  1. When you used the seam sealer mate, was that while you were spraying undercoat ?
  2. The photos are a bit fuzzy but if you have a look at Opentrackers reinforcing kit you will see the two plates iam talking about mate. In regards to the body filler most of it will be sanding out, the etch primer high filler couldn't completely fill in the welds. And the last photo shows where I had a gap from the factory shock towers, so I welded these up to. I hope this helps mate.
  3. Ive had a look at your build thread well done mate, in regards to your reinforcing kit the thickness of your plates shouldn't be a problem. I bought my kit from Opentracker, when I was searching the web I also found people had reinforced the outer shock tower to. Here are some photos of my shock tower, One thing I notice with your kit you don't have a plate that runs up the face of the shock ( where the UCA bolts to). The photos above show what I called the dog leg shape plate that is welded to the face of the shock tower.
  4. Mate about 3mm thick the wrap arounds where.
  5. Yeah Sven, its not easy restoring cars with family, work and the rest of it.
  6. 70Fastbak, no mate I bought them from open tracker along with my UCA, LCA and the tie rod ends. Sven yes its Dynacorn along with trunk floor brace that goes under the tail panel. The trunk floor brace was one made from heavy gauge steel, the tail light panel was very easy to make fit. The trunk floor brace took a bit more work to fit. I just spoke to global west suspension and my Monte Carlo bar and the solid rear shackle kit gets shipped Tuesday. Also ive been in touch with Mike Maier about his power steering setup he sells, his blue 66 coupe runs a power steering box not rack and pinnon. While I didn't get to speak to Mike his worker went on to say, why Mike stayed with the steering box is because the rack and pinnon sits at a bad angle. So once Mike gets back from the 50th mustang celebrations in Las vegas, I will find out more.
  7. Hopefully have it welded up torromow The photo above show what the colour of the car will be.
  8. Long time since update, anyway ive finished welding in my shock tower reinforcing kit and I gave it a coat of etch primer. I also had my S/S tank modified for an internal fuel pump fitted (rated to 800hp), my full wiring harness from American auto wire has arrived and iam very happy with the quality of workmanship. Also ive order a straight monte carlo bar and a Del A Lum bushing and shackle kit from Global wet suspension. Hopefully I can get a chance to start repairing/ welding the rear end this weekend, anyway here are some pictures. Rgs Jason
  9. Shaun I bought a set of headers from FPA( ford power train applications) for my Cleveland, not cheap but worth the money. They have website and they ask plenty of questions about your car and what your running.
  10. Your stang looks great, well done mate.
  11. I went with open tracker roller upper and lower control arm, roller spring perch. I also lowered the UCA 1 inch along with a shock tower reinforcing kit, I am also going to add a Monte Carlo bar from global west suspension. I went this way with my suspension setup, because it will be driven a few times through the week and when I travel interstate for car shows. My advice is do a lot of reading/ research into suspension setup for your car.
  12. Nice build, what a weapon it will be.
  13. Unbelievable, thanks for the link.
  14. Good to hear mate, when I was looking at AAW there accessories was what I liked. You can make your mustang into a new car with all there accessories.
  15. Yeah your right there mate qld transport don't miss you, I remember getting a quote for getting car registered I nearly had a heart attack when they told me the price. I just dropped off my fuel tank, fuel pump and stainless sheet so I can have in-tank pump, hopefully have that in a couple of weeks. I am getting a price from American auto wire for new harness, so hopefully I can order that soon.
  16. That's not a bad brake setup you have got for your mustang mate, I think my whole brake kit with slotted and drill rotors, braided brake lines front less master cylinder was $1350. My dad runs Repo Kelsey hayes 4 piston calipers with standard disc in his 66, it stops ok for non-power assited. It will be interesting to see how my braking compares to his fastback, hopefully I plan on driving mine a few times a week. Then when I can afford a full resto on the body I might put it on club rego, but for now iam just going to repair the rust and get it on the road by xmas fingers crossed.
  17. Thanks Bob, it took me a while to find a parts guy here in oz for the resto. But like you said Govt regulations on older vehicles is a nightmare, and now there just starting on a new law called VSB-14. Which means national vehicle standards in regards to power to weight, and many other crappy laws.
  18. Yeah its a pain, with the brakes mate I am just using stock drum spindles with reproduction kesley Haynes 4 piston and a brake booster. There is a company in calapaba that offers a big 4 piston brake kit for mustangs using a xf front spindles, I think the kit goes for $2000 mate. There is also a company called cruzing classic ( I think that's what there called) that offer brembo brake kit, but I don't know what they charge for there kit mate. When I build my motor I want, I going to upgrade to one of these big brake kits.
