  1. OK you know your iron heads, even reworked are going to be a big choke point in a stroker. I have nothing against the old C90E castings, mine were reworked by one of the best places on the west coast and I use em on my 69 351w, and they make decent power. But I would not use them on a stroker. IMHO.
  2. Can't wait to see one on the car, and your asking price is a great deal. Keep up the good work.
  3. Here is another .060 head gasket option if you need to go that route. A lot cheaper too. http://m.summitracing.com/parts/sce-536086
  4. Hey Barnett468 check your pm's lol
  5. If it's acting up with both cables it's probably the speedo
  6. Yep was editing my post above, you can also use a long screwdriver to listen for the noise, place the blade on different spots across the valve cover and put your ear on the end of the handle. If you find the noise on one side you'll have to pull the cover and go from there. Do you have any experience working on engines? NOT MY DARN PIC!
  7. OK, so it's an engine that came with the car and used, and probably no idea how many actual miles on it. Like Barnett468 stated it's most likely NOT spark knock. Edit, sorry got pulled away. So if you don't find an exhaust leak, start by listening on top of the engine, see if you can determine what side it's coming from to help narrow it down. May be something in your valvetrain.
  8. I assumed when you said you built it from the ground up that you built the engine also. If you had the engine built for you find out from the builder what the compression ratio was, and what cam was used, including manufacturer and part #.
  9. What's your static compression ratio? No idea where the pic came from.
  10. Thanks Maxpower, thought it was only the M code Windsor, I stand corrected.
  11. OK that's a start, still need more info on your ignition system, distributor, electronic or points, and what coil. If electronic are you using the "stock" wire to feed the coil? If yes you are not getting all the available spark energy to your plugs which could be why you are having problems. If you're unsure check the voltage at the + side of the coil. Let us know what you have and what voltage you got. Randy.
  12. And Friday=can't wait to prep for the hangover on Monday, I have a Friday car 😕
  13. Yes where modern cars have it, looking through the windshield on the drivers side, and at least on mine the fender would have to come off for sure. Those are not my pics...
  14. Maybe at some point it was registered as a 6cyl for insurance reasons? Would make sense. The Vin that Dave pointed out is on the passenger side, where the fender mounts, where the shock is. Yes the fender would most likely have to be removed.
  15. No worries, I was the one who misspoke, I just pulled my fenders last week and never saw it. After my post I went to the garage and hit it with a wire brush, and guess what I found...lol. Mine is a San Jose car so most probably all have it. I'm always glad to learn something new. Thank you Dave.
  16. As I said in my last post, you are correct Dave. As far as determining the difference between the rear here is a link. http://www.maliburacing.com/ford_9_inch/ford_nine_inch.htm
  17. Dave I will correct myself again you are correct, the Vin was also stamped on the shock tower, pass side. My bad lol
  18. You are correct Dave, an inline 6 would have been correct in 69'. As far as the Vin being stamped on the apron, Ford relocated it to the dash in 69, it wasn't stamped on the apron, however, they did place a tag, either on the passenger side near the hood hinge, or on the radiator support near the battery. Most of these get lost over the years.
  19. 1st thing I would do is verify the Vin on the door tag matches with the Vin up on the dash area. If they match I am stumped as to why the registration says it's a 6cyl car. As far as the rear end change the 6s and the reg 302 along with the 351w 2v came with an 8" rear. The Boss cars, 351w 4v,and the big blocks came with 9" rears. It's possible when the v8 was put in the owner wanted a 9". But the rear will have to be visually checked to see what it is for sure.
  20. Hello Tom, are we talking about a totally stock 69 302? Are you running a points style distributor? Has it been converted to electronic? If so are you still using the stock resistor wire to power the coil?
  21. Thanks 69RavenConv, good to know, as I am most definitely financially challenged atm lol.
  22. Excellent indeed, has anyone used the starter from db electric? Price is way cheaper than a rebuilt from Azone, just curious about quality.
  23. I saw the Shelby and thought it looked awesome with the blue stripe. It had me thinking..... Custom blue Mach1 stripe? Hmmm
