Complete rear end configuration feedback
rwcstang replied to LSwat's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
oh ok, i thought were talking about ford 9" or 8". currently I have a 8" setup with 2:79's (lame) don't know if i should upgrade to a complete 9" setup (housing/axles/3rd) or buy an 8"3rd member from an ebay seller that claims his ford 8" can handle up to 550hp. but since i have a c4 from PA performance, Im debating what gears to go with. anyways thanks for the heads up. -

Late model front end under a 67 possible ?
rwcstang replied to ragtopjames's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
what he said^^^ but there are kits out there, you don't have to go with a kmember kit, you can mod what you have now and it will be fine. I've been thinking of doing this mod myself http://www.ajeracing.com/64-70Mustang.php Build Thread: http://mustangforums.com/forum/classic-mustangs-tech/430860-aje-racing-front-suspension-install-on-a-67-mustang.html It uses a custom K member to incorporate the R&P, and use late model spindles/suspension but unsure if you have to mod the stock modern stuff(maybe someone can fill in on this), I haven't seen many reviews on them, I could only find one and they said they loved it. -
on mine they went all the way down, check it out and adjust the rails if need be

looks good, but hows the turning radius? no rub?
-
heheh i hear ya, if you like get sound deadening material and finish your interior, also i would go ahead and replace and upgrade the front and rear suspension i think spending a couple $$$ should make that problem go away.
-
could be a typo but here are the specs of the car: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2011/12/06/car-feature-gt-gt-this-is-the-rtr-x.aspx I think its a superb build, Hopefully one day i can do the same thing.

the early 80 mustangs 302'a were weak especially the transmission, get a t5 from 91+ the tq rating was better i believe in those years, you can also rebuild any t5 to a t5z spec.

maier has different size whale tales, you can see one of their wings on the needforspeed 69 drift car fitted with the 2011 5.0. Im sure if you talk to them, they can make something for you to fit your coupe.

yeah thats the guy, he says his 8 can withstand the power putting out, so i don't plan on going any faster. my 392w was dyno'd at 450+hp from fps so what I think I'm expecting at least low 400's rwhp so thats good enough for me. I don't plan on drag racing, maybe auto x and some road racing but it will rarely see the track.

i know who you are referring too, he is knowledgable person. I might go with him. Im putting up almost the same hp/tq rating as you.

love the gauges! can't wait to see them installed.

very nice wheels? where did you get them? -
thank you for the link I've been looking for something like this.

most c4's are pretty much the same its matter of how you are going to rebuild it. most every transmission shop can rebuild them to your specs. I got my "street fighter" c4 from performance automatic a few years back no complaints just plug and play lol :) but later on i hope to switch to a 5 speed. but since your replacing the auto why not convert to a 5 speed? you would probably be spending the same amount (if you fish out the parts yourself) if you tend to keep your 351w stock with some mild mods i suggest get a 91-93 t5 or get a t5z from ford. this will place your rpms very low and save some gas mpg at the same time or if you wanna still stick with auto you can go AOD.

let us know how it goes im thinking of ordering a rear bumper or side view mirrors from them. -
this was the first mod i've ever done when i got my hands on my car, good conversion saved me a couple of times when i was young and reckless. Now i got a new motor with some mods so I had to upgrade to vintage venoms brake conversion kit, I haven't installed them yet but looking forward to difference of braking power. The Granada swap is very good.
