  1. My wife & I have a terminal case of CRS! LOL
  2. I have an FMX Auto so I should have no problem with the speedo sending unit. My car is an A/C equiped car so I already have all the holes and such. The PO put one of those cheap dash pad covers on the dash...Well, I peeked under there and know why. The origional dash pad is trashed and he removed the middle A/C dash vent. he also removed the compressor and all A/C mounting brackets. I have a new dash pad with factory A/C from ford tooling. I just need that middle A/C vent. I'll probably install the air box under the dash and all the vents while I have the dash out. I'll finish up installing all the engine bay stuff when I get to me engine rebuild after this project. I have looked over the AAW instructions and they are really not step by step but look pretty easy to figure out. Not sure how I want to route all my wiring yet. I may stick pretty close to stock wire routing but thinking about hiding some of the engine bay wiring. Not sure how that will work out. I really haven't looked at where I can run the wires. Everything will have the split wire loom on them (not that cheap plastic stuff). I may have to order more....I just got a little but in various sizes to see what I actually need when I get started.
  3. Yes, the plastic chrome A/C vent that is in the middle of the dash right above the radio.
  4. Just thought I would start my project thread. I have a 69 Mach1 that the PO hacked and butchered the wiring. I'm in the process of getting everything together to install my American AutoWire harness. I hate to do things twice so after disassembly of the interrior, I will be upgrading a lot of different things. While I have it apart, I will be installing dynamat, Classic AutoAir A/C, New gauges, led lights, new door panels, new alternator, repairing the seat upholstery, installing a stereo system and replacing anything I have taken apart with new or refurbished items. When it is all said and done I don't want to take anything else apart in the interrior. I will begin in a couple of weeks but right now I want to make a list of what I have for you to look over and see if I have forgotten anything. I do have all the necessary tools and supplies: Crimpers, heat shrink, splices, tie straps, rubber grommets, wire loom, clamps etc, so here is a list of parts/items I'll be installing. Please let me know if I have overlooked anything and I'll be posting pictures along the way and asking any specific questions in the Technical Fourm. 1. AAW Wire Harness - Since AAW uses different color wires from stock, I'll be retracing one of my schmetics with the installed color felt tip pen. 2. Classic AutoAir A/C - Still have to order, waiting on a holiday sale 3. Stereo - Stock radio upgraded with MP3 input. Have a power antenna. Still need speakers, amp and speaker wire. Not sure what gauge wire or how much. Want to locate the amp under the rear seat with a dual speaker in the dash and 2 rear speakers in the package tray. 4. 100 amp 1 wire alternator and bracket with 200 amp inline fuse. 5. Door Panels - still have to order but do have metal cups and new courtsy light. 6. New window cat whiskers. Glass is lose and rattling. Thought I would replace whiskers. The wind lace & weatherstripping looks good. Is there anything else inside I need to look at? 7. New gauges from New Vintage USA Gauges complete with senders and LEDS. 8. LED bulbs for radio, shifter, clock, courtsy lights, sail panel lights, heater/ac control and under dash lights. No dome light installed. Perhaps when I redo the headliner at a later date. 9. Need to refurbish gauge & clock bezel. Have new radio bezel. Console is good to go. 10. Need new knobs for lights, wipers, radio and heater controls. 11. All new screws and hardware to reassemble. 12. Still undecided on relocating battery to trunk. I do not take the Mach to the track so not sure of any advantages for a street machine except for making room in the engine bay. 13. Electronic ignition upgrade with new coil to eliminate balast resistor. 14. Still need an A/C middle dash vent. Can't find one anywhere except on ebay for $400. YIKES!!!! 15. HUGE supply of aspirin, Aleve, band aids and BEER!!!!! I probablly forgot something. CRS sets in at my age! I'll keep updating this post as I take pictures and share any information I discover along the way. Thanks for everybody's help so far.
  5. I know I was going nuts trying to figure out what to do about gauges and a tach. Check out this thread. http://1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=10617
  6. I need the center A/C vent that mounts in the center of the dash above the radio. I called CJPP Salvage yard and they do not have one. Some guy on e-bay has one but he wants $400 for it!!! YIKES!!! Just thought I would see if anybody has one here or knows where I might find one. Thanks Mike
  7. I just received a call from CJPP Salvage yard. They don't have the part that I need but at least they do follow up on their messages when you call in. I called last wednesday and they called me back today. It does take a few days to hear back but at least we know they try. Good to know for future reference.
  8. You're welcome. I called them today. You get a recording to leave a message and what part you want/need. They look to see if they have it and call you back. Takes about 3 days or so from what they said.
