  1. I know quite a few guys on here are running FPA headers on their 351W but what mid pipes are you using with this setup? I was thinking about taking the car to a exhaust shop and having them make a custom H pipe, but if there is something out there mass produced that fits nice I would rather go that route. As always any insight is appreciated.
  2. I figured this question had to have been asked at some point in the past but I couldn't find anything while searching. I got a set of headers from ford power train applications and they are beautiful, I need a mid pipe and cat back to pair with this and was wondering what brand everyone likes/runs. I'm leaning pretty heavily towards an H pipe , but am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance for anyone who can provide any insight.
  3. I just got done working with Bruce at modern driveline and getting my driveshaft made and installed. I strongly suggest giving him a call, he knows his stuff. I agree there shouldn't be a difference between your car and another car that has done the same setup, but especially with these older vehicles it never hurts to talk through it with a professional and then provide the measurements.
  4. Haven't heard of it but I'm going to check it out, thanks.
  5. The Self contained is appealing, and with this being my first serious engine build, I'd like to keep it as simple as possible in some sense. I have heard great things about megasquirt, but i'm leaning towards the FAST 2.0 due to the horsepower limits you can achieve, after further investigation of the Atomic, even with the increased horsepower kit, it apparently caps out around 600 horsepower at the fly wheel. I appreciate the feed back and I'll definitely check out that forum, I look forward to any other input. Thanks guys!
  6. I guess engine specs are important as the kits are usually limited to Horsepower ranges I have a 351W bored and stroked to 427, it should make around 550-600 Horsepower.
  7. I am finally at the last stages of building the motor () and I want to go with some kind of EFI. The one I was really looking at was the FAST EFI 2.0. However, the only few reviews I saw on summit were both very negative. I am looking for some first hand experience with EFI kits and what members on this forum are running. The only 2 big names i've heard of are EZ-EFI by Fuel Air Spark Technology, and MSD atomic EFI. The one thing I liked about EZ EFI was that due to me having no ignition system I could purchase their distributor and it would actually speak to the ECU part of the EZ-EFI. I welcome all feedback and input, hoping to order a kit this week and get started on it next weekend!
  8. I am currently trying to piece together an ignition system for my 427W (351 bored and stroked) I currently have nothing for the motor ignition wise or fuel wise. It is a complete long block with a Victor Jr. Intake manifold. I like the idea of EFI but all the kits that are over 500 HP are well over 2-3k and to me that's a bit much. Looking for any feedback as far as complete kits, name brands to stick with, or thoughts on piecing a kit together. I plan to use this car for a nice weather/summer driver, reliability is very important to me. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. -Nick
  9. oh another thought, have you tried standing in the trunk and rocking the car up and down? If the suspension is worn you should feel it and may even be able to replicate the "bang"
  10. How long go did this banging start? How old are you leaf springs and shocks? Is it any bump or do you have to be going a moderate speed to get the bang? The only thing I could think of banging wise is the rear end hitting the bump stops and this would happen if your rear suspension is pretty worn. I'm sure some of the other guys will chime in, but I feel like these questions are a good start.
  11. I just put Wilwoods on my car. I went through a whole fiasco with brake fitment, spindle size, and the tie rods. TCP offers the 1970 spindle with the granada tie rod size holes in it. It's a hybrid spindle and really is a nice piece. If you want me to post up some pics let me know. Also note, that with the spindles the 1969 and 1970 cars have different size spindles. The 1970 spindles are thicker and you will require a different wilwood brake hub and inner as well as outer bearing for the 1969 brake kit from wilwood. I am not sure where you obtained your 69 wilwood brake kit from but trust me when I say it is easier to return the kit and purchase the one for the 1970 mustang. If you are going with the TCP spindles. Then again this is all relative, perhaps you don't intend to drive the vehicle very hard and these spindles are overkill. The link below is the page to the spindles, it looks like the price actually just increased recently. http://www.totalcontrolproducts.com/spindle.html
  12. I got my FPA headers last week, I haven't had a chance to do a mock up mounting, but they are definitely a nice piece. The man definitely knows what he is talking about as well. These things are really built specifically to your vehicle. I was skeptical at first and was looking at the hookers as well. I decided to pony up the extra coin and do FPA headers. No regrets thus far.
  13. Decided to go with all metal and then topping it with Rage Extreme. I'll post pics once completed.
