jholmes217 65 Report post Posted September 22, 2016 Looks pretty darn close to me. My car was black primer when I bought it, but the Black Jade is still in the trunk and doors.
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 I keep coming up with this in my searches, much darker in green, like the color Jade. Am I color blind?
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 No you're not color blind. The inside of your trunk doesn't have the same green hue to it like the PPG 2037 paint chip. One photo of the trunk looks at least dark. But the other three look closer to a charcoal grey. If you have the patience, I'd stop before painting anything else. Make certain you have the correct paint. If its not then get the correct paint and maybe find another use for this paint down the road.
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 That's what I was thinking, glad I told them to paint the trunk first, for me to proof the color. Otherwise I might have a dark metalic gray Mach
Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Black Jade is very dark until you get it in the sun light and then you will see gold appear .In the shadows it looks almost a dark grayish green .If you can take it out in the light you will see a big difference . Ridge Runner 1,113 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Lighting makes a big difference with this color ,in the shadows it can look dark charcoal or even black .It is bright lighting that makes this color pop .I have had a couple of 69 CJs in Black Jade and it is a beautiful color ...in the light
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 That convertible GT 350 looks more green than the inside of his trunk. Just saying, double check, double check, and then check again before chalking it up to different lighting and painting the whole car. It may be the correct paint code but something can be slightly different because it's a base coat clear coat urethane and not old school single stage acrylic enamel. barnett468 418 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 your car will look like crap unless they use solvent base paint . ppg is a good one. heres 2 decent examples this bottom one is more correct.
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Found pic of trunk before sending to paint, not even close
jholmes217 65 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Take some new pictures outside and post them for us. I'll try to remember to post some pictures of the inside of my doors and truck with the original paint after work tonight.
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 I think barnett468 is on to something with the solvent based paint. I've heard some colors just don't make the "conversion" nicely. Anyway, even the pictures barnett468 posted don't shown any grey tones. Best of luck. Might even have to go old school with an acrylic enamel to get the color closer or exact to original. Many want base coat-clear coat urethanes. But, personally I'm fine with acrylic enamels.
Mach1 Driver 560 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 I have an all original Black Jade that I bought in 69. Barnett's pictures are what it should look like. Mine is like the lower picture except my stripes are red, and the blackout on the hood was never shiny.
Caseyrhe 650 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Two pic of lid outside, still grey. Got with painter and agrees. Going to get 1/2 pint of PPG mixed at supplier and reshoot. Friend also had a paint chip sheet, to where you can see it's true color, how it changes, and the metallic.
1969_Mach1 333 Report post Posted September 23, 2016 Yeah, looks a little better outside, but still not nothing like the pictures barnett468 posted. Good thing you caught it now.
