  1. My Stang is Sangria red metallic. The guy that painted my car said this is the color match for 2008 Mustang GT. It really pops out in the sun.
  2. I had the issue of the distibutor gear going to pieces. Flat tapped and cast gear. The problem i had was the location of the gear. Bottom of the gear to the location where the distibutor sits has a length to be set of 4.031" Min to 4.038" Max. This worked for me. My attachment is a Adobe file and it doesn't want to load. Rick
  3. Jay It is part of the ignition on a 70. As you turn the key on it ingages the ignition switch. When the pin came out the key turned off but the ignition was still on. I got lucky when i found this problem. The ignition is totally different on a 69. I hope this explained it. Rick
  4. On my 70 the pin that is in the picture came out and the car would not shut off. Rick
  5. The only gauges that work on my dash are the fuel and speedo. No i didn't notice any spiking of the gauges. I didn't drive it this way either. I heard that over charging was not good. Have you check the altenator out?
  6. Check your ground from battery to the engine block. My 351w was over charging at around 16 volts and i chased it down to too much paint on the block where the ground wire attaches. It doesn't cost anything to check this out. Rick
  7. I have the saginaw pump and mine doesn't return to center. I'm hoping that someone has solved this issue.
  8. I didn't have a socket to fit so I used a great big pipe wrench.
  9. Danno, I had a custom Taurus Rack on my car. Steering was great and tracked very well even without the alignment. But turning radius was really bad. I was going to do an aftermarket R&P kit then found the borgeson setup and went with it. I was able to drive the car today without the cut out problem(Distributor issues). (Installed a new distributor). Seamed to handle very well. I am pleased with the outcome so far. Just need to put some more miles on it to know for sure. Rick
  10. Ricks 70 Stang, do you think it would have been any easier fitting the lines to the box before bolting the box in? Rod. Rod, The crows foot worked pretty well. At first I used a wrench that i cut off, but couldn't get them tight enought. Crows foot with an extention worked ok. Home made crows foot at that. I took a wrench and cut the end off and welded it to a 3/8 drive socket. The biggest pain was the return line on the saginaw pump. The reinforced hose is tough to get on. I had to put it on the pump off the car then install the pump and then the hose to the box. Rick
  11. The box is a direct bolt in. You will use 11/16 36 spline half rag joint(supplied with the kit). The steering column will colaspe. I had previously modified the colaspable part of my steering column so I had to remove column and cut about 1/2 inch off the end. You might want to try without cutting. I used the Borgeson pump also. The lines are a pain. I used a crows foot and a long ext. to tighten the fittings to the box.(power brake booster in the way). The reniforced hose for a return line is a pain to get on the pump. I put in on the pump before install. Hope this helps Rick
  12. I was able to drive the stang today. steering was great. Love the stock steering radius. I couldn't drive very far because I have an issue of a miss at about 3000rpm. I thought that it might be the altenator but no luck. I have a mild 351w with a new summit 750 carb. It has a old duraspark dizzy. I'm thinking that this may be the problem. I have ordered new wires and a new dizzy. Hopefully this will solve my problem. I purchased my steering parts thru CJ pony parts when they had a sale. So far so good on the steering. Rick
  13. I got my stang back from alignment shop on tuesday and drove it home 30 miles. Steering seemed to be very good tracked very well. It is not like my Honda Civic but not too bad. Much better than manual steering better turning radius than the Taurus Rack. Been so long since the factory power steering that i'm not sure about that. No leaks and that a big plus. The altenator went out and the car was running off the battery and running very crappy. So I didn't enjoy it very much. I should be able to cruise it around this weekend and see how it goes. Rick
  14. Rod, I will see about getting some pics of the complete set up. I did back it out of the shop and turn it around. turned real easy. i drove it on the road in front of my house but the front end alignment is out and it wouldn't return to center very good. I also had to trim my column back about 1/2 inch to clear the rag joint. my steering shaft was modified to mount a taurus rack that didn't work out very well. Turning radius was horrible. Stock steering shaft maybe ok. Rick
  15. I've heard good stuff about the borgeson set up. I purchased the set up with a borgeson pump. I have it installed but haven't driven it as of yet. Waiting on frontend alignment. I have a 351w and I put hedman elite headers on the car. They were very close to the steering box so I shimmed the drivers side motor mount about 3/16 for clearance. The hoses are a pain in the hind end. The reinforced return line was a pain to get on the pump. The fittings going into the box I used a socket with a long extention. The hoses to the fittings I used a crows foot to tighten. Just not much room under the power brake booster. I have a c4 automatic. Not sure on the fit for a standard transmission. Hopefully going to get the alignment on Monday. I'll know more after that. Rick
  16. From what I have seen the 69 has it on the door window and the 70 has it on the quarter window.
  17. I am in need of the lower chrome windshield moulding and the back window lower moulding clips. What is the condition? Rick
  18. I put Distinctive covers on my seats. They were a tight fit. I pulled some of threads on my seat bottom trying to get to fit. Probably needed to let them heat up and stretch more. I had an upholstery guy finish them. They look good. I purchased them from Mustangs Unlimited. I posted a pic of my seats in the car.
  19. I have a few pic's of my 70 coupe in the Gallery. Ricks 70 stang
  20. I'm not sure what it is called. On the steering column at the engine compartment there is a arm that swingsback and forth. Supposed to be hooked to the transmission I believe. You might try to move it and see if that allows you to turn key off. I had this problem and it worked for me. Just a suggestion. Rick
  21. The triangle black plastic vent that goes below the quarter window. Below the door latch. This is on a 1970 coupe. I messed mine up and need to replace them. I haven't seen them in any catalogs. Thanks for any information that you can give. Sorry I don;t have any pics at this time. Thanks Rick
