking at them.

    No, 1 piece felpro for 69-87 http://m.summitracing.com/parts/fel-os30214t

Edit, Rsanter when you said you used it with your old oil pan I'm guessing you using a late model block. Did you use the early pan gasket (69-87) or one of the later ones? If later it could have been designed for the smooth rail pan, using that on an early ribbed rail pan will result in it leaking.

My current 1969 GT Sportsroof was the first car I ever bought. Found it in Switzerland for 5,000 bucks.

Then, one evening, after stopping at a gas station to top up before driving back home, impossible to start the engine. Zero. Sounded like a dead battery or something (solenoid clicking, starter dead), but I was a little skeptical since it's a brand new optima red top. Decided to jump start the car with my cables (lucky my friend was with me in his 68 fastback), but nothing happened either. We finally pushed it and it started fine in 3rd (it has a toploader).

Once back home, I decided to check the starter first and found out its internals were completely grenaded... I did not hear a thing, and still haven't got a clue about what could have happened. It is an original starter but may be not to this car as part number starts with C7xxx). Anyways, it was old. Replacement is on it's way already (Powermasters OE style) and hopefully, that should fix the issue.

Yep, that happened a couple times already. It's very embarrassing, you know, when you start speaking to people in a shop using the wrong language... They look at you like you are crazy or something. It usually happens when you are distracted or tired. I also seem to have forgotten some words. I know how to say something in English but struggle to find the French word for it. Especially with car and mechanics related stuff.

But make no mistake: if that's the only price to pay for having spent almost 4 years in a foreign country, then I don't mind at all. In comparison, the cultural benefits are just... incredible!

Went to my first cruise last week-end: around 300 miles with lots of mountain driving and a couple hours on the interstate to go there and back. Car loved it, worked awesome, and really made me a proud owner!

Hi Randy. Almost there. Container landed in France (Le Havre) earlier this week with the two Stangs. Going through the customs at this time. Delivery at home is scheduled Thursday. I can't wait to fire the car up again! While waiting, I kept myself busy prepping the new garage: floor, lights, etc. The final result should be pretty cool. Stay tuned!

As for now, enjoying some high quality family time in the French Alps. No matter how much I enjoy traveling, Home will always be Home! ;-)
