    Making some good progress, Paul!

I drove in the left lane twice in the US without realising what I was doing. Driving head on into on coming traffic. I didn't think I was doing anything wrong until the last second. 4 days of flights travel with next no sleep does that though.
I have 3 LHD cars, after a week it becomes second nature driving around here in Aus. Look like a fool though to get in at the servo when you go to the wrong side of the car and there is no steering wheel in front of you. I do that all the time getting into my RHD cars now.
The weirdest sensation of all is changing gears with the opposite hand. That feels all back to front more to me than the seating position.

A huge congrats to you, mate. Well done!! You've achieved more than a lot of us have in a much shorter time. Now get out and drive it, it's a beautiful day!

Here's the kit that Mark used. It says they offer international post. They use a Walbro pump so can easily be upgraded or replaced.

    Thanks, Mark!
They are pretty simply done compared to the stangs. Everything is so much bigger and easier to work on the engine. I'd love to follow your progress on it if you post it anywhere. Please give us the heads up if you do.
Are you going to do any chassis mods while you are at it, like boxing it or anything? I'm amazed at how flimsy mine is, even with the additions that I've made.  And it is a newer '81 model chassis.

Congrats, Mark. You did an amazing job. I'm very impressed with the quality you produced.
And I'm loving the next project. What plans do you have for it?

If you don't have an engineers certificate for every modification, you won't pass for registration. No registration on a vehicle means no use on public roads. The police now have number plate scanning devices on their vehicles too that scan while they are driving and alert them to registration status on passing vehicles. The fines and penalties for using an unregistered vehicle on public roads are more than the registration costs. So not worth it.
As I mentioned, each year our vehicles in NSW need to pass an inspection to be cleared for the following years registration. If the inspector, most mechanical shops, is inspecting a non-original car and questions the modifications, you need to provide the engineers certificate to prove those modifications are certified and legal. The same if you were pulled over by the police and they questioned you over modifications, you need to carry the engineers certificate to prove it. This is where the police persons knowledge and attitude can become a huge grey area. They have the right to fine or take the vehicle off the road but there are so many stories of misinformed police officers not knowing the rules but using their status to do so. I've been on the receiving end of both positive and negative too. Nothing against the police, just some people in general are a-holes.
Other states are different. Some are like us that require yearly inspections, some only require them when a vehicle changes ownership. But in those states, the modification rules still apply. If you were pulled over and the police detect uncertified modifications, they take the vehicle off the road until it is rectified. Which either means change the modification what ever it may be back to factory standard and have the vehicle inspected and cleared. Or have the modification engineer certificated.
Now, more grey areas. Each engineer and registration inspector also has their own interpretation of the rules. It's a matter of finding and using one that you get along with or are both on the same page, that makes it much easier.

Haha, I wish. I'm only 35, still a long way to go before I get to that point.
It's not as much time as you think. Yes it has taken a lot of work but I've just been doing it here and there. I've also had the planning of this going through my mind for I think 2 years now. I have been doing this most afternoons instead of grabbing a cold beer. I'm amazed at how much I have been able to do instead of drinking a drop. That and a couple of other reasons is why I put the 69 aside and jumped into this project. I knew I'd see a lot of progress quickly and I needed that. The 69 wasn't giving me that kind of satisfaction.

I just stumbled upon this on an RMS page:
    Left-hand drive vehicles
Left-hand drive historic cars, trucks and buses that have a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) up to 4.5 tonnes are not required to display a 'left-hand drive' sign.
Where the GVM is greater than 4.5 tonnes, these vehicles require the words ‘left-hand drive’ to be displayed on the rear of the vehicle in letters at least 75 millimetres high, with a colour contrast background.

Ha, that's funny. My wife gives me a look of confusion. I was trying to explain the jig to her, she listened but must have thought I was from a different planet.

    Terrific stuff, Mal!
It would have been a great shake down for her.
None of my LHD cars have said anything as such on the rego papers either.

    Thanks, Mal. I appreciate it.
There's no body work going into the truck other than fitting it to the chassis and decking it out. It'll be left just as it is, original, rusty and worn out looking. I'm even hoping I can leave all the rust holes in the fenders.

That's sounding like it then. The wire itself is the resister.
This is the hurdle when swapping to a later ignition that requires 12v, it wont work using the original wire. You need to run a direct 12v instead.

    Happy fathers day guys
That's a pretty nice hint more fishing is on the cards for you, Mal. hehe. Getting closer to that time of year again though. Once the wind dies down I'll be back at it myself.
Did everything int he window mech manage to straight back out for you, Mac? Gees that is frustrating but I hope the internals aren't too effected. Not going to be fun chasing replacements of those if need be.

It was a great trip, guys. And we met quite a few people from all over the world. Some French, Scottish, Italian and lots Asian tourists. It was Japanese Cultural Exchange week at one point while we were there so there were many thousands of Japanese there for that. Ran into a few Aussies. But the biggest feedback we got from most people we spoke to was that they were unimpressed with the North area. We were very central in Hoi An but I'd have to say it was quite south Vietnamese dominated. There was nothing rude or pushy about them at all.
My wife had been there before, twice, and this was her favourite area which is why we chose there. It had changed a lot though she said since she was there about 12 years ago. And now there is a lot of large resort development along the coastline. Not my kind of thing but obviously it appeals to many others as there were a lot of them all neighbouring each other for miles on end.
Because we were there for a the time that we were, which seems to be quite odd to the locals as most come and go within days, we got to know the motel staff quite well. We were invited to one of their birthday dinners. It turned out to be a fantastic night. Finally we got proper Vietnamese food. When you walk into anywhere, they give you the westerners menu. Which does help with the communication but the food offered isn't the same as to what the locals are eating when you look around. It was such a fun night, so much food and so many beers. My kids however weren't keen to try the frog. I was hesitant at first but they were delicious. As were the snails and even my daughter got stuck into those.
Now this daily grind thing kind of sucks. I had to make my own breakfast this morning and it sucked too. Not impressed at all to be home...haha!

I think I'm heading towards the 7th year of my ownership. It's been an on and off thing, mostly off. I've only purchased parts when I have had money to do so and that doesn't happen too often.
Here I am in Louisiana getting into in for the first time along with the previous owner. It's the only time I have ventured out on the road in it.
Thanks, Mal. I actually feel like the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to appear.
