latoracing 256 Report post Posted November 16, 2013 Welcome to the Forum! Is it a "S" coded car, by chance. Big block builds are cool, and different. You will have to share some of the details on the plans for your build with us when you get a chance. Keep the pics coming as well.
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 Looks like you have a decent car to start with. What kind of mods are you planning on ?
Footcutter 13 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 No, it is not "S" code, it is an "M" code. The seller swapped it out for the 351, which was trashed. There is also no door plate, so who knows if it is a Mach 1. I plan on mustang II front suspension, triangulated 4-Link rear, full programmable ECU, fuel injection, and twin turbos. The seller also included new rear quarter skins and tail light section. I also plan on frame connectors, and triangulation. Engine runs and has a new C6 tranny. Thanks for your interest, and I will keep the pics coming.
390mach1 49 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 What are you doing with the 390? Is it a C6 or 4 speed now?
Footcutter 13 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 Stroking it to 431, but have not totally decided yet. The C6 is in it already, probably go with a shift kit and see what happens. Might be too much torque with twin TD04s.
Hoover 12 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 nice sportsroof. 68 last year for a fastback.
Chris'69Mach 23 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 nice sportsroof. 68 last year for a fastback. We all know that ..... I have a '69 Fastback too :tt2: Fastback sounds better than Sportsroof. It was just a marketing scheme anyways.
Footcutter 13 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 Let me ask the experts; How do I figure if my 69 was or was not a Mach 1? The door plate is missing. Nice 69 Chris!
Chris'69Mach 23 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 Get the $40 Marti report .... it will tell you if it is a 63C or not
miketyler 15 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 Or the Eminger report that would have dealer invoice with options....but I think Marti bought all remaining Eminger records so guess you have to deal with Kevin either way

Footcutter 13 Report post Posted November 21, 2013 (edited) Engine is out. A little surface rust on two of the cylinder walls. Pistons look great. Tranny is in very good shape. Edited November 21, 2013 by Footcutter

Jimjific 23 Report post Posted November 23, 2013 Just a thought. You might want to look at just getting another block. Sleeves add unwanted stress to the block and 390's are cheap. I had to get one for a Cougar and I got the whole engine for $100. I brought the heads and intake that I didn't need/want to a scrap yard and got ~$30. So I basically got my block for $70. Check out this link of a guy building 427 by stroking a390. It has lots of good info. http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?1215-Engine-Build-Thread-427ci-FE-Big-Block Jim
