Guillaume69 got a reaction from Bill Bailey in Need info on tires and stripe my car came with...
You are absolutely right, Aslanefe.
From what I gathered in my readings, this tape stripe was not exclusive to Grandes. Apparently, it could be ordered on other coupes as well as part of the sports appearance group.
I just couldn’t find a pic of a non Grande coupe with said tape stripe.
I also saw a bunch of Grandes without the stripe, or even a vinyl top. Seems like you could virtually order any combination of options on any model, back in the day.

Barnett,
It’s a Mach 1 stripe you are showing us here.
From what I understand, the sport appearance group tape stripe mentioned in some Marti Reports was different. The same as the one found on the 600 limited edition.
Actually, the stripe was not the same on Sportsroofs and coupes. The stripe was running higher and farther to the rear on coupes.
See pics below to get a better idea.

Guillaume69 got a reaction from JayEstes in Demons possess my '69 Mustang
I had the « engine still running with key in my pocket » freaky voodoo type stuff, a couple years ago.
Turned out it was a bad solenoid.
No high revs issue, though.

Guillaume69 got a reaction from Caseyrhe in Question for our Aussie friends
Here’s Christmas to us in France. Every year, everyone is hoping for a white Christmas. I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world.
It must be very weird down under. Like in Cape Town I guess.
Christmas in NW FL (a.k.a the Panhandle) is fairly brisk. North winds make for chilly nights, sometimes below zero Celsius (lower 30’s).

Guillaume69 got a reaction from Bob & Sue in Front End Squeak Intermittent
I have had this squeaking issue literally for decades now... Comes and goes. At one point, I thought it was affected by outside temperature, but then I get it in hot or cold weather. It depends.
I too completely restored my front end with quality parts (Moog), and I have my grease pump handy. But it keeps coming back...
I recently read that spring perches bushings can be the cause. And that roller bearing spring perches, in addition to improving overall handling, could be a fix to this squeaky mess.
So I pulled the trigger on these: http://www.virginiaclassicmustang.com/mobile/65-73-ROLLER-BEARING-SPRING-PERCHES-PAIR-P167809.aspx
I should receive them in a week or two. That'll be my next move in the squeaky department.

Retrosound without a single hesitation. I got the model 2 "Malibu" for my 69. Couldn't be happier: top notch technology with classic looks.

The typical post engine rebuild paranoia... It goes after a couple thousand miles without issues, it's only a matter of trust. LOL

That black urethane stuff is a freaking nightmare to work with. Three years later I still have bad dreams about it. My wife says I have PTSD...

Guillaume69 got a reaction from JayEstes in Need help regarding tires
And again, don't get me wrong, I've been using them for 12 years, so I like them too! They just don't grip well at all per today's standards.
On a side note, I too lived for a while (3 years +) on the Gulf Coast (Pensacola FL). And yes, it gets pretty hot in summer. It can rain pretty hard too. But when it does, there's way too much water on the roads to go drive a freshly restored Mustang. LOL

Guillaume69 reacted to JayEstes in Need help regarding tires
That's a good point from a different perspective. But I would add that I live on the freaking gulf coast of the united states, and so that "super hard" rubber down here gets a lot softer in the heat! Hell some of the tires on the market might just melt down here! LOL. I also don't drive for performance much. I like to spin the tires (they work for that!), and when I drive fast... i tend to try to keep it straight! Good feedback from a different point of view though.

Here is another proof that 69 Mustangs are the purest. This is just raw muscle car DNA...

Mmmm...
I have been using the Cooper Cobras on my 69 for the past 12 years now (235/60R15). Because as Barnett says, I want the "look". And I must say that I find this look one of the finest, when combined with my AR Torque Thrust wheels.
But when it comes to performance, I would say that these tires are some of the worst I've ever had on a car: they do not grip well at all. They feel like pieces of hard soap. First of all, the rubber is hard as steel. So hard they never wear out! When it's cold or on wet roads, it's like having plastic instead of rubber. Dangerous. On a track, it's a lot of fun, as you are constantly drifting and squealing, but you just can't take a corner properly. I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my 2013 Boss, and man, what a difference... Especially on wet surfaces. Price as well, LOL !!
IMO, those Coopers are fairly unexpensive and good looking tires. But that's all. BFs Radial TAs are very similar, just a hair pricier if I remember correctly.
I am patiently waiting for someone to design performance tires with white letters some day.

There is something weird about this car. Check the running horse QP medallions. Facing rearward. Aren't they supposed to run the other way? Towards the front of the car?
Or did I miss something?
