  1. Powerblock on SpikeTV actually did an episode where they converted a 67 coupe to a fastback, but the older Mustangs are different and nothing like the 69-70 structure. http://www.powernationtv.com/episode/DM2014-12/plain-pony-to-fastback More pics would be great thanks. I'll keep in touch, right now I don't even have all the tools yet so I'm gonna go shopping this weekend first. Orchard Supply has a no sales tax event this Sat and Sun.
  2. That's beautiful, 70fastbak! Thanks so much for the pics! I'll definitely give your method a shot, any more pics and advice you can provide?
  3. I finally found a cheap 1969 Mustang Fastback on Craigslist for only $2000. Catch was, it was in awful shape. The floor and frame rails are rotted completely, the front end has too much damage as well. But I still want to salvage the back half to do a coupe to fastback conversion kit for another 1969 Mustang coupe that I already have as well. It's in solid shape with no rust. What would be the best way to convert the coupe to a fastback? http://s28.postimg.org/gm4o7gf1p/DSCF9695.jpg Could I just cut through the A pillars and then weld it to the coupe since this is the easiest method? http://s28.postimg.org/j0wjrvval/DSCF4542.jpg Or would it be best to keep the whole door frame assembly intact, pry it out of the rusted shell and then weld it into the coupe frame? http://s28.postimg.org/gkuqe1d7x/DSCF4543.jpg
  4. I am very interested in converting a 1969 Mustang coupe to a fastback using this kit here, but there is very little info out there on how to actually do it and what should be cut away from the coupe. All I've really found is this Hotrod magazine article on a conversion which has some good pictures but not much detail. Are there any instructions out there on what to do, and what to cut out exactly on the coupe? I'd like to get started before the kit arrives when I order it.
  5. There's a 70 Maverick at a nearby Picknpull right now and I'd like to get some parts for it for my 69. What parts from it will work on the Mustang as well? All I know is the windshield and brake parts.
  6. Will this modification work for a 69 Mustang? It's a 80s GM Rack and Pinion modified to fit for 60s Ford http://web.archive.org/web/20021228124420/http://home.pacbell.net/ssixto/automotive/R&P/HowTo.html http://web.archive.org/web/20030219101039/http://home.pacbell.net/ssixto/automotive/R&P/R&P.html The thumbnails for the pictures work, but you have to click on them.
  7. I know it sounds ridiculous, but has it ever been done before? Would it be as simple as swap as the 5.0L swaps into a 1969 Mustang chassis?
  8. I need a driveshaft to go on a C4 auto transmission for a 1969 mustang with a 351 V8 as my project car unfortunately didn't come with one. Craigslist hasn't turned up with anything so I'm hoping Picknpull will have some cars that I could pull one off since it'll only be $40. Are there any cars here that I could possibly use the driveshaft from? These are all the Fords made from the 60s and 70s in my local area. http://row52.com/Search?Page=1&MakeId=132&ModelId=0&Year=1960-1979&SortDirection=asc&Distance=100&ZipCode=95348&Sort=Year&HasImage=&HasComment=&locationId=
  9. I came across something interesting on youtube just now, . Would he be actually getting more fuel efficiency doing that? Or would the engine's larger volume still suck up the same amount of gas regardless of the size of the carb?
  10. I can't find any Ford Granadas for the disc brake swap but I found a 1972 Ford Torino at the local picknpull. Will the spindles bolt right on for a 69 Mustang?
  11. Thanks for the info, the seller for the manual transmission also has the linkage and shifter, and I will check it out tomorrow. I have a question about the clutch pedal though - could I somehow modify the clutch pedal of a later gen Mustang and use it on the 69? The local Picknpull junkyards have a lot of 80s and 90s Mustangs and I can get a clutch pedal there for only $25, could they work with a bit of modification?
  12. I have a 69 mustang that currently has a inline 6 engine with automatic transmission. However I found another inline 6 engine frm a 67 mustang in better shape than mine with the original 3 speed manual transmission. Would it be a simple swap and the motor and transmission mounts would match perfectly? Is a clutch pedal and a tachometer gauge the only thing I need now?
  13. Thanks guys, I finally got the car running but I still have no clue where most of the vacuum lines go. Not to mention what engine it even is in the first place. Here's more pics of the engine and the markings on it. Google'ing "D4DE-9C485" says that it's the engine for a 1974 Ford Maverick instead. Is this true, could it actually be a Maverick engine?
  14. Thanks but none of them seem to match up with my car. The distributor vacuum control valve on mine only has two ports(3,4)
  15. Hey guys, I just recently got myself a 69 Mustang with a 302 v8, the wiring was a mess but I finally got that figured out and it now has spark. However the vacuum hoses are a mystery to me as they're all missing, and the service manual I ordered hasn't arrived yet. What goes to where, can anyone point out what to connect here? Thanks in advance.
