  1. Thanks for the reassurance guys. I not worried at all, it's a driver and I'll have fun with as long as I own it (brought it to work today actually). My wife is fickle that way, so I was not surprised or disapointed when she said I could sell it if I wanted to. I suppose if I spent a few thousand more dollars to add A/C, fuel injection (how many pumps to start when it's cold? hot? in between?) quieter mufflers, etc. she would become more accustomed to it. Most of the places she goes though, she doesn't feel comfotable taking it for fear of it getting damaged (works in a city, shops at the mall/box store, etc.) For that matter, she would probably be just as happy with an '05 with a V-6. Plus, she want some of the proceeds to go to a college fund. Hard to argue with that one.
  2. Thanks for the honest evaluation Pak. I pretty much agree with everything you said. If I wanted to build to flip and make money, I probably should have started off with a FB. But one in same condition as I found the coupe in would have been $2,000-$3,000. (I looked at a bunch) and the project would have never made it off the ground. Bedides that, the car was built for my wife and she didn't want a FB. Honestly, when I first went to look at it, I don't think I had ever seen a 70 coupe before. All in all, no regrets here. I know a lot guys look at classic cars as an investment and are very selective to maximize thier profit. Guess I'll never get rich off this hobby, but that's ok. As long as I can keep trying to build cool stuff, I'm happy. I'm hoping someone will look at this car and realize they can have cool car to drive for the price of a FB that's all worn out. Maybe someone will want for THIER wife.
  3. coz, Thanks for the heads up, I omitted the paragrah with all the generic specs - but only this ad, all my other ones have the info. reesse, it is on racingjnk too, but under classic. I guess I could try mustang. I'm in no hurry. As mentioned, this is about the worst possible time to sell a hobby car. I never looked at this car as an investment anyway, but I'm hoping to get a fair price though too. Thanks for the reality check!
  4. I'm sure some have seen my for sale ad posted on different sites and it's only been a week, but I've only had only one legit response. I know selling will be a long drawn out process with the difficult times we are in. http://www.1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?p=42011#post42011 But I'm wondering if my ad is putting people off. Am I listing too much infomation? Does the list of parts turn you off becuse it was in need of so much work? "Just another coupe" syndrome? (sorry coupe guys). Asking price too high? At this point i'd be happy with tire kickers or some spam mail (I'm sure it will come soon enough) Ha Ha Or maybe my giving out as much info as possible to weed out the dead wood is working. I have it on CL, racingjunk, 69stang, Hotrodders, VMF and a large local wantad Anything I could do to improve the ad? I'm not desperate and I'm in it for the long haul. Just looking for some tips or maybe how I could make it better. Thanks

  8. Looks great! Bet it's a blast to drive!
  9. Thought I'd give it a try. it's just mocked up right now and I still have to make up some mounting tabs. I'm not sure if I want to go polished or maybe even paint it black. I'm just using JB weld to glue the pieces together. cost about $70 for the aluminum strips.
  10. I'm in the middle of diagnosing a similar promblem. Mine seems to be boiling the gas. I think the engine is running too hot so I am taking steps to make it run cooler.
  11. I painted all my loose parts off the car. There are some advantages, but negatives also. With the hood and trunk hanging, the is much less dust that will settle in the paint. But, if you painted several cars you know, consistant application is key or you will have mismatched panels. That said, make sure you have enough room to walk around everything. Consider trying to prevent overspray from one panel to the next. Keep the parts at eye level as best you can. Use saw horses for the fenders, otherwise they will hang in an awkward position. Make sure you have enough room between parts so if they swing they don't hit anything. I've been know to double and triple hanging small parts to conserve space and to make it easier to paint.
  12. I also sandblasted and painted the side marker bezels the same color. I thought about stripes and was fully prepared to paint them, but I thought I'd get all put together to see what it looked like. Same thing with spoilers and scoops. I do have a ratty Mach scoop I can pretty up and paint, that might go on still. Otherwise I kind of like the clean look. I think I might raise the rear a tad. Even though the rockers sit level to the pavement, the body lines slope down toward the rear so maybe and inch up in the back might level out the appearence.
  13. Thanks everyone. I'm not sure how much the drop is, I know there's only a couple inches to the bumps stops though. I used Cougar 351 coils cut 3/4 of a coil and used upside down leafs in the rear. It's a little rough ride, but it's way better than my hot rod so I'm used to it. This is really a low budget rebuild, I have under $8K into it. I did all the work myself (engine, transmission, bodywork, paint, welding, interior) but I wanted to learn so it was the perfect project for me. I picked it up for $650 in September '06 and I probably worked on an actual 18 months. I didn't spend tons of money on high performance equipment, that wasn't the goal of the project. I know I'll get crap about the '05 mustang wheels and tires, but you know the deal $500 for all four with 50 miles on them. Fit the bill perfectly and I really like them on this car, they fit perfectly and I like the color. Only thing I regret is not going EFI and AOD. Man I hate carbs! I can see that a future upgrade though. I still have a bunch of little detail type things to do like clean the interior and touch up the paint in the engine compartment, but I figured it was time to share.
