My 69 Vert Project...Let The Games Begin

Recommended Posts

I was curious how much overtime you are going to have to work, but once the weather turns nice and you are driving with the top down, it will be priceless......Photos of your ride would look nice at Big Bear Mountain as there are really nice long views up there with the golf course in behind...

Well I haven't posted in a while but I have got some things completed. I finally got the hood and scoop painted and the scoop installed. I have not yet received the 351 emblems for the hood scoop so for now I have just put on some Cobra emblems. Once the 351 emblems show up I will swap them out.

The hood and scoop are painted black with sapphire blue pearl. It cam out very nice. I got the signal lights wired and everything works great

the black with blue pearl is really cool! I'm sure pictures dont do it justice. You have to walk around and let it play with the light! It's kind of period correct actually.

I had a 65 in high school that my Dad and I did pace car blue with powder blue fade in up the edges of the hood, down th body line around the quarter scoop and back and from the gas cap out on the rear panel. Then I did the gas tank powder blue as well. The whole car was then cleared with old school fine gold metal flake in it. Under the street lights at night I use to stare at it for hours... unbelievable.

Anyway...lol nice job!

Yeah that's a unique app, I like the way the blue dances out from the black when the light hits it just right. I like it a lot better that tonal blue on blue you had before, that was too subtle, this is just right.

Well I haven't updated in a while. I finally got the 351 emblems and got them on. I also found a passenger side dash panel with the rectangle clock insert...Hopefully it will be here soon. I haven't decided yet if Im gonna put a digital clock in or redo the original only with quartz inards...

I also have all the glass in but holly :censored: I just can not get them lined up very well....patients is a virtue I know but yikes...what a pain in the ASS....

Now for the bad...I came home the other day after putting on about 50 miles, parked the car in the garage and went in the house..came out a few hours later and there was a puddle of oil under the front of the car. I opened the hood and there was oil splattered on the passenger side inner front fender and a bit on the hood. It was coming out from under the balancer in the front. I was thinking it may be from where the key is on the balancer. But Im not that lucky. Seems the front seal had a crack in it:cursing:. So as I type this its in the shop getting a new seal. The damn thing has only 500 miles on it and its already in the shop. I will be going after the engine builder for the cost of the repair, but I don't like my chances....I'll update with the results....

OK,

So the front seal is fixed and I had the shop do the proper tuning on the MSD HEI and fine tune the carb. What a difference in performance. I mean the car pulled out very nicely to begin with but now....WOW !!! It's a huge difference. It sure helps when ya know what your doing...I'm just a dumb car painter, not a mechanic so when I did the timing it wasn't quit right...or even close from what I hear !!! :whistling: But its all good now...very good !!

Next....Try to repair the center console.....:helpsmilie:

Glad it's fixed and in top notch tune now. Looks like you got a lot of work to do on that console though, it's so badly mangled it looks more like a hood scoop.

Yeah, yur' "conssle is mangeld" ...:scared:

Late night Pak?
