Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted October 23, 2016 Why you start another project of course ! Another Shelby replica .Started on the back end first ,the trunk lid and end caps are bolted on . I replaced the lower rear window panel some time ago and i noticed a low spot in the middle of the panel at the trunk lid .I was going to use my porta power to raise the center ,it's only a bit less than 1/8 inch .Well ,the porta power sprayed oil all over the place so it looks like i need a new one first . I had to remove the rotisserie rear mounts and trim them so the tail panel would go in place ,while the car was on it ,kind of scary but it is done . The side scoops are bolted on ,just a little sanding to pull them tight to the body and they will fit great . going to have to do a couple of door skins i think ..depends on what i find when i strip them ,before i fit the front end .I still have to make the front fenders . 6 Zefevinee, DanielLup, Selmadox and 3 others reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted October 24, 2016 Head light buckets are made ,i fit the metal cans and trim rings ,the cans still need to be glass beaded .I also made a set of the head light mud guard panels . The stone deflector is ready to go and so is the stone deflector mounting bracket. I have had the hood finished for some time ,it has been hanging on my wall. OOPS! Guard dog on duty ,dont nobody move HAHA! She is watching over everything ...Good Girl ! The trunk /end cap webbing fits ,at the cost of them i can make them . Now is the time to make sure there is enough room between the trunk lid and the rain gutter .There needs to be no less than 1/2 inch between them for the trunk seal to fit and not have the trunk lid stick up over the end caps ,mine is 5/8 ...perfect ,i hate seeing that trunk lid sticking up to high. The rain gutter can be easily bent with a block of wood and a mallet if you need to get a better gap.I usually close the lid and check the gap from the inside . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted October 25, 2016 I found these license plate lights ,they are not totally correct but close enough .I have seen them on EBay for stupid prices for the same light ,people ...They are between $4 and $5 at Autozone and Napa ,and they have them in stock . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted October 26, 2016 I made the dust shield brackets for the front fenders ,i will bond them in after the fenders are fit to the car to make sure they are in the correct spot ,They hold the metal piece that the plastic shield screws to . The inner fender braces are also done ,they will be bonded into the fenders while they are still in the mold .The bracket that bolts to the body is 16 gauge steel and held in with stainless pop rivets . The front fenders still have to be made ,maybe by the week end .

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted October 28, 2016 I finished the front valance today ,not much to a Shelby valance .
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 3, 2016 Well ,as usual ,when ever i start to work on something of my own work picks up .Had to pull of for a few days but i will squeeze in some time on my 69 when ever i can . I sanded the back of the stone deflector and started on the back side of the headlight buckets .I plan to sand the back side of anything that is raw fiberglass ,like the hood and front valance ,front fenders .I want a smooth surface front and back on both of my 69s .It will take a bit of work on the headlight buckets trying to get into some of the tight places but i have already started on them with my triangle orbital sander ,it sands smooth very quickly with 80 grit .I will have to use a die grinder and a paper drum to get the tighter places .The stone deflector sanded smooth very quickly .I use a fine grade mat so it is already fairly smooth .I laid an extra layer of 1 oz mat just so i could sand the pieces smooth with out thinning the part and without having to use bondo or blast it full of high build primer . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 18, 2016 I finaly finished the front fenders today .To late to get any pics so maybe tomorrow .I have to gut thedoors and bolt them back on so i can fit the fenders .The headlight buckets will not fit with it on therotisserie so i will have to wait to finish fitting the front valance ,headlight buckets and the stonedeflector untill i get it down . 1 SWPruett reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 18, 2016 Finished fenders ,the inner bracing bonded in . A little hard to tell by this pic ,but the headlight buckets are sanded smooth with 80 grit and finished with 180 . The fenders will not be fun to sand the back side ,lots of area to sand smooth ,the hood will be much easier . 1 SWPruett reacted to this

RPM 1,190 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 Jim, are the stock Shelby fiberglas parts smooth on the undersides?
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 Jim, are the stock Shelby fiberglas parts smooth on the undersides? Yes ,everything fiberglass from 68 up is press molded .Although a few very early 68s are hand laid .All 65-67 is hand laid .
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 I fit the driver side headlight bucket and the fender eye brow molding .That eye brow molding is a PITA to bolt down trying to get to that nut at the point .Every thing fit perfect ...except ,one bolt is in the wrong spot on the new eye brow molding from an original ,not a big deal except i already had the correct bolt holes drilled ...get to fill in a bolt hole on each front fender :(. I would recommend bolting the fender pieces together before bolting the fenders on the car ,will save a big head ache . 1 SWPruett reacted to this
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 Driver side fender sets right in place . Just what i was afraid of ,the driver door needs to be skinned .It has a couple of deep creases filled with bondo and that will not do .

Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted November 22, 2016 I decided to see how my old nasty door would fit up to the fender .A couple of bolts in the top so it wouldn't fly off the car and the door was almost a perfect fit to the fender . Probably won't fit quite this good with a new door skin but we will deal with that when i get it put on . Looks pretty good ,even with that nasty old door skin . I still have to gut out the passenger side door.
