Mr.CNC 10 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 What the the differences between a Boss 302 and Boss 429 hood scoop? Any one have a picture of a car with the larger 5" after market boss scoop on a car? I have a stang II suspension and a 460 with a tall intake and dominator carb. It currently hits my Boss 302 scoop.
69droptopgt 10 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) Boss 302 did not have a scoop unless it is a shaker. Boss 429 scoop is large non shaker scoop. Way different from any other mustang scoop Edited April 24, 2013 by 69droptopgt

manley 13 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 That car is sweet... love the scoop. I like the black mirrors, too.
Pakrat 1,043 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 Unless I'm mistaken I believe that an original standard scoop does say BOSS V or something like that on the underside which can be confusing. If anything sticking out of a hood won't clear a 429 scoop then it's time to add a blower and showcase that puppy!
Mr.CNC 10 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 Sorry I thought the 302 had the scoops as well. Mine has a ford number on it I thought it was a 302 scoop. So I AM back to the same issue. May need to find a different intake....... Wish it came with a blower hooked to it. Still trying to find some pictures of the bigger scoop

It does say SHORT BOSS "V" on the underside. Just looked at one I'm repairing. MrCNC: Known as the CobraJet scoop.

Max Power 74 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 Heres a 302 with a 429 Scoop on it. LOL....what's the point of having a front spoiler when you have a four wheel drive suspension goin on?
manley 13 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 LOL....what's the point of having a front spoiler when you have a four wheel drive suspension goin on? I would guess he likes the appearance? The car has everything else the wing and rear window slats too. Probably just likes the looks....not worried as much about function.
FrozenMonkey 12 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 LOL....what's the point of having a front spoiler when you have a four wheel drive suspension goin on? Not my car, don't ask me. Just the first pic I found of a 302 with a 429 scoop on it like the OP wanted.
Mr.CNC 10 Report post Posted April 28, 2013 Yeah my scoop looks just the BOSS 429. I have a mach 1 type that ran on one of my other cars. With my intake and carb and adapter minus the nitrous plate the carb hits the hood scoop. I don't think the 5 inch scoop would look right on a coupe. I may have to get a different carb. Any one looking for a 750 dominator?

Mr.CNC 10 Report post Posted May 1, 2013 Sorry I missed that. Thanks! I think it looked pretty good when it was all painted. almost the same set up as what I am doing. I feel a little bit better about it just doing a scoop.

Mr.CNC 10 Report post Posted June 3, 2013 Any one have pictures of a 69 with a aero scoop on it one like hardwood makes( http://www.eharwood.com/catalog/SCOOPS/Aero-Scoops/AERO_III_AERO_SCOOP%2C_BOLT-ON/366 ). Mr.CNC 10 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 I love the look of the 9 scoop but I am having a clearance issue . Even with just my dual plane and a 4150 carb I cant run a air cleaner. So I need something bigger. cowl scoop maybe?
fordguy69 24 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Try this guy. He's making tall Boss 9 scoops. http://www.460ford.com/forum/showthread.php?t=161949 What intake are you running? I have a 460 in mine with a Stealth, it fits under a regular Boss 9 scoop with room to spare and a fairly tall air cleaner.
