How do you fix steering wheel play?
Brian Conway replied to prayers1's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
A undercarriage inspection is a great idea and maybe a quick look at the Shop Manuals steering box adjustment instructions ? Brian -
302 quits, then immediately will restart

Could be as simple as a bad/loose coil connection. Brian -
On my 4 spd. car the harness plug ins are on the right and the edge of the button is 1" from the kick panel. Brian

Top loader doesn't like to shift at high RPMs
Brian Conway replied to 1969mustang's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
Any particulars on that 'tractor hydraulic fluid' ? Manufacturer, weight or type ? 428/4 speed car. Speed/RPM's don't seem to matter but the temperature does. The hotter it is the crappier the shift. I have moved all the way up Castrol 85-145 gear lube. It has made shifting a little better but not as good as I would like. I have tried the lighter weights and the synthetics and am now trying the 85-145. Best so far. Brian -
That was very interesting. What's next Mr. Wizard ? Brian

Gasket on bottom side of shaker midplate?
Brian Conway replied to miketyler's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
Good question. I never have seen one installed or for sale. Pictures of my assembly without one and no evidence of ever having one. You could make a case for a gasket either way. My guess no. Brian -
What is this part called and it use
Brian Conway replied to prayers1's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
With the extra/support straps. September 19, 1968 Metuchen. Brian -
I carry the spare and jack and they are stored right where they are supposed to be. Road side assistance is just fine, I have AAA, but the person sent to assist you may not have the same respect for your car that you do. Brian

The rubber grommet, C9ZB-3K680-B, is a compression fit with a interesting little interlocking mechanism to get it to stay in place. Brian

No metal strap under the ABS/plastic cover. The only column support is a metal brace/bracket, stamped with the Sept 3 1968, in this photo and can been seen in the other photo posted. Brian

To get started you will need to get all the numbers off the transmission case and the tail shaft assembly. Brian

I believe support is the function but yours is collapsed. Will send you a picture of my int without the fiberglass. If you can post it. Brian -

Windlace, where does it stop and end
Brian Conway replied to prayers1's topic in 1969-70 Technical Forum
Starting Point; the forward kick panel has a enlarged area to receive the windlace. Ending Point; The rear 1/4 window latch has a small plastic trim and windlace goes to the top of the int. fiberglass. Brian
