wow this guy needs his own 'restoration on a budget' thread

its pretty rough. floors are probably gone. if it has a drivetrain, 3-4k tops assuming its really rusty, if its solid, add 100%

Will 72 Ford Torino disk brakes work on a 69 Mustang?
ramair351 replied to puzzledeagle's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
sorry no. 68-71 torino only -
I'll buy it if you dont want it
-
hope you got and used them, but was still hoping to recoup the freight from you
-
scj's have that extra weight
-
i used the gil younger kit in my FMX, they work very well. tranny shops sell them.
-
it will be between the balancer and the timing cover, on the snout of the crank
-
to externally tell if a 428 is a cj or scj. you need to look behind the crank pully and dampner, for the extra weighted eccentric on the snout of the crank. scj's have to have this due to the extra weight of the lemans rods. you can see the weight without taking anything apart, but you may have to crawl under the car to spot it. this is the difference between a 5k used motor and a 10k used motor.

biggest thing is the big block cars had the wraparound sheet metal done to the shock towers that the smaller engine cars did not have. i have seen small block cars crack there just from abuse. so that being said. a 428 scj drivetrain is 8-10k, and a 69 fastback body only is 8-10k... you could always sell the big block, throw in a small block and have nice a cheap fastback

thanks. i am not sure if i will run a bar after all. i have to get some lowering blocks for the rear end, and i may just take the plates off for now. -
i may have a used one, i have lots of torino parts, may be the same... I will look
-
i am lookin for the round trim, shaped like a tube, that is plastic. the little metal slide retainer holds it together
-
assuming manual trans flywheel?
-
i dont believe there are any difference, between years or body styles
-
does anyone repop or have a nice used plastic shroud for around the column on a 70?
-
thanks for the picture! that will help when i set mine up.
-
CJtm, my tires are 245/50/17. which are fine for stock ride height, but i do plan to lower it an inch or so. then i will run the 245/45 in the front, and maybe 275/40 in the rear
-
wow i didnt know that existed! what a great idea. thanks for the post
-
i was looking for a nice leather one with the rectangular hole for the hurst shifter, instead of a round hole. i havent found anything yet
-
these are 17x8 rims, i dont think you can go any wider in the front without some work
-

here is a pic of the other side.. so this car originally had a rear mounted sway bar on it? why would they take it off? will an aftermarket rear mount one fit right on?
