  1. Looks like Rod has this one figured out . i am going to talk with Con Way again and see if i can get set up with them .if not i will check into UPS again and if not them Greyhound . thanks for the help Guys .
  2. What strikes me as funny is, if the weight doubled why did they only want $39 more ? I would think the shipping would have been a lot more .Anyway ,i am looking for a new ...new shipping company, One that the dock worker will keep his big old size 16 s off the scale when he weighs something .
  3. You and me both ,a set price is a set price
  4. The shipping company has decided to drop the over weight charges ,quite gracious of them since the weight charges are false in the first place .I asked ,how they could be so far off as to double the actual weight of the box ?The reply was "it is possible the dock worker had a pallet left on the scales and didn't notice it ,But ...they can neither confirm nor deny this so they decided to drop the extra charge" .HAHAHAHA, Good one ,HAHAHA.
  5. yeah ,that is what i figured out .All 69-70 Shelbys are actually 69s .When they say they will fit 69 or 70 that is wrong 70 end caps are different
  6. Hell no , they are not going to get away with this .The guy was supposed to call me last night after i left a message but didn't .if he doesn't call me to day i am calling him again ,someone is going to explain this or i will be very angry .
  7. Ok guys, we have a problem with this shipping company ..any way i do .I just got a call from the dispatcher claiming the hood and box weighed 116 pounds instead of the 54 pounds i weighed it at ,4 TIMES ,and they want $39 more .AINT GONA HAPPEN ,they must think i just fell offn the turnip truck . I just boxed up another one with almost the same dimensions and the only difference is there is a Mach 1 scoop in the box also and it only weighs 67 pounds . I am going to have the new one certified weighed tomorrow .i weighed a metal 69 hood and it weighed just over 50 pounds so the box with the fiberglass hood must have been made of lead . Funny ,116 pounds is double the real weight and they only want $39 more ,i smell a scam !!
  8. I would just like to say ...DAAAAMN !!
  9. A friend of mine went to Knots Berry with his 67 turbo charged Shelby Replica .He brought it back home ,took it out of the trailer and put his 69 Mach1 in the trailer and the 67 in the shop .I was talking with him on the phone ,at 12 noon ,when he said his trailer was rolling down the driveway .He called me back a few hours later and said the car ,still in the trailer, was stolen right out of his drive way . They had to bust the hitch lock to hook it to the truck ,the cops think they froze it ,then shattered it Because it was in pieces on the ground . 5 years later some one called him and asked if he was missing a trailer with a red 69 Mustang .he rushed over to Woodlake Calif and there it was still in the trailer ,it was in a storage yard .The police fingerprinted it and released it to him but wouldn't say who the suspect was ,but we think we know . We think the Shelby replica was the target ,must have got a big surprise to find the mach 1 instead in the trailer . I hope your friend gets his back . Thieves are stupid so they may get caught ,just keep passing the word .
  10. You will find the gaps will not be straight as well if you have repo panels ,i had to weld and grind the ends of the valance to get a good fit .They are usually short by as much as a 1/4 inch also.
  11. I was looking at my Shelby replica again and it looks like the hood pins could be moved outward from the stock mach 1 position and work with the two front scoops .Other wise ,the hood pins could be moved to the hood adjusters in the front of the radiator support and the the adjusters would then be moved to the front fender bolt holes like a 65 GT 350. This way will move the pins more forward .
  12. I can count the oranges on the tree in the reflection . I have 4 gallons of Black jade just waiting to be sprayed on something ,i have been saving it for a couple of years now .
  13. Wooo Hooo, Yeah! i was thinking Kermit the frog green when you said it was green LOL! Looks like Corvette Emerald .i had a 66 coupe the same color . So hurry up and get it painted !
  14. Is it just me ,or is it pretty even damaged ? I think it would make a great sticky ,it should show every one that while the powers that be say it is totaled a true Mustanger knows better and should not give up .
  15. When the war birds come to Porterville Calif. they do most of their flights right over my house .We set back in a lawn chair and watch the fun all day . A lot of famous air craft has been at Visalia airport at one time or another ..Harrison Fords Crashed plane was at Visalia ,it even has Visalia on the side of it . The owner of the Strathmore air port built smaller scale WWII replica birds ,i helped him assemble some wings when he needed some help ,actually i held it while he did the work but it was still a lot of fun.
  16. You see insurance companies !! This is what the hobby means to us .It is more than a hobby ...It's What brings us great pleasure and a sense of accomplishment ...It is not about money . Well done .
  17. This one uses the factory studs to mount ,i have to find a supplier for the studs .I know they are still made .i have a bolt store close by ,i need to check with them. They are like a wood screw on the scoop side and a 1/4 inch bolt on the hood side with a made on washer between .When they are tightened the washer acts as a stop against the hood .
  18. I have the molds for the Mach1 hood scoop as well ,looks just like factory one top and bottom and uses the lights and the grill and the factory mounting studs .It was one of the first molds i made ...with my cousins help .
  19. I need a pic of the end of the quarter but i found out the end caps for the 69 are shaped different from a 70 so 69 Shelby end caps will not fit a 70. The 69 outer point is taller than the 70 ,and the 70 is kind of blunt at the outer point and shorter than the 69 . Looks like i will need to find a 70 to make end caps ,otherwise the 69s have to be modified and most would not be able to do that . Branda and all the others list the end caps as the same and they are not ,in fact no one has the correct caps for a 70
  20. Hah ! i finally got my patch panels for the lower quarter .My last post was march 18...My parts are coming in a little quicker than usual .Now i just have to find the time to work on it .
  21. Mike ,that is really looking good . I bought the smaller set of Blair cutters ,3/4 inch down .These cutters cut smoother than a punch . This reminds me of building my 66 Ford F100 pre runner ,that was a lot of fun to build . I bought the Pro tools tubing bender with 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 mandrels ,it is hand operated now but i will go hydraulic soon. I also bought a tubing notcher ,it makes the sweetest fish mouth joints .
  22. I just hope i didn't forget to put it in the box ..Wouldn't that be embarrassing ? HAHA I tried the tracking but couldn't get it to work ,I would figure Friday though .
  23. It appears the 70 quarters are different where the end caps bolt up ,the shape is different .The 69 has a sharp point at the top and is more dished leading up to the trunk lid but the 70 has a flattened top point and is less dished .i have never worked on a 70 coupe or convert so i haven't been able compare this .I have noticed on one of the web sites ,i think it was Branda ,that 69 end caps for the shelby convert have to be modified for a 70 . Does any one have a pic of the end of a 70 coupe or convert with the caps off ?Or even with the caps on for that matter ?
