  1. Sorry to hear about the block issues, Android. As mentioned above, boring that much out of this block is risky. Even after you get it back in the car and running, I recommend you keep a lookout for a used block. If something happens to this one, you won't be able to bore it again, for sure.
  2. I'm in for driving the car in 2015. While I haven't been posting regular updates, I have made some progress but it slowed for over a year. I've recently decided to hold off on the paint, since that's what's taking so dang long, and get the car on the road.
  3. +1 If you decide to have a build thread on a different forum that's more specific to that car, please share the link with us!
  4. Nice work on that cart Ash. Looks good!
  5. Agreed. Thanks for the update, congrats on the progress!
  6. In a perfect world, you'd do both at the same time. My opinion - since you need to do them one at a time, if you do a gear swap to work with the C4, and later perform the 5 speed conversion, you'll likely end up doing another gear swap to better fit the 5 gear transmission. I'd do the trans conversion first, then do the gearing later.
  7. When I purchased my coupe, the PO had already done some metal work on the front aprons, and the export brace didn't want to bolt up. I used a hi-lift jack.
  8. Can't provide an opinion on the TCI Streetfighter shifter specifically, but I ran a B&M Megashifter on my previous 69 with a C4 (ironically, it was a TCI Streetfighter C4 trans though). Shifter install was simple and straightforward, similar to what Mike said. Bolt it down, run the cable, adjust to suit your needs, and done. Also ran a megashifter in my dirt track race car. Worked like a champ, and took a LOT of abuse.
  9. Similar to what some others have said above, my project stalled for a while due to changes in life (got divorced, started riding motorcycles, lack of fun-money). I've recently started back up on the stang and hope to achieve some progress over the holidays.
  10. I'm curious to see how this turns out. Keep us posted please.
  11. +1 http://www.toploaderheaven.com/default.html
  12. Lookin good man! I'm envious of the condition you got the car in.
  13. Just read the entire thread from the beginning. Nice build!
  14. Just read the entire thread from the beginning. Nice build!
  15. Thanks for the feedback guys. When comparing the pics, you'll notice the section of metal held on by the screw is missing on the other side. Its like an extension of the drip rail. Is that metal necessary for anything or can it be removed from the passenger side to match?
  16. I'm wondering if the extra metal piece on the passenger side is related to a vinyl top install. That may explain why the other side doesn't have it? If my car came with the vinyl top but the car the driver side quarter was replaced with didn't have one, then I'm not missing anything and can just remove that metal from the passenger side and move on. I did have to weld up holes on the passenger side from the original vinyl top.
  17. i replaced both quarters, but the replacement quarterskins for the coupe don't extend that high. PO cut up another car and grafted it onto this one.... poorly. Thanks for your help. If drilling a new hole is all i need, I'm a happy camper.
  18. Long story short: The driver's side experienced some poor hacking by a PO. After replacing most of the metal, I'm doing body work now in preparation for paint. As you can see from the pics, the rear curve behind the windows don't match. The passenger side (unmolested side) has a screw in it, but the driver side doesn't seem to have a place for a screw (seems to have been tacked together, as part of a previous repair). I don't have the original trim pieces to compare. How do the trim pieces in the lower corner of the rear side windows attach? I'm trying to determine what work needs to be done so that it'll be correct prior to paint. Any help is appreciated!
  19. There are production cars made today that have no lighting in the glove box. Why do you feel this would have been a requirement in 69?
  20. With that engine, I agree with Sportsroof. A Vic Jr. won't be a dog on the street. It'll still be fun to drive.
  21. Agreed. (and it's a product name, not a smartalic remark, lol)
  22. Be leary of the quality of the Maier trunk lid/end caps. Several of us have had severe fitment issues with them. I can't speak about any of their other fiberglass products though. Just my 0.02
  23. +1 Also, an incorrect base plate gasket that is sucking in outside air could not only cause a whistle or screech, but it could also cause a backfire through the carb. This is definitely worth a close look.
  24. What size are the tires on that Falcon? That thing looks wicked....
