RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 20, 2017 After owning a few European cars I suppose I've grown accustom to the benefits of a hood that opens pert near vertical. Has anyone modified their hinges to open more? I've even pondered how difficult a front hinged hood would be. In the pic, it looks like if the vertical rear edge at the blue arrow was clearanced a bit, it would allow the hood to opened some more. Now I don't know it the spring would still have enough tension in it to keep the hood open any further. What do you brainiac engineers and wanna be engineers think about this? It's only noon o'clock here and just 104° so I may not be thinking clearly.

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 20, 2017 Thanks Jim. Can the mod be made with the hinges installed? And get into the dern house!
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted June 20, 2017 Just hit 110 in the shade. You probably could ,it was easier with the hinge off .you dont have to remove much metal to get the hood to lift higher,an 1/8 inch in 4 feet is a lot at the end of the hood ,and i didnt gap it that much

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Casey, it's not the heat, it's the stupidity. Um, I mean humidity. But maybe not. Don't know the humidity at Ridge's place, but here it's 19% which is high for the temp for us. Got in the pool before bed last night and all it did was get me wet. 69RavenConv 286 Report post Posted June 21, 2017 I had a Ford back in high school that I failed to properly latch the hood closed once. When I drove away and hit about 35-40 mph, it opened way wider than it was supposed to .... but I suspect that's not the answer you're looking for. RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Ha! Probably less work in the long run to clearance the hinges.

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Ditto! Took a while for the hot water to clear from the cold water line. 1 Caseyrhe reacted to this
Mach1 Driver 560 Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Yeah, yeah, I lived in SoCal for most of my life and you guys don't have weather. In Georgia the temp gets in the 90s with the RH in the 80s. I have to use a machete to cut the humidity just so I can walk to the mailbox. You guys stay cool and drink lots of beer to stay hydrated.
mustangstofear 608 Report post Posted June 22, 2017 19% and you're complaining LOL. Come to Indiana and see what 90 % feels like.
