  2. there are plenty of kits but really at the end of the day it will be a lot of time and money to get it to feel like a new car. It all really depends on you budget and capabilities. TCP (Total Control Products)is the fromt end I'll be using on mine. It's bolt in. There are also kits that require fabrication such as removing the shock towers and welding in a new front setup. What's your budget and capabilities?
  3. Also, call west coast cougar. It's the exact same trim as a mustang and I bet the have it in stock or can point you in the right direction.
  4. You can remove the stainless Chanel's from old glass. eBay is a good place to look. It's glued on and is a snug fit but it does come off. There is also a good chance you'll need '70 regulators...I did when I did mine. There is a small offset in the regulator arm.
  5. I do know the original owner could have got the car without a top. This was possible with grandes. The car was painted at one time. Sounds like fun times lol. I'm ready though I think. This is my first go-round with body work. Here are a couple pictures of the trim. If you see the river holes, this is where the previous owner attached the trim that used to be on the car. The trim was basically just rolled up vinyl. Looks dumb. I've since found the correct trim and install the larger pieces and drilled the holes for the smaller ones. I've removed the smaller pieces so you could see the holes. This car lived in San Diego most of its life so there is little rust on. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. This fall when it cools off again I'm hope to do bodywork and paint, this summer will be rust repair on the doors, trunk floor and tail light panel. . When I do the top, I'll replace the windshield and remove the back lass for paint and to redo the headliner. So I'm basically planning to do all the roof related items this fall.
  6. The vinyl top on my car may not be original. There was aftermarket quarter trim on it and no factory trim holes. I'm planning to re-do my top at some point in the next year and also begin body work to paint. When I do, I need to prep and repainted. Anyone have experience doing that is willing to share your knowledge?
  7. Looking good! I've been researching radiator/electric fan combos recently. I know my car gets hot. Older 20" stock style radiator. At some point, I'll be installing either this or classic auto air. I have a spare AC lower dash that will get installed and the center dash vent. When I get a new dash pad, I'll install an AC dash. Then when I install the system, my plan is to use all factory vents. Based on what you did on yours, you think that would work well?

  10. oh and stay away from urethane strut rod bushings if you decide to go with them! just use rubber bushings. harder bushings will put stress on the strut rod and eventually it could snap. I know from first hand experience.
  11. I use a hammer, good smack on the side of the spindle and the ball joint pops out. Never used a pitman arm puller on any of my jobs. Plan to replace spring perches and strut rod bushings while your in there. should consider tie rod ends if you can. These also seriously effect the alignment. based on the squeeling and stance issues you were having, an alignment by someone who knows whats going on should fix your problem. good luck.....keep us posted.
  12. thats a greeat point actually! You could go you a place like break check or NTB (if you have them there) and have them give you an inspection and quote it out. At least that way you'd have a starting point.
  13. Telling you if you should do them yourself is a real hard question to answer. i dont know you, your skills, your shop, your tools or experiences..... Here's the deal. anyone can rebuild the suspension in reality....there is no special skills needed, no rocket sciance. Just some basic info and guideline you need to pay attention to. I did my brothers '67 when I was 15. is it easy? Well that depends on your skills, tools and work are etc. Here is an example of a decent starter kit that will give you what you need for a basic suspension job. https://www.mustangsplus.com/1967-1973-Mustang-Front-Suspension-Kit-Grab-A-Trak-R.html This kit will give you all new bushings to bring your car back you a slightly beefed up version of your original suspension. It's $350 bucks. it's completely bolt on and only requires a couple cheap or rent-able special tools. Internal spring compressor mostly. If you spend a weekend on this, it can be dont by yourself or with a buddy. I'm actually about to do another '67 in a couple weeks with a friend. after everything is bolted up, have it towed to an alignment shop. here, watch this video to give yourself an idea of what it takes. we are here to help you through this.   16. I'mout. I just realized this is the same week my work is sending me to the national NFPA conference in Las Vegas. That's ok though, I'm not really ready. I need to work on my cooling system and am planning to start a coil over front end suspension project. I'll just wait for the next one that starts close. I'll have to swing by VMF....its been a long time since i showed my face around there....pictures....we'll need pictures ;).

  18. Should be easy enough for them but Grande Stripes are a good thing. I have a NOS set but i dont think the adhesive would be any good. I was planning to get them reproduced by a graphics shop when the time comes.

Apparently the radiator 77 bought a US Radiators brand radiator from an e-bay distributor. I just took the e-bay sellers information and punched it into the US Radiators website and they came up. Searching the US radiator site and I found the correct radiator.(second link) Apparently there is a distributor in Brian/Collage Station which is a nice cruise in the mustang down the street.....sounds like a road trip. ;)

  22. Awesome! I want to know the impact on the cooling system once it heats up. This is on my list of to do's on my car. I already have an AC lower dash. Great job! Very good write up. How about a "lessons learned" post for those looking to take on a similar project?

  25. There is a 67 fastback here on Craigslist that is nearly rest free with what looks like original paint. It's a roller, lux interior and a 302 car, 4 speed manual. Nice car. They want 13k. There is also a 69 in the Dallas area as a comparison that's 18 fully ready for paint on a rotisserie. I'm telling you this because there are other options. Stay away from rust. If it's pretty bad, you'll spend 20k rebuilding it to do it right. I think you'd enjoy a 20k driver way way more than a rust bucket you spend 4 years and 20k getting on the road. You'd get to enjoy it while you work on it. Of course I'm not you and I don't know you setup, shop, fab skills and ultimate goal. Stock, track, driver, show...or? They all take a different kind of skill set and commitment. Good luck
