LiLMike 42 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 I have no idea but I would be curious as to what everybody does for a spare in these tiny trunks. I was thinking about not carrying one for local events.
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 I carry a full sized spare. I also haven't travelled very far with the car, so luggage space hasn't been an issue. Chuck
70mstang 11 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 Put a spare in my beautiful trunk? nope .. got Hagerty to pull me off the side of the road and take me to a tire shop if I get a flat and I drive all over the place!
LiLMike 42 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 That's what I was thinking 70Mstang. I have Hagerty also. Perhaps on a long trip I may but never local stuff...Rule of thumb: If I need luggage then I need a spare...LOL
dennyb68 11 Report post Posted August 21, 2013 I have a space saver in mine and of course I will never use it. Hello Flat Bed take me home...
Midlife 814 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Yes, I carry a spare tire, but it is located just above my belt. ;-(
harlan69mach 21 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 I carry a full sized spare same as we did when it was the family car. Used to pack up the wife, the three year old and the cat for a weekend at the grandparents. You would be surprised how much you can pack in a Mach 1. Flanders 46 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 I always figure it's easier to do a 15 minute roadside tire-change rather than wait for a flatbed. My trunk is minty fresh, and still has enough room for whatever I need for my trip (usually cleaning supplies, cooler and a chair for car shows :) )
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 When I made the choice to go with staggered size 17" wheels I picked up an unused donut spare from 90's mustang to go with them, better to have and not need. Depending on the situation I may still opt to call Hagerty as well instead but I have been stranded in spots with no cell coverage or a dead phone before as well so I keep a full oh shit bag in my car at all times now with all kinds of just in case stuff that I hope I never need. Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 I carry the spare and jack and they are stored right where they are supposed to be. Road side assistance is just fine, I have AAA, but the person sent to assist you may not have the same respect for your car that you do. Brian
Max Power 74 Report post Posted August 22, 2013 I am not willing to carry a safe jack and will not use any of the dicey factory jacks, so my spare is in the form of a AAA card.
fredfordguy 16 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Always carry a full size spare and a rugged jack, beside the road is the most dangerous place to stop, try to avoid it....Nice thread
lseann 10 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 I run late model 17" rims. Got a 17" spare from the same car to go with them and it doesn't take up much room at all.
Mike65 475 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 I am going to be using the 14" rims from a 68 GT & I also acquired another GT rim to use as a spare.
69RavenConv 286 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 Ha, I deleted my original post because I thought it was a dumb question. I was wrong, it turned into an interesting thread. Personally, I'm torn between getting a 14" steelie (because I love the stock look) and finding another orphaned Ansen Sprint and running 5 matched wheels...
