Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 24, 2016 I hung the passenger side fender this morning ,it sat in place as easily as the driver side did ...until... You know that PITB clip under the front of the rocker the fender bolts to ? Well i bought a new one just for the heck of it .As i was tightening it ..fender on of course ,it spun !!!! Like to never got the bolt back out ,i was afraid i would have to cut the fender brace around the bolt and have to re glass it ,but with a little work ...a lot of work ,and a few choice words it came out .Word of advice ,if you have a good original clip use it ,the new one ,the cage is soft steel ,not like the spring steel of the original .The cage just folded around the nut and let it spin but not come out .It finally broke . Installed an original clip and all was well again . The very top of my passenger side door has a small gap ,the door is curved a bit to much in this area .My other 69 is a perfect fit here so if you ever wondered if doors or any other parts fit different from car to car ...Yes ,they do .I hope the new skins will be a bit closer here . 2 SWPruett and Caseyrhe reacted to this
Midlife 814 Report post Posted November 25, 2016 I bet you can massage that passenger door area on top to match the fender; it looks a bit dented to me.
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 25, 2016 The metal fender fits to the door perfect ,it is just the way the original skin was fit .I did a little more adjusting of the fender and if i was to sand the top of the fender a bit i think it would close up the gap .The new door skin may fit better ...or it may fit worse ,still not bad . Ford must have done some fitting on the fenders and doors of these cars as it is some times hard to fit one fender to two cars and have them fit perfect on both . Looks like i am ready to sand blast but the weather is getting bad here so i may have to wait a while .soon as it is blasted and epoxy primed i will take it off the rotisserie and get in to actually fitting the panels . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted December 3, 2016 Just as i had expected ,Dynacorn Door skins are out of stock !!! Got a couple of calls out to see if a couple can be located . It's not a big shock when you expected it ...well not a big one . That hole in the wall is getting bigger from pounding my head against it .
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted December 3, 2016 Since it looks like it will be a while before i get to do my door skins ,mumble grumble ,i get to just play around with it for a bit . I sat the hood on .It only has the front adjusters in place and 2 bolts in each front fender and a piece of styro foam in each back corner to hold the hood up ,still have to dig out a couple of hood hinges . The fit is fabulous with out even being bolted down .Things fit better on this one than they did on my other one ,this is going to be an easy one . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted December 3, 2016 I bonded in the fiberglass dust shield brackets in the fenders and bolted in the metal bracket .

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted December 4, 2016 Bored out of my skull ,had to find something i could do so i fit the front marker lights .I only had a set of rear lights but they are the same except color .The openings were just a touch small so i used a file to open them up and drilled the two holes for the bezel studs . Lights are a nice snug fit . I tried the hood peak molding ,the holes were drilled sometime ago ,they are marked with dimples in the front lip .Fit is very good even though i didnt bend the tabs yet . I found a decent set of hood hinges ,that need to be blasted .I also found the inner front bumper brackets ,they have to be bobbed at the front and a slotted plate weld to them to fit the Shelby bumper .I could buy correct brackets but they never seem to fit quite right . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted December 5, 2016 Well ...NO DYNACORN door skins any where .I guess i have to go with brand X. I have used the other skins before and they are not bad ,but the Dynacorn skins are a heavier gauge .
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted December 6, 2016 I found my hood hinges ,they are nice tight hinges .Sand blasted them and painted them flat black . I sand blasted and cut my original inner bumper bracket ,i have a set here to copy for the Shelby bumper .They will be a little bit shorter and the mounting tab moves to the front ,the Shelby bumper has one mounting stud that comes straight back . The two tabs that normally mount the bumper were cut loose and used for the front mount tab Tabs all welded and the brackets are ready to paint and bolt in . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted January 17, 2017 I started taking apart my newly acquired doors .This is about the cleanest set i have seen in quite a while . They have never been re painted ,and it looks like i am the only one that has ever seen or touched the insides since they were new .. After i peeled of the water barrier ,i started removing all the nuts and bolts The window stops are very clean and still silver iridate ,and the rubber is clean and still soft . The plate the bolts to the adjuster at the front end of the door is silver on both doors ,on a 69 they are painted body color . The window regulators are shiny black and would look like new if cleaned .They are tight and work smooth so i will reuse them . The plates on the windows look like new ,not a speck of rust ,all i need is some new fast back glass. The guides and guide bars are very clean and tight ,i will use them again . The door latches will be very clean after a good wash ,the have never been painted The door pull still has some of the plastic bag on them . Even the door wires are good ,though these do not have speaker wires .They still have the labels on them . The inside of the doors are white over spray with no rust ,the under coat is perfect ,no peeling or cracking and it is a brownish color . These two doors were worth more than the $300 i paid for the 70 coupe ...And they are mine ...all mine i tells you ...Step away from the doors, look but do not touch HAHA. 1 RPM reacted to this

Midlife 814 Report post Posted January 17, 2017 Was the car so cheap because it didn't have a title? Did the owner not have a clue as to the possible worth even as a parts car?

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted January 19, 2017 A no dent original 70 rear valance ,anyone want it ....to late ! I have to cut it for the Shelby exhaust outlet to pass through ,I have the measurements from my other 69 . the whole center cuts out where the license plate would be I screwed it in place but i didn't bolt up the ends .I need to shift it to the left side about 1 /32 of an inch and there will be no gap on either side . This is what it should look like ,after i buy the collector and outlet form Branda .

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted January 21, 2017 Yep about 1/32 of an inch .It is actually setting on the driver side just enough to keep it from falling into place .there will be no gaps on this valance it fits that tight .And i keep a tape measure with me at all times so beware ,have tape ...will measure HAHA 1 RPM reacted to this