  9. I just found this. It looks like CJ Pony Parts has a salvage yard full of Mustangs that they are offering used parts for sale. I'll be calling them this morning. Hope this can help some of you. http://www.cjponyservice.com/salvage-yard/
  10. Check out this thread. This guy is parting out a 70 coupe. he may have what you need. http://1969stang.com/mustang/forum/showthread.php?t=10613
  11. I have the LEDs too. Looks like only difference is the spun center hubs. Here is the gauges in their bezel at their shop. The guy told be that the bracket screw holes could be off. They made the brackets for the bezel they have and one customer had the mounting holes off. it looks like Ford changed something in mid production year for 1969. He said if the holes don't line up to let them know and they will send me the other bracket they have.
  12. You have to call New Vintage USA and they will put everything together for you. They have so many options and versions that there is no one part number. They are great to work with and very helpful. The price isn't that bad considering the prices of a quality gauge set that doesn't have all 6 gauges to fit our bezels. As for the wiring, I just looked over their instructions....Not too bad. They could be better but they are good. Each harness, there are 4 of them, plugs into the gauges and you have to splice in the wires. The diagrams are pretty straight forward. You have to read and wire them according to your configuration. They include an oil pressure sending unit and a water temp sending unit. Also different fittings depending on what size hole they attach in. Also included is an electronic speed sensor. It is attached to the transmission and wired to the speedo with a momentary ground switch. The switch is for clearing the trip odometer and programming the speedo. You can calibrate the speedo following their instructions and completely do away with the old speedo cable! The tach just connects normally. Since I am doing away with the stock wiring, then I do not need a tach sensor but they have them available if needed. Also the fuel gauge is configured so it is just plug and play with the stock fuel sending unit. All in all it doesn't look to difficult plus their thech support has been great so far.
  13. That is a blast from the past! A lot of NASCAR and Drag Racers use to wear the wing tips before all the safety clothes came along. They had leather soles and kept their feet from burning from all the heat. Dick Trickle was the last to wear them. I saw him race in the early 90s and he commented on the shoes then.
  14. Now that I have a clear picture in my mind of what you need, You are right. They don't make a repop of these. I have read some other forums and found the threads to be 24tpi on a 7/16" shaft. That is a very odd combination. Some guys have gone to a machine shop and had them turn one out while others have used a die and cleaned up their threads. The machine shop can turn one out but not sure what it would cost. The only other alternative would be to search the parts yards. There has been a lot of reference to Mustang parts yards in a lot of threads on here but I can't seem to remember where they are. Also from my findings, just about any 69/70 Mustang retainer switch will work, IE; Coupe, fastback or convertable. We'll keep looking and let us know what you find.
  15. Just received my new gauge set from New Vintage USA Gauges. I'm impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. They are expensive but I think well worth it if you want to retain your stock bezel and have a factory look with aftermarket gauges. This set with mounting brackets, sending units, wire harness and electrical speedometer setup ran me $969.40. That is with led lighting, turn signal and hi beam indicators along with the spun silver hubs. I'll be dismantling the interrior and dash for my AAW wire harness. Have to get me bezels cleaned up and will take more photos as I go along.
  16. Is it an A/c car? I'm looking for the middle dash vent for a stock A/c.
  17. The only thing that I know of that takes a special tool is the 69 ignition switch. I haven't tried to remove the headlight switch on my 69 but I will be doing so in the near future, which means I'll be getting another education in Mustang Restoration...LOL You may have to replace the entire headlight switch. Here is one from CJ Pony parts. http://www.cjponyparts.com/SCOTT-DRAKE-HEADLIGHT-SWITCH-1970/p/D0ZZ11654A/
  18. I bought my Dash pad (original tooling) from Mustangs Unlimited. They list them on ebay for $299. I know they are cheaper than what he quoted you on their website.
  19. Like Jeff Foxworthy once said " Someone move this transmission, I want to take a bath"!!!
  20. Just curious....Why is everybody against Fram? I never heard of Wix until I saw a friend of mine use them in his business. I read something a long while back about Napa Gold being the best filter.
  21. That is what I bought. It says it will work with a Ford 3G alt. I don't know what you have.
  22. No problem Rod. I was thinking of doing the same thing but the kit is like $800. My windows are ok, they just rattle so I bought all the cat wiskers, guides and such to replace when I tear the doors apart. That should take care of what I need. Glad I found what you needed.....Mike
  23. Etel, I sent you a PM. Thanks for the offer.
  24. Thanks etel....I never thought of that. I received mine the other day and it was all folded up in a box. You're right though, that would worrie me too. I have a heat gun and what kind of glue did you use...Perhaps that spray on stuff?
