1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted October 6, 2016 Where do you find 93 octane? The best we have in California at a gas pump is 91 octane. If we need a little higher octane, many of us mix in some 110 octane race fuel or an additive like Torco Accelerator.
Brian Conway 264 Report post Posted October 6, 2016 Well I don't find 93 anywhere. The guys in the mid-West and East coast have it along with some other non-ethanol types. I guess they have a few more choices than we here in California ? Brian
jholmes217 65 Report post Posted October 6, 2016 I remember Sunoco gas stations in Ohio had 94.
Dave R. 85 Report post Posted October 7, 2016 I remember Sunoco gas stations in Ohio had 94. Back in the 1960's and '70's the Sunoco stations sold Sunoco 260 and I think it was 98 octane. Leaded. Ran it in my jet boat. BB Chevy with 12 1/2:1 compression. No problems. Dave R.
LindenBruce 27 Report post Posted October 7, 2016 My R-Code came with a 3.50:1 open rear. So when I rebuilt the rear, I added traction-lock and changed to 3.73:1 AND built up a sturdy AOD for improved cruising mileage. Can't wait to see how so performs on the street. The conversion was cheaper than Gear Vendors a conversion. B. 1 RPM reacted to this
MAC390 327 Report post Posted October 7, 2016 I have looked at the gear vendors unit might give me the best of both worlds has a stall converter in it. Ash when you are down my way you should drop in , need all the help i can get. i can give you my cell no. The car is coming along nicely , just want it to perform good and blow my buddies 427 Camaro off. Plenty of 98 here and the oil companies want you to buy it.
