  1. If you haven't already got the seals, do yourself a favour and get a really fresh set. I had a set that had been on my shelf for a while and they were impossible to fit and tore them to pieces trying. I got another set and they went straight in.
  2. It's a pan off, rear main cap out process.
  3. A huge congrats to you, mate. Well done!! You've achieved more than a lot of us have in a much shorter time. Now get out and drive it, it's a beautiful day!
  4. Great to see it is just about done. Great work!
  5. I'm with Ridge here, modern drive line it. You can easily add a blower down the track too...hehe
  6. OH yes yes yes!! Awesome! What are you plans with the build? And how many houses can you carry with those rear springs? haha
  7. Good to see it back in one piece again.
  8. Any space in the glove box to place it?
  9. Here's the kit that Mark used. It says they offer international post. They use a Walbro pump so can easily be upgraded or replaced. https://www.efihardware.com/products/c471/Fuel-Tank-Conversion-Kits
  10. Is it a full respray? Or just the rear and a blend?
  11. I'm going to go for a back like this. I'll make it myself. I want to be able to fit my motorbike on it. After measuring it yesterday, a 2m tray will fit well, have a good amount of overhang and be able to carry two bikes fitting front to back. I love reading build threads too. Thanks for the link, I'll have a read.
  12. Thanks, mate. It's going to be ugly but that is the plan.
  13. Thanks, Mark! They are pretty simply done compared to the stangs. Everything is so much bigger and easier to work on the engine. I'd love to follow your progress on it if you post it anywhere. Please give us the heads up if you do. Are you going to do any chassis mods while you are at it, like boxing it or anything? I'm amazed at how flimsy mine is, even with the additions that I've made. And it is a newer '81 model chassis.
  14. Sorry, I missed your last post. Sounds great! Are you planning to run the existing engine and trans?
  15. Congrats, Mark. You did an amazing job. I'm very impressed with the quality you produced. And I'm loving the next project. What plans do you have for it?
  16. I trailered the truck down to the engineer this week for an inspection and I got the thumbs up all round. We also discussed the next few steps. I now don't need to take it back until it is basically at the point of painting. Today, after getting the ok to modify the chassis, I was able to mock the front end and cab. It's all just sitting in place but it's great to know it's all going to work.
  17. Great to see him really enjoying himself!
  18. That's a nice and simple chart. I've saved that for future reference. Thanks
  19. This will be interesting to see how much variation you get in your AFR's. You're probably going to learn more now about how your car is running than ever before.
  20. Oh wow!!! Gees mate, that could have been so much worse in so many ways. As bad as that was, you got lucky at the same time.
  21. What happened with the bedroom window?
  22. If you don't have an engineers certificate for every modification, you won't pass for registration. No registration on a vehicle means no use on public roads. The police now have number plate scanning devices on their vehicles too that scan while they are driving and alert them to registration status on passing vehicles. The fines and penalties for using an unregistered vehicle on public roads are more than the registration costs. So not worth it. As I mentioned, each year our vehicles in NSW need to pass an inspection to be cleared for the following years registration. If the inspector, most mechanical shops, is inspecting a non-original car and questions the modifications, you need to provide the engineers certificate to prove those modifications are certified and legal. The same if you were pulled over by the police and they questioned you over modifications, you need to carry the engineers certificate to prove it. This is where the police persons knowledge and attitude can become a huge grey area. They have the right to fine or take the vehicle off the road but there are so many stories of misinformed police officers not knowing the rules but using their status to do so. I've been on the receiving end of both positive and negative too. Nothing against the police, just some people in general are a-holes. Other states are different. Some are like us that require yearly inspections, some only require them when a vehicle changes ownership. But in those states, the modification rules still apply. If you were pulled over and the police detect uncertified modifications, they take the vehicle off the road until it is rectified. Which either means change the modification what ever it may be back to factory standard and have the vehicle inspected and cleared. Or have the modification engineer certificated. Now, more grey areas. Each engineer and registration inspector also has their own interpretation of the rules. It's a matter of finding and using one that you get along with or are both on the same page, that makes it much easier.
