  1. also....does anyone have experience working with the new rust preventative solutions like Eastwood's products? Not that the car will ever be in the salt , I would like to treat the bottoms of the doors to prevent the surface rust that ate away at the folded edge of the door skin (bottom). I talked to a guy at Eastwood and he said to make a trough and soak the door bottom for 2 days in this solution they have and then add another one of their coatings.
  2. I'm wondering if it is possible to add some sort of door beam like the repo's have in order to make it stiffer.
  3. I just got a couple of doors from the california desert and I'm not a body panel expert...yet. The outer skin of these original doors seems to have a bit of flex in them (mostly in the middle). is this just metal fatigue? My current doors have some flex but not as much as these. Has anyone ever heard of tack welding a support on the inside of the door skin to stiffen the area up? thx!
  4. It was $176.00 for the clock pod (chrome and detail paint). I think it is $25 or $30 cheaper without the paint detailing. I personally think it wouldn't be worth the hassle for $25. It is $231 for the gauge pod. They also clearcoat the chrome and use a better chrome than original.
  5. This place: http://www.gcartrim.com/Mustang.htm#69,70'>http://www.gcartrim.com/Mustang.htm#69,70 Mustang is offering a 10% discount if we get at least 10 people to commit.
  6. I do have the complete setup and I am going from drum to disc. So would the proportioning valve form a 69 be the same as 70?
  7. Hmmm.....I wonder if there is a way to inquire and get a bulk rate price for the members here? Is there a way to setup a poll on the site for something like that?
  8. Hi, Has anyone had any luck finding new chromed clock clusters? I see they have chromed instrument clusters but no sign of the clock side. Thanks, D.
  9. Hi, Does anyone know the differences (if any) between the 69 and 70 factory disc break setups? I have a clean set of 70 spindels, dust shields and calipers. Will the 70 parts bolt right in to the stock 69 frontend? Thanks, D.
  10. Hi, Does anyone know if there are different size spotwelds on the 69? Specifically are all body panels the same size weld? I'm going to hang a rear quarter and possibly floorpan and I'm looking for the size cutter to buy. Also, is Rotabraoch the best cutter to go with? It seems like it to me, but then again I've never done this part before. Thanks, D.

  14. while on the tire/wheel subject.....does anyone know if 16x7 magnum 500's would offer any handling advantages over 15"? I would love to improve handling on the big block car. Thanks
  15. I had similar problems with my CJ. A combination of two things were discovered. 1. The fuel line from the pump to carb had an inline glass bulb fuel filter. The car ran fine with it before the rebuild but after, it caused stalling problems. Removed the inline filter solved the problem. Even though I removed the filter it was still causing vapor lock. 2. The second performance issue occurred from a fuel pump issue. I finally tore it down to find the diaphram had dry rotted along one part of the outer edge. Hope this helps
  16. Not the same info. The research here is to determine when, where and how long the different types of VIN tags were used. There is a possibility that ford periodically switched between the different tags styles for a period of time.
  17. Good to know as I'm about to spend thousands on all new trim and interior parts. Keep us posted.
  18. Not sure if you noticed ......Black Jade has a car built the same day at the same plant!!!
  19. Curious...Is this going to be just a clone of the exterior? If so, what are you going to put in for the drive train?
  20. hmm....one of the things my friend is trying to do is determine is if there was any rhyme or reason to the different style tags. The theory was that the reverse stamped tags occurred sometime after June '69. My tag is the left....3/28/69...Metuchen. BTW....The info gathered here is supposed to be published at some point.
  21. Hi Jim, Do you think this stuff could be textured before it fully cures. Thinking this might be the stuff to use for rebuilding a center console(blending and filling holes and cracks). Thanks
  22. Hi, Doing some research for someone putting info together related to Ford and Mustang history. I DO NOT want anybody's VIN number for this!!! All I ask is that you look at the split picture of the VIN tags. The one on the left is an IMPRINTED tag, the one on the right is REVERSE STAMPED. Please indicate if your tag matches the left or the right side of the picture, your vehicle build date or date code from your door tag and the ford plant your car was built at(2nd digit of your VIN). Thanks for your help. :hammer:
  23. If you give your VIN number to Marti Reports ,they give you all the door tag codes pertaining your specific car in the report. They are also the best place to get the door tag too (as far as I know) with correct rivets.
  24. Hi All, Sorry about the delay...was out winter camping this past weekend. I am keeping track of all request and will be getting back to you all after I make the trip out to storage.
