bluestang 10 Report post Posted December 6, 2011 I found these when surfing a while back http://www.reenmachine.com/shop/product.php?productid=16136&cat=0&bestseller=Y#tabs No idea about whether they are any good as not tried them, i'm no where near needing lights yet. Would be interested to hear if anyone has used them
MustangChuck 16 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 The Reen Machine lights require cutting in the back of the housing. You can look at these from CJ Pony Parts. You can also look at JamesW's web site for using relays to improve brightness. M/C
buening 63 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 I'd recommend either Cibies or Hellas with the standard relay upgrade. You can get Cibies at Daniel Stern Lighting
danno 128 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 The simple thing is to switch to Halogen headlights, which are like those from CJ pony parts. You can probably get them cheaper from a local car parts shop, most still have them available. What really helps a lot is the headlight relay system. I measured it on mine, and the wires drop 2 volts. So if your battery is at 13 volts, your headlights only have 11 volts at them. The relay system solves this problem. Angel 24 Report post Posted December 7, 2011 Any headlamp that uses a replaceable H4 bulb will require you to cut the headlight bucket. Not a big deal. Can be easily done and won't be noticeable.
PaoloMach1 11 Report post Posted March 5, 2012 hey what do you think about the Wagner sealed beams? I would buy something that look similar to the original but as I know anybody reproduce the Ford licensed sealed beams for 1969
chillininnh 21 Report post Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) I'm sure there are less expensive ways to achieve this upgrade but I went with the Reenmachine 4 bulb kit. I've got the harness all installed, took the buckets to work with me today to trim them, easy peasy. Will finish install when I get home tonight. His kit is well engineered with excellent directions. Mustang Monthly has a wrire up on this install which has also helped. Edited March 5, 2012 by chillininnh
chillininnh 21 Report post Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) Just an FYI, the very best way to make quick work of the headlight bucket trimming is a jig saw. Put two little pieces of wood under the adjustment tabs and run two screws down into your employers work bench lol. This stabilizes the bucket for cutting perfectly. I can't wait to get home and finish up. Edited March 5, 2012 by chillininnh
rangerdoc 22 Report post Posted March 5, 2012 During the last CJ sale I bought the halogen bulbs with the FoMoCo script on them. I just like the idea of having something that looks stock. If it weren't for that I'd do one of the above upgrades.
chillininnh 21 Report post Posted March 6, 2012 All I can say is wow. Finished the install of the Reenmachine 4 bulb upgrade and what a difference! Combined with the sequential led tailight upgrade, I'll feel better about my visibility and the visibility to others lol, safety first!

Combined with the sequential led tailight upgrade, I'll feel better about my visibility and the visibility to others lol, safety first! Looks great man! I used a l.e.d. taillight kit from antique and classic auto out of Oklahoma (only 80$ per side) and they are super bright too. HUGE improvement. The kit came with lenses and trim rings and I'm pleasantly surprised how nice they are. Next will be interior lighting... l.e.d.s in the dash.
