  1. My Dad did something similar. He was restoring his 29 Model A and got the Fenders and running boards back from paint. He needed a safe place to store them so he laid them out in the living room, right on the carpet. (it was just them since all of us kids moved out by then) Mom was not happy with that one!! He also tried to paint some parts in the basement, smell got all throughout the house, overspray on some stuff she had stored down thier. I learned a lot of what not to do from him, I don't think my wife would be as understanding as my mom!!
  2. I would say etching primer over bare metal.
  3. I blasted mine and just shot them with rustoleum gloss black. You loose a lot of paint in overspray trying to cover the springs!!
  4. No Problem, I completely understand. I kind of figured that would be the case which is why I tried to get some close up pictures to show the condition of the chrome.
  5. Found it last night!! It is in OK shape. Both posts are good, but the chrome is not the best. Looks good from a distance, but up close it is not the best. I have attached some pictures, if you want it, it's yours! Let me know!
  6. I have one, still on an old trunk lid in the attic. I will try to pull it off tonight and see how the chrome is.
  7. Bought mine in 2002. It sat for 3 years while I finished another project (64 Bonneville for my Dad), and started actually working on mine in 2005. Have all the suspension, and underside done, and started on the body this year. I should get it painted next summer, and mabye done and on the road a year or 2 after that. My oldest boy is 12 now, so I am hoping to get my car done so we can find a car for him and that will be my next project!
  8. Here is mine. 28X30 I built about 7 years ago. I don't heat it so it becomes a storage garage in the winter. Packed 5 cars in over the weekend. (not all of them are mine)
  9. So I had pop open gas cap from a 69 Mach 1 that the chrome was not the best on, but still looked pretty good. I walked around the house looking for something to do with it and thought it would make a pretty cool cover for a light switch. (Wife said it had to go in the garage, not the house!) Made up a frame for it, bent a piece of metal and painted it Gulfstream Aqua, the color my car will be if I ever finish it!

  11. I am a little confused. I dug out my quarter panel extensions (69 fastback). I noticed that one was much heavier than the other. The drivers side was made out of pot metal, and the passenger side was made out of fiberglas or plastic. They both have C9ZB part numbers. I thought it was odd to have original 69 parts made out of different materials. Does anyone know if this is common?
  12. Pak, Looks like between SlimeGold and the article you found you pretty much have this figured out, but here are a couple pictures of my 66 to help see how it all hooks up.
