SELLERSRODSHOP 13 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 looking good! i like the gray wheels with the red. i see too many red cars with polished torque thrust wheels. the painted gives a god contrast. what did you do to get it setting so low?

Arrowhead 10 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks everyone. I'm not sure how much the drop is, I know there's only a couple inches to the bumps stops though. I used Cougar 351 coils cut 3/4 of a coil and used upside down leafs in the rear. It's a little rough ride, but it's way better than my hot rod so I'm used to it. This is really a low budget rebuild, I have under $8K into it. I did all the work myself (engine, transmission, bodywork, paint, welding, interior) but I wanted to learn so it was the perfect project for me. I picked it up for $650 in September '06 and I probably worked on an actual 18 months. I didn't spend tons of money on high performance equipment, that wasn't the goal of the project. I know I'll get crap about the '05 mustang wheels and tires, but you know the deal $500 for all four with 50 miles on them. Fit the bill perfectly and I really like them on this car, they fit perfectly and I like the color. Only thing I regret is not going EFI and AOD. Man I hate carbs! I can see that a future upgrade though. I still have a bunch of little detail type things to do like clean the interior and touch up the paint in the engine compartment, but I figured it was time to share. Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Very nice, especially for a budget build. I like the way you painted the tail lights to match the rims, nice tie in. I would actually like to see the whole tail panel that color, I think a GT rocker stripe in that color might look cool too. The only other thing I would add is a chin spoiler with that low stance and it would really crank it up a notch.
Arrowhead 10 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 I also sandblasted and painted the side marker bezels the same color. I thought about stripes and was fully prepared to paint them, but I thought I'd get all put together to see what it looked like. Same thing with spoilers and scoops. I do have a ratty Mach scoop I can pretty up and paint, that might go on still. Otherwise I kind of like the clean look. I think I might raise the rear a tad. Even though the rockers sit level to the pavement, the body lines slope down toward the rear so maybe and inch up in the back might level out the appearence. Protowrxs 111 Report post Posted June 25, 2008 Very nice - I love to see a well done Coupe and it was fun watching this project from start to finish. Looks great man! Honestly I've never thought I was a fan of the late model wheels on a classic but yours have proven that thought wrong. -Stephen
